All of these houseplants are considered non-toxic for cats and dogs, but do keep in mind that some digestive upset is still possible with any plant if your pet eats a significant amount!

I have to spray my plants (and fake plants 🙄) with bitter apple hot spot spray to keep them safe FROM cats. Stuff works wonders! My boy sees me pull out the distinctive yellow and green bottle and runs away squinting because he is so offended by the smell and taste, as if I've ever or would ever spray him with it (I wouldn't dare, he's my angel baby). Another hot tip to protect the decorative plants is to bargain with sacrificial plants, such as cat grass (wheat grass) or catnip! My babies are particularly fond of the grass. Super easy to grow, and you can get seed packs for cheap! Sometimes you can even find it pre-grown at the grocery store for like half the price of the stuff at pet shops!
I have owned a ponytail palm while having one of my own cats living with me as well as one that belonged to my roommate at the time. the ponytail palm is basically a toy in plant form for them 😭

Also a reminder to secure your Tylenol, tylenol is lethal to cats so make sure no loose pills are lurking around in your house. Doesn’t matter a smol kitten or mighty tiger, Tylenol is lethal to all cats

I was looking at eventually getting a cat (but I'm waiting until I'm a little stable). A black cat to be specific because of the high euthanasia rate in shelters. I've never owned a cat before, and this video definitely helps...if I ever decide to bring any plants into my home. I'll have at least a base understanding of what's safe.
I had a mostly black cat once, he had quite the personality, as is typical for black cats. Thank you for choosing to adopt one of them first.
Black cats have very strong personalities but they are loyal, loving, and love affection. Males are more outgoing and can be ornery but the females are very sweet and loving. I had 2 shorthair black males who were the best cats ever. Currently I have 1 shorthair male and 1 longhair male, both can be ornery but the longhair can be obnoxious and demanding. I have 1 shorthair female inside and 1 outside I care for, both girls are very sweet. Most of all my cats came from outside, usually left behind or dumped outside. You are right, there is still this misconception about black cats. Both black cats and black dogs are the last and least adopted. They deserve a home and a loving family just as any others.
Just a fair warning, they like to practice their ninja camouflage skills. They will sit perfectly still in plain sight and watch as you spend 15 minutes looking for them. And yes, they will be silently judging you

I normally wind up killing my plants. I had a curly spider plant and a regular but somehow my liked spider plants. He chewed of the tips of all the leaves, he definitely seemed under the influence. It was quite funny to watch.
I always try to research plants that will be safe to have around my kitties. Orchids are one I've come across, and I'm so happy to hear money trees are too as i was literally thinking of getting one!
I think the cast iron plant is the only one who would survive MY cat. She likes to breaks things off and tip things over.
That one is from easyplant so the pot is full of water which makes it extremely heavy, I can barely even lift it myself 😅 definitely won't be knocked over by a cat

Omg I hope new cat owner see more videos like this. My roommate brought in LILY FLOWERSSS!! Into our house and I obviously do not check what she brings in to her room to respect her privacy, but then when I saw my cat around a bouquet, I immediately snatched him away. I didn’t even know it had lilys I was just being careful. Then I saw rheumatologist lilys and got so mad. Thankfully nothing happened to my babies. I hope everyone starts spreading more information about this. It was VERY scary. I couldn’t sleep whole night because I was paranoid
