Those were clones in the flashback, so it had to have been in the first couple years after the Empire took over. The people in the crowd are yelling “love live the republic” so that must’ve been the Empires “galactic tour” so to speak
2:05 - If you remember back to the end of Revenge of the SIth, the basic frame of the Death Star had already been constructed.... This series started 15 years later, so... yeah... a lot of progress has been made on that thing. 2:35 - technically, he doesn't. However, he left the Senate in place to give the citizens the illusion of "having a voice" in government. Also, dissidents like Mon Mothma can be easily exposed by opposing anything the "puppet" government approves. Once the "Ultimate Weapon" was completed, the Senate was no longer necessary ("The Imperial Senate will no longer be of any concern. I have just been informed that the Emperor has dissolved the council permanently. Regional Governors will now have direct control over their territories." - Grand Moff Tarkin (Episode IV: A New Hope). And to think.... when the Prequel Trilogy came out, a lot of people lost their minds over all of the "political BS" involved. What they failed to realize is that the "inner workings" of the Empire could be considered a warning for Real Life. 2:50 - "Everyone gets a life sentence." ... You're not all that wrong with that. I won't give out spoilers... except to say that... You are a lot more correct than you may think. 6:45 - To Vel, Cassian is a "loose end". She has no clue if he is trustworthy or not. Given what is at stake, she is taking no chances. 7:00 - No, that "Corporate Security Force" has been replaced by the Empire. THAT is what the chubby older guy was trying to warn Cyril Carn about (as another channel called him, "Mister Extra Credit". ;) 7:50 - Cassian knows that physical money can't be traced. Using a false name (like Jin did in Rogue One), along with enough credits, can keep someone hidden for quite a while. 9:10 - Mon's "old friend" listens very carefully.... but so should you. Given what he's said, he's already somewhat involved, 15:15 - Dedra is definitely working her way up the Imperial ladder. She is really "on the ball", and partially thanks to Cyril Carn. His desire to "clear his name" has gotten her attention, so it's going to be wild finding out how far she makes it. Oh, yeah, and Blevin REALLY messed up by trying to assert his authority over her. You might say that he "fucked around, and is finding out". ;) Also, while the name may not ring a bell right now, General Yularin (sp) is in that room while this is going on. He was one of the Imperials in the conference room while Tarkin was verbally dueling with Darth Vader in A New Hope. The actor they cast to play the younger looks like the Episode IV actor, as well as his "Clone Wars" animated series portrayal. 17:32 - No, but it's the same model of Imperial Droid. 18:17 - Yeah, some BS charge. Just like in "real life"... 18:33 - I don't know how old you are, or if you ever worked in retail before... but that "device" used to stamp Cassian's charges/punishment was just like the old "Knucklebuster" (credit card imprint device for carbon copies of receipts).
I don’t know if you’d call it retail, but used to drive a peterbilt 379 for a company that sold roofing materials. I am definitely old enough to have used a “knucklebuster”. Never heard it called that, but you are making me laugh from how true that is.
@@TopnessReactions What can I say... I worked retail jobs for about 20 years.... and those damned things busted enough of my knuckles to earn the name. LMAO! But yeah, I'm smiling just knowing that you can relate to that term for those things.
"Thesis, please," is one of my favorite lines and I don't know why lol. The acting and dialogue makes the conversations so compelling. Mon's whole "smile" conversation is perfectly done. The talk between Cass and Bix feels so real. Marva's "that's just love" conversation is so perfect. I wish the other Disney Wars shows took note, most of the time they just have actors standing with arms crossed and camera locked off like its a cartoon and they don't want to pay to animate people too much. I did a group watch of this with some friends in Eastern European countries, scenes like the courtroom scene hit hard because of how their countries were until not long ago. That's what makes Andor so great. Gilroy obviously has an agenda with a message so to speak, but it's woven into the plot in a realistic, non pandering, kind of way that doesn't really slap you in the face.
The Emperor still maintains a facade of democracy at this time. Remember, it's only in A New Hope that the emperor disbanded the Senate. Even the ISB and military must be slowly persuaded to accept the emperor is like an absolutist king. Does the emperor REALLY needs the Senate approval. No. But the facade is best kept if he gets it. This resembles a lot the Roman Empire after Octavian Augustus becomes Princeps Civitatis (first citizen) while always maintaining the facade of continuity of the Roman Republic
Another excellent episode with a lot to unpack. 1) The ISB finally has it's hands untied, and now Dedra can look into the shootout from episode 3. Who knows where that investigation will lead. Also, you know who the officer from the beginning is. That was Colonel Yularen, formerly our Admiral from the Clone Wars. 2) Mon Mothma is also finally getting some time to shine. We have more spotlight on her difficulties, her character, and what she's been doing for the rebellion. 3) After Cassian robs a garrison, he gets sent to prison for walking on the beach. Now that ISB is looking for him, the Empire already has him. With the Empire's new prison laws, I wonder if you can guess how horrible this prison will be.
Marrva's partner or husband was Clem. The same name Cassian took for the Aldahni heist. The more the Empire tightens it's grip, the more star systems will slip through it's fingers. One thing that this episode really disappointed me with was the resolution to Cassian's sister sub plot. Early on I had a theory that Marrva and Clem went back and picked up any kids that survived after they got away and then they settled on Ferrix and had a nice little scrapyard and smuggling operation. The children were adopted by other people in teh village and they all grew up on Ferrix including Cassian's sister. But months ago she got sick of being on Ferrix and ran away. Cassian somehow got wind of a girl saying she was from Kenari and that is why he was there. Now it makes no sense to me why he was looking for her now when he knows she was killed after the ship crashed on Kenari. Over the years he could have gone to Kenari to see for himself. I just think it was a missed opportunity because Bix, Pack, and Brasso and Cassian certainly fit the age that they could have been survivors from Kenari and are humsns with dark features. The Mon Mothma stuff is great here and she looks fabulous. The ISB stuff is great as well with Dedra getting the upper hand over Blevins. Strange how we were rooting for her early on but now, she could catch our man. And yes, Kleya looks great when not in the shop and Vel cleans up nicely!
The utilitarian buildings are a combination of real location and cgi. The concrete pathways are in London, a large complex of "Brutilist" architecture called "The Barbican". It has a theatre, restaurants and apartments. I visited it afterwards and took photos of myself in the same exact places she walks down and stands.
Andor is the best written and acted star wars! ✌️
Without a doubt!
There's more acting in this one episode than in whole seasons of some of the other Disney Wars...makes me sad :(

Thanks, Topness! 🪪 ANDOR won Best New Genre Television Series at the *Saturn* *Awards* last night!!!
the writing in episode 7 is literally 10/10. every scene is so intense and they're mostly all just talking. it's so so good.

Isn't the stormtrooper that arrests Cassian played by Sam Witwer aka voice of Maul?

If Cassian wasn't pissed about the Empire before, he sure is now.
Another great episode. Andor is really the best SW show. Thank You for Your reaction.

Great reaction! Good for you you don't have to wait another week for the episode to be released, like we did!
I think i wrote a comment back in episode 4 about the isb supervisor praising Deedra for her high above the quota detention numbers
Not all that much to say about this episode. It’s more so setup for the next three episodes, which are absolutely incredible!
