They get no appreciation for anything they do and most if what they do is protect you from stupid and criminal shit other people do.
A mean police man gave me a speeding ticket. Yeah but he wrote it for nine over instead of the 15 over you were driving and the only reason he stopped you at all was all the other dangerous things you were doing and he didn't put that on the ticket so you can still legally drive. No where I have ever heard of does a cop have a ticket quota.
In too many areas, cops ride alone. That means 8, 10, 12 hours or more of tension. A policeman has to worry about every call he goes on, every traffic stop he makes. Last thing he needs to worry about is some asshole in a snowman suit.
