Traded in my original Trio for the Trio Plus tonight! Such a great tool and the upgrades are fantastic. This is just such a great tool for ANY musician to jam, record ideas on the fly, semi-compose. It's the notebook for a new generation. Bravo Digitech for getting back in the game!
This thing is so amazing! I use it for home jamming and staying fresh between gigs. I also use it with my students while teaching them guitar. R&B & Alt Rock settings are my favorite and can get funky too. One recommendation I have is definitely make sure you have a separate monitor to send the Bass & Drums mix to... I also roll off the treble a bit with the monitor's built-in EQ - I agree with other users that the "high-end" treble can be a bit much. When it's rolled off, your guitar sits in the "mix" much better.
Anyone looking into getting one of these GET ONE. I am serious. I have the original TRIO and since I purchased it since I use it for recording and mixing it has been a real game changer. And now they have the PLUS with even more features for $100 more. Wow. I am impressed. I love my TRIO.
I have had one of these for about 3wks and been workin with it none stop is a great idea i watch every video of it before i purchased i even downloaded manual to read through it. What i have found that none of the videos showing a musician singing a song with it its always putting leads and overbubs which is cool if you choose that . I have found that you cannot play a overdub the length of the whole song like a acoustic part what it will do is start looping back what you have just played and screws up the overdub it stops and starts looping Digitech tells me i have to learn all parts to make the song this product is so new there is not very much customer info out there its a great idea but some of these things could be solved with a firmware upgrade via usb port thanks
Hello Ford, congratulations, not only for your mastery with the guitar but also for your friendliness. I would appreciate it if you could clarify for me if, as the manual says, all the effects are connected to the Trio through its FX loop, or if the gain and drive effects can be better connected to the main guitar input (as happens with amplifiers), thank you.
you were using looper the wrong way. Blinking red means looper is armed and waiting for the loop to get to beginning. Solid red means it is recording. It then turns green and plays back. When you press looper again it turns orange and you can overdub.
okay the point is I like to compare the trio+ with the element xp which I own. when we start a tune or phrase, you 'll have to figure out the drum line, baseline and so on. with the trio+ you don't need a drummer or bass player or bass al together. at the other hand you're free to do what you want, not hampered by the machine...what do you think?
+Major Wheelock Sell it? It's still a great pedal, and not everyone needs looping. I already have a separate loop pedal, plus my POD HD has a looper. Not as convenient as having all in one, but probably not worth upgrading for me. Plus I have no need to save anything. If I create something I like then I actually record it for real.
I kinda wish there was a digital display. I wonder how you can store multiple songs on an SD card and know what song you are on. Also is there a way to mute the drums and bass and pickup right where you left off. I have the Beat Buddy drum pedal and I really like it but it doesn't have the bass.
I just got this thing. If I teach it G-E-C-G for example it ALWAYS plays back G-E-C-G-G ... It tacks an extra measure on every time. Any way to fix this?
FPChris my bro has one and it would do it for me too, I wasn't making the chords clear enough, so I had to make sure that all the chord tones were really clear and stop doing shapes that would normally imply a chord based on what I was playing and where was going.
I've tried just the headphones with guitar plugged in and the guitar tone is very weak! Also my PRS sounds very muddy and lots of lows. Is this a known issue?
Apologies if this is addressed somewhere below, but can someone please confirm whether I can use two 9v 500ma outputs from my Fender Engine Room Level 12 to power the Trio instead of the big wall wart it comes with? Thanks.
Okay, so I already have a JamMan, and the trio looks kinda cool. I wish I could just consolidate them both into one pedal to save some real estate. This looks like the answer, buuuuuuut... I'm not going to drop $300 just to do that, and leave me with the nuisance of trying to sell my old looper without taking a huge loss. Oh technology... It's definitely love/hate lol.
is it possible to use the headphone out as an audio out into an amplifier to bypass built in modeling and multi-effects that are part of the amplifier. the whole reason I returned mine was cuz I could not get it to go into the amplifier clean it had an enormous Buzz which was just not tolerable. it also rendered it useless for recording purposes. perhaps you can give me some tips on this or maybe I jumped the gun thinking that the headphone out would not double as an audio out? please if you have any suggestions for this let me know getting rid of this thing was one of the hardest things I had to do because I really didn't want to and would gladly buy it back again if I found a way around this problem. I need it to be able to not only sound clean coming through the amp but be able to record cleanly as well when I say cleanly I mean no buzz? please help it would be much appreciated.
Was it just something simple like the fact that you were using an unbalanced out from it, so going into a DI with ground lift might help? the Radial Bigshot ABY might do it, that's as close to a DI as you'd need without paying huge dollaaaagh!
HI...MY NAME IS JAY... JUST WONDERING WHY MY STYLE KNOB IS VERY TOUCHY IT JUMPS VERY QUICKLY SOMETIMES ...IS THIS NORMAL?. AND DOES IT HAVE ANY FIRM UPDATES AS YET? CHEERS JAY.
It could be much more useful if: 1. Bass line and drum could be recorded as MIDI files and then exported to any DAW software to edit them. Guitar could be recorded as a wave file. 2. Drum machine could be used while recording to keep the tempo.
Re.: Digitech trio plus, 1- is it possible to get the guitar solo/melody signal away from looping, bass and drums? 2- if I have the guitar effects built-in the Amp itself, how I can use it for only solos/melody? Thanks in advance.
Hey, Hossam! Thanks for your interest. You can control the bass and drum volumes independently, but if you’re asking about sending separate audio outputs for the bass/drums/guitar I don’t think that there would be an easy way to go about that. If you want to have an effects signal path separate from a dry signal path that you send in to the looper, you would just need a signal splitter before the looper pedal, like the Morley Gold ABY switch. That would allow you to split your signal, one going to the looper and another going to your amp for effects. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ABYMIXGold--morley-aby-mix-gold-2-button-mixer-combiner-pedal I hope this helps! Incredible machine but, what’s missing is: 1) to be able to copy a part to another, exemple part 1 with rythme guitar to be copied to part 2 in order to ADD arpeggios on the same arrangement. 2) the automatic saving is not practical, let’s say you’re experimenting different genre and you forget to go back to the first choice , it’s the last one that been saved.
Yes its great. But who supports it now since DigiTech was sold by Harmon to CoreTek. For now the phone number and email provided in the user manual are dead. They let go many employees at DigiTech too in April 2022. Is Sweetwater working to get CoreTek aka Cort Guitars to offer customer and warranty repair support?
+anton van wamelen You can just play your chord changes and then twist knobs until you find what you like best. The Trio will start with whatever the current setting may be, but you are not locked into that.
Any smart phone with Internet, an amp with aux, or any other sound source to connect your phone to and playing over backing tracks from the Internet is much easier, cheaper.
to be fair, a backing track from the internet doesn't change itself to match where you want to go or the style you want to do. Not saying this can take the place of a band, but for something to write songs with or just practice with, seems like a good thing to me. Is it kind of gimmicky? Yes. Does it have the best drum sound ever? No. Is it for everbody? No. But, there are some people who would use the ever living crap out of this thing for either fun or practice or songwriting or all three. Just saying...
Having tried this, in many and multiple configurations, it’s always a compromise. This thing is PERFECT to practice and get creative. It’s like a peloton of guitar

I have the drum machines that are much more sophisticated and have awesome sound that trio plus lack of. If I could sync it I would turn the volume down completely and use just the bass and looper parts of this pedal. I will wait until trio ++ is out with the midi sync function. Until then I will hold my money :-)
+Bill625 Good product, i trust digitech, this idea was in my mind since 1997, but i suggest to improve backing tracks sound quality, and human feel with more styles. Also drums loops played by world famous drummers, idem for bass players.
It still sounds like a cheesey drum machine. The sibilance is over the top and irritating. It would have been good if they could record a session drummer with proper samples of real drums for each style. Of alternatively, put the brains behind this into a vst app and allow people to add pro samples to get something more realistic sounding. The pedal is a cool concept though. They refined the features with this version. Hopefully the next version will improve on the tones.
+Mark Emmerton I set up a pedalboard and put an OD pedal after the Trio and a delay pedal after that. I can get some old school, low fi goin' with the OD pedal and then warm it up with a little delay. It really takes away a lot of the "fakeness" of the pedal. I love it though it's made me a much, much better player in a short amount of time.
I just picked one up and it's a great practice tool. The sounds are fine. I'm not recording tracks with it for crying out loud. It's for practice, and fun!
Way to go DigiTech, put human rhythm sections out of work and hurt the music by replacing living breathing musicians with stupid and inferior programmed sounds that make Muzak sound good. This thing is made for one reason and one reason only: $greed$.
+lastdaysguitar Or, ya know, someone that wants to jam on song ideas without having to go find a bassist and drummer into their exact style, or someone like myself that struggles to write music without more than just the guitar to go off of.
