You should "NEVER-EVER" open 80 & 443 to your NVR you are just asking for issue. Instead use port 8000 udp only, it's a service port for the app. WAY more secure. Also isolate it on a different vlan with a rule to not hop from one network to another.
Jason, as it turns out neither 80 nor 443 are ports that the REOLINK NVR will respond to. Most likely it was needed in an older version of the Firmware. I suspected that, but I should have tested before including them in the video. I have now disabled them on my router to be 100% secure. Thanks. I will Pin this comment and the responses in the comment area of the video.
Hi, I just purchased the reolink with nvr. I opened the port 8000 udp only. It worked for a few minutes and then it stopped. Any ideas why I can't connect remotely anymore? Thanks.
@@Joocyknt Is it possible someone else reset your setting? This has been know to occur with some nternet Service Providers who require that you provide them admin access to your router.
Thank you very much! Very helpful tips. Finally able to watch my nvr remotely. I am able to access enable uid through settings>network>advanced>enable uid
After trying to figure this out for an hour, and watching this video and to be honest the video was unhelpful. I went down to the comments and I saw yours and then it was done in 30 seconds, I wish I would have seen this an hour ago.
Thank you very much. I was looking for a video for two days that explained it well and I couldn't find it. Many of them took a long time and didn't teach like you did. Very fast and understandable. Thank you very much. God bless you.
Hello sir My reolink camera work only home wifi not tgrough mobile data or different wifi. Can u plz show some video with full description including setting in router, mobile setting? Sorry i m not tech guy. I was trying since last week and watched many videos but seems like ur video is very relative for my problem. But i need full video. I have iphone 12 pro max. Plz help me sir.
It sounds like you may have an issue with your Router/Firewall. This video showed what I did to reconfigure mine and the Reolink central station. I cannot think of anything else I could show for all other specific Routers with Firewalls.
They are for specific application ports on the REOLINK. Since the traffic to/from those ports can only flow to your REOLINK, then the security risk is to your REOLINK console. I make sure I have strong passwords for all the accounts, change them regularly, and turn off the function unless I plan on traveling and the house will be empty, just in case.
David; Mi NVR stoped working, I'm puzzle as to what is wrong, could it. be the HDD? I have a Reolink NVR model # RLN8-410 with a 2 TB HDD Your help with possible cause and solutions will be appreciated
It may very well be the HDD. My 2tb drive dies after three years. However, are you able to get into the configuration menu? If so, I would suggest you first try re-initializing the HDD.
@@enriquefernandez4662 Yes, please let me know how it goes. Those hard drives get hit hard with continuous video clips coming in, so I am not surprises they can fail early. Also make sure you add the extra cooling I discuss in a couple of my other videos, since I thing that is a contributing facto to the drive failures.
Hi my friend i have the same model of camera like ypu..i have a problem outside a wifi of the house i CANT..see the camera can you guide me what can be the problem..please
Well, there is a Windows App you can run from your desktop computer that is available on the Reolink Website. The current version/file is "reolink_setup_8.16.8_0.exe". Once you have downloaded it, you will need to log into it using the Admin account you created at installation, then in the menu on the left pick the NVR gear (to the right of NVR), then Network, then Advanced. The second entry should be 'Enable UID', which you need to click turning it Blue with the dot to the right.
I would suggest to ask a friend with a laptop if they don't mind downloading the client and you can enable it there and then delete the client from the laptop afterwards. I wish Reolink would just make the "Enable UID" button available on the smartphone app but it doesn't seem likely.
You are very welcome. You may still want to disable that option unless you are planning to heavily use it remotely. There is 'always' additional security risk on your equipment when remote access is enabled.

What do each of these ports do? How vulnerable will this make the system?
