- Thanks to Washington Fish Quest we were able to find a fossil dig site in Brooklyn WA. There is a rock wall that was exposed in the mountains at about 1500ft above sea level. This rock face is home to numerous Crab Concretions. I am no Geologist, but I have been told that some of these crabs are about 5 to 10 million years old.

Dang! You're much better at this than me! Congrats on all the concretions and fun family outing!
Washington Fish Quest thanks for showing us that awesome place! A lot of our adventures of because of your videos. Thanks for what you do!
Awesome Dad , Amazing Kid. Who’s filming. Gotta be a great Mom behind there. .
If you think a crab is in a concretion try to split it just off of center length-wise. If crabs are in a concretion it will lay paralel to the layers of the matrix its in. Never fossil hunted before but thats something ive seen. Happy hunting!
this was fun to watch you tried to split the concretion right on the nice paved road
This is a pretty cool spot. Found it today and there are fossils all over the place.
Hello. Lookn to take my kids to get them into hunting!!😉any chance you know a "legal" spot to dig?
If you enjoy hunting fossils, go check out Republic, WA. They have a great site that it continually maintained, and was a lake bed roughly 50 million years ago.
David Meinhart awesome! Thanks for the info.
@@clanslamdance7605reply to my comment above if you wanna do roblox vid's with me if you remember me. because you commented on my minecraft video which i had to take down due to copyright :(
this was fun to watch compared to others that drag the digging. More pls! subbed
Could you kindly share where the location at?
Please check out "Mamlambo Fossils" for a better understanding of what you're trying to do. It's kind of painful to watch you cracking open those concretions with a chisel.
I wholeheartedly approve of what you're trying to do with your daughter. It's great, very admirable, but it will be much better if you're better informed. Good luck and thanks for the video.
Is this legal or do you need a permit? I’m a little worried about running into DNR
Its illegal as it is on DNR land.

I know where this lol
When the crab was alive, it burrowed into the mud and hid. Something happened, mud slide or heavy rain, and it was buried quickly under too much sediment to get out. It's burrow slowly filled with mineralization with the crab shell trapped inside. The burrow was egg shaped, so the fossil ends up being egg shaped.
That's not how concretions form. It's a chemical reaction between the calcium that's released from whatever is being fossilized and the water resulting in calcite. Concretions can form around a number of different items; leaves, fish, bones and of course crabs, etc.

Pretty sure she fibbed about the shoe farts . But it was in heat of battle : so ok.
