I went to all 4 days of the Summers in 1979. I dragged my Dad to the race and he had no idea what he was in store for. We "camped" at the track Thursday night and there was NO SLEEPING going on there. Last thing I remember is the burning of the shitterz. We got a nice quiet hotel in Freehold for the rest of the weekend. John Force made his first visit to Englishtown that year with the Wendy's Corvette. He was already IMMENSELY popular as the underdog as he was in the Cajun Nationals final earlier that same year.

This was my First ever NHRA National event. I was 16 at the time. Great time.
That's awesome to hear, great memories to have in E-town 🙂
One of my favorite events that I've been to.
Great to have those fun memories in the winner circle you mentioned 🙂
The acting to be busy by pit crews are Oscar winning performances 😂
