A legend shooting on P. So it’s not just the gear, it’s learning how to use the equipment that you have that makes the difference, I can’t pick a winner because I like both photos a lot, and like both photographers a lot. Great episode.
Please make another video with Joe explaining how he uses P mode to change exposure quickly. He talks about it in your last videos. I think a lot of your viewers would love this.
As someone who has shot extensively on SoCal's beaches the thing that strikes me most about the results from these two amazing photographers is the depth of Joe's experience in that challenging environment. Vanessa, as the extraordinarily talented East Coast and Texas photog she is, is at a distinct disadvantage in not knowing exactly how late afternoon West Coast beach lighting is going to behave and -- more often than not -- misbehave. In any case, another great video with terrific end result prints! Many, many thanks!
Vanessa, you are inspiring. Seeing how cheerful you got in the presence of such a great photographer is unmatched. Thank you for selling the ART this way.
Amazing! I first heard Joe speak back in 2004 and have always found him so inspirational. This is the first time Ive seen him n a few years and still found listening to him very inspiring.
Loved this little shootout, Vanessa, and seeing Joe in action is so heart-warming. And, of course, Michael and Jen are always perfect models for any kind of shootout.
I enjoyed this shootout. Two amazing photographers with different styles. I don’t often go for the visiting team but Joe had the winner of two great shots.
I was out of the country when this video dropped. What I really love the most about this shoot, is that Joe didn't compromise his gear. His gear is already considered by most of the photographers watching this video, budget gear. This just further solidifies for me that it truly isn't about the gear. Joe shoots high end weddings and engagements of clients we can't touch, with a 14 year old camera. Bravo. Clients hire the photographer for the images they produce, not the camera they shoot with.
Great Video Vanessa! I loved both images but I have to give it to Joe. His unique approach by raising the aperture and the ISO up is something I rarely see a wedding photographer do. So often we see blurred background and dreamy bokeh in wedding photography. This video was an eye opener. Thank you Vanessa for this video. Please make another video with Joe showing and explaining how he uses P mode to adjust quickly for exposure.
Both photos look amazing, I give the edge to Joe, not because it is necessarily better, but as he said in your discussion...It is different, especially in how he achieved it and knowing so much about his gear. Two unmatched photographers showing their true talents.
I like these shoot outs they are cool. I actually like both for different reasons and it's because they are different. I can see the pitfalls of switching from a mirrorless to a DSLR. Having that exposure in the evf is helpful. I'm still enjoying your off camera flash book.
It is difficult to say which of the two is the most beautiful ...they are both beautiful photos. What I liked about this video is the experience it gave me! Great inspiration for me, seeing two photographers, two styles, two completely different techniques and observing two wonderful photos ... and without the latest generation cameras ... Thanks for this experience!
I just love these photo challenges, so fun! I do like both photos but I do have to go with Joes on this one. Joe is an inspiration and it really doesn’t matter what mode you use, as long as you are able to get the shot (especially if you can do it in camera).
❤ This was a good video learned a lot and seeing how he work with his subjects to get those natural shots. And how she was so happy to shoot with joe someone she definitely admires his work . Hope to see more videos like this great series.
@@VanessaJoy I watched every one so far accept two of them I’m picking up lots of tips from everyone. And seeing how you work with others and how they are with you is all love makes it fun to watch can’t wait to see the others and who else you with I did a shoot with Brandon Cole he a good friend of mine dont know if you know him.
Wow! A blast from the past Joe spoke at a PPA meeting back in the 90’s when I was getting out of the Marines. I remember asking crazy technical gear questions, he looked at me and said, learn techniques. Loved his presentation in Phoenix at the old PPPA. Thanks for doing this Vanessa love the collaboration, very inspiring
Thanks for sharing the moment. For the vote i can't choose, but one thing is for sure, those 2 images (for me) are really representing old school vs new school.
Good to See Joe again. Hi first met you at the Jacob Javits convention center during the photo show. Your story is very interesting his pictures are very interesting as well as inspiration. Joe is a very smart and true man. Studying human psychology gave him the edge .
Love both photos but I'm going to have lean towards Joe on this one. I love the couple silhouette shot. I still mess around with my 5D Mk III even though I have R3s now. Still a great camera lens/combo for this budget shootout.
It’s kind of an unfair comparison because the photos are completely different. It always comes down to what the use of the photo is. I prefer the darker one as a piece of art but the bright and airy as a beautiful remainder of the moment, something I struggle to capture and you’re a master at. Great job again.
Vanessa for the win here. Your style seems more modern and the highlights fix could have easily been done. I have done the sunburst trick myself quite a few times and it definitely has its use.
I can see two great photos with 2 different signatures/styles and I happen to like both :). I love how Joe explained the "easy trick" (for him) to get that photo on P mode. Thanks for sharing this experience
Vanessa, much as I like your work I have to give this round to Joe, the silhouette of the couple was so phenomenal that I thought that 5d mark 3 was the legendary 5dsr.
i did like both images, i am still shooting with the 5d3 and most often the 50mm, let me know when you want to borrow my gear just to get that old time feeling back
Muchas gracias Vanessa y Joe for such an amazing experience, sharing your knowledge and providing different prospectives and styles.. the entire serie with Joe has been a treat, and as someone who is trying to expand my photography abilities, Joe's photo jornalist style makes me identify with him, maybe because I have been working mostly on wildlife photography and landscape where you wait to capture the moment, instead of directing the subject (there's too much to learn), and muchas gracias por permitirnos aprender de tan grandes maestros!!
Thank you so much for this great video. I use to shoot on a canon ae1 and now looking to update from my 90d to something more pro. I take mostly take landscapes. As far as the pic goes. Your photo is definitely more my style and what I would want as a newly wedded couple. But I love Joes too. Thx again
Well first off I enjoy your videos very much. That being said I have to go with Joe's only because I love shooting silhouettes with the sunburts..But I do enjoy your video and your print was very nice also.
Interesting that such a good photographer as Joe always shoots in "P" mode. Two very different photos from each of you but in this contest, I give the win to Joe.
I still love my two Canon 5DIII's although they are 10 years old. Only reason I would buy a Canon Eos R6 is the flipscreen. I'm getting older and lying on the ground to photograph mushrooms is getting hard. Well, it's getting hard getting up again :-). With a flipscreen I wouldn't have to lie on the ground anymore
Both are excellent and different. In reference to your image, when I am shooting down in that area, I am L.A. based, I usually will underexpose slightly so that I don't blow the highlights and use a strobe on camera to fill in the shadow/shaded subject. This technique still gives me the lovely softness with retaining the highlights. On his, all is good, I would just retouch the spot by the sunburst as it takes my eye straight there and my eye does not focus on the subject first. But all this is just IMO. Overall I like both images.
Thank you for another great video! On this particular one, I’ll have to give it to Joe, but I do love your photo as well! My thinking - two different spreads in the album and the client gets the best of two worlds, should this have been a real wedding shoot :)
Another great video. Both pictures are very good, but Vanessa's is a little too bright for me. Joe's comes in like an advertisement for a destination wedding location. Very nicely done. Thanks to both of you.
Now do a 5D Classic and a 50mm 1.8
Already did here ua-cam.com/video/f4UYTA2XcBg/v-deo.html and here ua-cam.com/video/5cTO-HE2mNY/v-deo.html
I got you 😉
Yup, that would be an awesome combo.
buy Joe's book all those photos in that book is shot with a 5d classic and a nikon d2x. So pretty sure he can handle a 5d classic
A legend shooting on P. So it’s not just the gear, it’s learning how to use the equipment that you have that makes the difference, I can’t pick a winner because I like both photos a lot, and like both photographers a lot. Great episode.
Joe is a real pro....no gear dependent...salute
Please make another video with Joe explaining how he uses P mode to change exposure quickly. He talks about it in your last videos. I think a lot of your viewers would love this.
He actually went over it in this interview and how he locks exposure: ua-cam.com/video/8d5x0G8nH_4/v-deo.html
@@VanessaJoy Thank you Vanessa! I will look over it again. I missed it the first time.

Haha I was quite elated all day
To my humble opinion, Joe wins artistic, but you win on wedding photography
I love this series. Joe takes this one.
Glad you like!
Two of my favorite all time photographers...thanks for the video!! - joe homsy
Joe gets the nod this time, but you were not far behind. Fully enjoyable video, everyone seemed delighted with the experience.
I certainly was!
WoW 😳 the photos are great printed out .
Amazing! I first heard Joe speak back in 2004 and have always found him so inspirational. This is the first time Ive seen him n a few years and still found listening to him very inspiring.
Joe for the win. Both images are top notch though.
Thanks 😊
I'm lost with who to choose both photos are nice and unique for the competition. Thanks for the inspirations always
Joe is sooooo good at what he does and such an inspiration so glad to have seen him work! Both images are stunning!
finally a channel focus more on the photography. thanks for video maam.
I love Joe's shot it's the winner but your's uses what screamed to me, that pier as an element for framing the couple!
5dIII and 70-200mm, one of my all time favorite combos. Used it for many many years.
Both are beautiful
Loved this little shootout, Vanessa, and seeing Joe in action is so heart-warming. And, of course, Michael and Jen are always perfect models for any kind of shootout.
Oh my oh my , JOE BUISSINK is so so amazing, he's genius creative artist Wow 😳
I enjoyed this shootout. Two amazing photographers with different styles.
I don’t often go for the visiting team but Joe had the winner of two great shots.
They are both gorgeous...but Joe's won me over!

Loved this video and especially the conversation in the beginning! So hard to choose because I love them both!❤️💙❤️💙
Love love love this kind of content.
Happy to hear it!
The shot of the sunset is my favourite, and you did a phenomenal job shooting a variety of breathtaking images.
I like these shoot outs they are cool. I actually like both for different reasons and it's because they are different. I can see the pitfalls of switching from a mirrorless to a DSLR. Having that exposure in the evf is helpful. I'm still enjoying your off camera flash book.

Another wonderful shoot out. So much fun. I like Vanessa’s pic. Thank you all for doing this series.
Thanks for sharing the moment. For the vote i can't choose, but one thing is for sure, those 2 images (for me) are really representing old school vs new school.
Joe gets my vote. I’ve always loved a sunburst image!
Its a Tie!!
Two beautiful photos! You guys are amazing at how you capture that perfect moment. Thank you both for sharing!
love yours
I love both! Vanessa's pic is portrait pretty and Joe's pic is artistic gorgeous
I LOVE BOTH!!!

Joe's photo is emotionally evocative.
It is!

love it for beginner photographer it make it inspiring to us..
Wow it's hard to choose one because they are both amazing.
Joe gets my vote
Joe's from another league, of course. Good video!
Great directing! Masterclass
Thanks 😊
5D Mark 3 REPRESENT!
heck yeah!
Great job by both pros!

Both the photos are unique in terms of categorical 1) Silhouette image 2) Hi key image
Got to give this one to Joe.
One vote for Joe's
He’s the best
Love the video. I used older camera for some fun product shots and selfie. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this great video. I use to shoot on a canon ae1 and now looking to update from my 90d to something more pro. I take mostly take landscapes. As far as the pic goes. Your photo is definitely more my style and what I would want as a newly wedded couple. But I love Joes too. Thx again
Another great video. I didn't care it was not truly "budget". I love the different styles...
I mean… you can get that setup for under $1000 🤷🏻♀️
Have to go with Joe on this one.
Haha I hear you there
Lol 5d iii has better files than the r6 and better colors than any current canon. I’m sure photos came out amazing.

That was really fun. I prefer Joe's photo
It’s all about the camera
🙄
Vanessa , I have to give this one to Joe.
I concur ☺️
I was wondering, shooting directly into the sun like Joe did, doesn't that damage the sensor?
So I’ve heard but I’ve never seen it happen
if i have to choose style i prever yours 😊
Love the pro 200 printer. Mine does an absolutely wonderful job and it's easy to use. Would love if the ink came a bit cheaper though!
Ink is always the thing right!
I'm a solid Vanessa Joy fan
Aw thanks ☺️
Great video again, so happy to see your smile...
Can i know what's the camera setting of Mr.Joe photo...please
was sort of expecting this after previous Joe videos .. lol. Good post.
Haha we did a Joe week here ☺️
Another great video. Both pictures are very good, but Vanessa's is a little too bright for me. Joe's comes in like an advertisement for a destination wedding location. Very nicely done. Thanks to both of you.
Very nice photo 🙏
Thanks a lot ☺️
My 850 nikon camera please give mi pitcher profile perfect to wedding photos and camera setting please🙏
