I just finished my orientation with McLane (Driver Trainee) TODAY. I'm going through their CDL academy. This video is SO helpful man. I know it's going to be a crazy couple of months with learning everything. I was choppin' it up with one of vet drivers today. He showed me his pay stubs on his phone, and boy I almost had a heart attack. PHD money. Food service is no joke. Those salary sites aren't accurate lol. MOTIVATED me so much. Ready to crush it!
@@gravesvintage glad I could help you out man trust me it will be rewarding when you start doing routes on your own and making extra money 💵 but congrats as well! Hope you make it through on that my brother
@FoodService Driver i have 3 years cdl driving all together. I worked at us foods for 4 months and another foodservice account with jb hunt (cicis pizza) for about 7 months. What pay grade you think they'll start me at?
@FoodService Driver man i loved it but they stopped putting me on cicis routes. They had me doing amazon, rail yards and other accounts. Got tired of that
I guess every food service company is different but all the major companies always have extra board just in case for people who can’t make it they have someone to cover the routes but that’s good that you never heard of it so you’ve been blessed
@@outsid33 honestly bro I don’t think it’s possible because I have had a few trainees that was trying go to school and do this type of work and didn’t work out for them at all. Because FoodService have a hectic schedule your times off going be different. Your not going be off at the same time everyday and your not going be going into work the same time all the time. It may be around the same time but it’s hectic. Unless your really disciplined then yeah but realistically no. Like I said it would be really hard man because of the aspect of the job. Not trying to discourage you but I’m just keeping it real
@@FoodServiceDriver I appreciate your feedback bro. I talked to a supervisor at Mclane on the phone. He said he can get me on 4 days and 1 day extra board. I think I could only do classes if my days off stayed the same. He said he would work with me. I’m gonna call him again
Hey im about to interview for US Foods and sysco. Sysco is 15 mins away and $2500 sign on, us foods is $5000 sign on and 25 minutes away. Which one should I take? Similar pay, us foods starts $1/hr higher.
That 5k sign on could also be a warning....overwork is quite possible and could mean they have trouble retaining workers! All money isn't good money...I've been in food service for 18yrs.
Hey whats up man, I just got hired at McLane in Columbus ohio. I've been looking at all of your videos and appreciate the tips you been dropping. Keep up the great work man.
Depending on your injury if you have an injury and do office stuff then you will be on light duty on hourly pay (depending on the hourly pay where you work at), but if you can’t work and your hurt if your at the company over a year they will pay you short term disability if not then you will be on leave (UNPAID). But if you get injured on the job then you get workers comp which is a joke to be honest. Hope that helps

Basically a bid is where all the routes are open and they put it out there for everyone to see. It will tel you how much cases they average per day, the amount of stops, as well as the miles you will be driving per day, as well as how much money that route pays per week. After that they will call drivers 1 by 1 asking them what routes they want it basically goes of seniority (meaning the person who been there the longest) and it goes all the way down till all the routes are chosen. After that you basically will be on extra board if you wasn’t chosen to have a route

All love bro! With sysco do they contact old employers with the background check I’m not worried about criminal history. How long does a background check take with sysco.
It all depends some companies they will & some they don’t but they just do it for verification for your driving history that’s all & it’s normally anywhere from 1-2 weeks maximum !
Honestly I would go in there and tell them the truth that’s what I did. Tell them how hard of a worker I am and what I can bring to the table and don’t like to disappoint. How much experience do you have ?
