    Jeffrey Weissman here. (I played George McFly in part two & three)
    I knew Crispin from a film we did at AFI a few years before BttF. & he rocked in BttF.
    When I met Zemeckis, I was originally asked to be Crispin's "stand in/photo double".
    I was told he wasn't coming back, and was shocked.
    Crispin sued and settled out of court for 765,000 USD.
    I got to be a part of one of the best trilogies Hollywood ever produced, and 'have been treated well by the film franchise fans all over the world.

      Jeffrey Weissman wow such a honor to see you here. It’s nice you have responded the way you did to clear the air whilst remaining neutral. And you responding here really shows how much you appreciate your fans. I am a fan of both you and Crispin. And it seems you were very cordial about all that has happened. Crispin did a fantastic job playing George McFly and you did a great job working on 2 and 3. I have read your Reddit AMA and I am so sorry you went through so much. I hope despite the setbacks, you are able to still continue doing what you love with acting 🙏💖

    I remember the papers here in Southern California making a big deal about how Crispin would not do the BTTF2 film. And when it came out that the studio would insert a body double instead, it just felt wrong, as if the studio was saying, "A HAH! We have your face-mold, so we'll use that and NOT PAY YOU." I applaud Crispin for having integrity. He had every right to walk away when they would not pay him what he wanted, and they had no right to use his image in new ways and not pay him.

    I'm so glad he's got the truth out there and SAG have updated their rules so others don't suffer the way he has had to.

    It's a lie that he wanted Michael J Fox's amount of money for the sequels. They offered him half of what they offered the actors for Biff and the mother. Now that's just not fair. Also, they didn't like him. Shooting the first film wasn't a comfortable process for Crispin, the dynamics between him and the creators wasn't good. So I understand saying no to a sequel, and they made a dick move by using him. Yes, they own the character of George McFly, but they don't own Crispin's face, that's his.

      GalacticChicken he ended up reworking with Zemeckis in Beowulf so I’m thinking he was mostly upset with Bob Gale. None of us was there when they negotiated so I’m afraid this will be forever a mystery. Despite what Crispin, Bob Gale and Weissman has said about the controversy. But I see there is some “facts” that overlap one another. Lea Thompson has mentioned that Crispin felt the ending was about materialism which is in line with one of the reasons Crispin said for not being in the sequel and third film. Gale, Crispin and Weissman all mentioned something about compensation. Gale claimed he asked for a million. And Crispin mentioned being offered much less than other supporting actors. Which is unfair if true. I believe I have heard most of the actors of BTTF mention Gale wasn’t very nice to Crispin. So we can surmise what could be true and what’s unknown. I think it’s obvious they didn’t treat Crispin well and I feel most sorry for Weissman who had to be in full prosthetics upside down on what was probably a lower salary than what they offered Crispin and Weissman also ended up getting black listed.

    I was wondering about that! Hmmm. Big fan of BTTF. But if Crispin didn't want to do the sequels, how were they ALLOWED to make it seem as though he was in it via prosthetics? They weren't. Mystery solved. Yiiikes. I knew there was a little resentment there.

    • @EtoTheKay
      @EtoTheKay 7 років тому +5

      Look at his IMDB page...lol what sledgehammer? The man has worked consistently every year since BTTF. And Spielberg doesn't equal "much of Hollywood", he's ONE producer.

    • @ingc3852
      @ingc3852 5 років тому +1

      EK it is now being said that Crispin did not want to do the sequel because he found out how some producers like young boys. He wanted nothing to do with them. Just what I heard, have no idea if true or not.

    To be honest, he should have done part 2 and 3. Because frankly his career hasn;t exactly been the mainstream fair it could have been. Charlie's Angels and Beowulf? I mean tbh it's unfair that Tom Wilson isn't a bigger star. But Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd are always working on things.

    • @EtoTheKay
      @EtoTheKay 7 років тому +4

      So you're saying he should've done 2 and 3 for peanuts compared to actors in the film that had lesser roles? Please, principle is principle. A line has to be drawn somewhere. And you don't have to be an A-lister to have a successful career. Look at his IMDB page, the man has worked consistently every year and many years multiple times a year since BTTF.

    I don't think that crisipin glover will ever deserve an acting award, because he always does, essentially, the same performance.
    Though, he could get something for his directorial work, I've heard it's good.

    I said he was overrated, not that I would choose Zemeckis over Spielberg. Maybe read the comment properly before replying... I couldn't say who is better because I really havent given it any thought. They are both very generic directors...

  • @karadan100

    At least Glover isn't on Acid for this interview.

  • @TheKBPictures
    @TheKBPictures 11 років тому +1

    I don't remember even saying Zemeckis over Spielberg... Did you read that somewhere else? Like I said I think they are both very generic directors. Spielberg is overrated, he has not done anything as a director that stands out to me as groundbreaking. Look at directors like Tarrantino, Fincher, The Coen Bros, Kubrick, Nolan that all have films that have a specific directorial style, they do things uniquely, not Spielberg though, just a generic director, not bad, just generic. Make sense? F. U.

    • @michaelwilson4972
      @michaelwilson4972 7 років тому

      agreed. Spielberg was an idol as a kid, but I got older and realized his films weren't pretty shallow. I respect his work, but he's overrated

  • @fourbyfourer

    I think it looks good on Crispin Glover after suing Steven Spielberg and then not having a very succesful career. Looks like Karma bit him in the ass.

    • @EtoTheKay
      @EtoTheKay 7 років тому +2

      How do you define successful career? Cause looking at his IMDB page, the man has done something every year since BTTF, and multiple times a year at that. Crispin didn't have the look or ability to be an A-lister anyway, regardless of his BTTF drama.

  • @TheKBPictures
    @TheKBPictures 12 років тому

    Spielberg is overrated hack, and it was Zemeckis who directed, Spielberg produced which means he wouldn't have a great deal if any creative involvement in the film. I do however wonder why he wouldn't want to come back...

    • @ingc3852
      @ingc3852 5 років тому

      KB Pictures Fast forward...I heard he did not want to go back because of all the pedo stuff. I do not know the whole story, but apparently Crispin found out how some producers like young boys. He wrote some kind of essay about it, which then was deleted but can still be found. I just came from a vid that read some of it. I came here because I did not know that it was not him in part 2 until 10 min ago.

    • @EtoTheKay
      @EtoTheKay 7 років тому +11

      Someone who has self respect and integrity. I love the BTTF series, i've seen each one probably 20+ times. But offering a guy a lowball salary, compared to actors in the film with lesser roles even, then adding insult to injury by using his likeness in part 2 by adding his face molds and prosthetics to another actor to make him look like Crispin...come on man, you gotta draw the line somewhere. Principle is principle.

    have you guys seen the interview with the director of Back the the future.... he said he was demanding to much,and the director said no because his role wasn't big enough for the stuff he was asking for... so they got rid of him... this guy makes a lot of weird movies.. I don't think he's that good...

    •  4 роки тому

      Most people siding with Crispin haven't seen that interview. This guy is bitter that he declined one of the most popular franchises ever, thus altering his-story for ever.

    • @willpow05

      That's not the point of the lawsuit?

  •  4 роки тому

    This guy is obvioulsy bitter that he was written out of the movie because he said no to the money offered to him at the time. If you know the history of the movie you know Crispin is lying.
