I think I figured it out. bottom right click the expansion browser then the trap soul & lofi (same cover as what he shows) then under programs-lofi-kit choose your kit then you should be able to load as he shows under programs. thanks for this question I cam here because I had the same problem, so I hope this helps anyone even though I'm 8 months late
@David Stadium Heights I'm not going to buy the MK2 because its software is the same as The free MPC beats. The MPC beats has bad glitching and bugs like not stopping the sound when stop is pressed strange grafic glitches. The worst is that it keeps randomly deleting midi that's been previously put down for example I record the bass drum and then what to record the hi hats its deleting the bass drum midi. Very annoying and makes it unusable.
you dont explain how to load lofi drum kit and where did you get the melody from?? every confusing tutorials for something that is marketed so easy to use. always wanted to learn production and sampling but this beyond frustrating!
I followed your project to the T up to the 16 level tune part. Mine does not do that :-( it will let me click 16 level but it does not spread to the pads .. HELP !
hello, at min 0:45 when you select the program and you choose the LoFi Kit, if i do the same i do not have this program, i have just an empy list. How to add this program? where can i download? or is it included in the Mpc beats software and i should just add it? can you explain please? tnx in advance
Fired my Mikro MK3 up today. Got to this "tutorial" and it all came back as why I gave up on this thing. at the :47 mark none of us have the lo fi project to load. m guessing you left out a step. Several users on this thread have also mentioned this, but there is no response. We at least deserve your time/effort if we bought your product. Please clarify on shy we do not have the option as you did. br
Great guide! When adding 808s using 16 levels, I can get it to work internally on MPC beats, but not on the pads on my MPK miniplay. Is there a way to configure them so that they work like they do in the video (around 3:04)?
It’s really not that easy, press one button and it’s playing something else until you press stop 2 times, then you press something else and it gets rid of a track etc, am I the only one who is too thick for this software? 🤦🏼♂️ all I want to do is sample some beats because logic sampler is rubbish compared to mpc beats 😞
My MPC-1000 died (it skips when scrolling with the wheel) a while ago and I was so sad, but now I'm back on the MPC grind digitally. Now, it's time for some hardware again, Thanks!
The instruction at 2mins 54secs did not work for me. I followed the steps, but on each of the 8 pads in banks A and B, I still had all the previous drum/percussion sounds I used to create the beat from the start.
@@nickhillier7242 I found that if you change your input to the “(plugin)” option instead of the regular input option this fixed it for example, I changed my input device from “Akai mpk mk3” to “Akai mpk mk3 plugin” Hope this helps
In my program all I have is Program 001 and how do I get the other sounds you show in your video, I have installed everything I believe correctly, I connected my akai mpd218 hardware

This are the best serie of tutorials you can find. Extremely organized and logical on steps and sequences of what to do now and what to do next. Straight to the point without wasting any time, while being super clear and not overwhelming. Of course, nothing will show up if you don't do your homework and install all the packages and do every you have to do to make the software fully usable before trying to do anything. Even I -a completely beginner- can follow along and begin to comprehend the logic of the interaction between the AKAI mini and the software. Great job!
MPC beats is cool and all but I'm not digging that you out right took essentials from us. At least with essentials I could run as many instances inside my DAW as my PC could handle. Now I'm stuck to one instance of beats no mater what.
question guys i just got an mpd226 and when i set up mpc beats it recognized my mpd. The problem is i have still had to click the pads on the DAW and no sounds come from me pressing my actual mpd. it works fine in ableton live so i know im doing something wrong. Any ideas? i know its hooked up because i see a light on the daw when i press pads just no sounds

Courtesy of @Zendoe: This comment will hopefully fix your Lofi beat problem: In the video, he didn't show us where he got the program but through some messing around i finally figured it out. What you have to do is go to your MPK mini Software Manager, download and install the one that says Trap Soul & Lofi Beats. After this i restarted MPC beats, then at the bottom right of the screen their should be an icon that says Expansion Browser (X), it sort of looks like bullet points with lines. Click that and you should see a screen pop up on the right side of your screen, this should contain all your install programs from the MPK mini Software Manager, and therefor you should see the Trap Soul and Lofi beats in ther eif you have installed it. Click it, go to programe, then Lofi, then double click the bottom one that says LS with U Kit C. Now you should see a loading bar come up. Then follow the video's tutorial. This is what worked for me so i hope it does for you as well.
This stuff I so bloody hard. I’m one step away to throw my Akai out of the window. Pads doesn’t work even if they did yesterday with the same settings. When they worked yesterday, I tried to record, but nothing happened. It’s making me really nervous and NO FUN AT ALL COMING OUT OF IT! I’ll get back to my guitar!!! Ffs
try to find "set up startup wizard" this will automatically assign your knobs and pads. The workflow is a science especially if you don't have expansions, you need to sample basically everything and chop basically everything. The expansions just make the sound selections for you. Give me your controller if you aint using it xD
I'm also a little frustrated that the midi map resets to a point where it's very fucked and messed up and I need to find startup wizard whenever that happens, so basicaly I need to make sure I do startup wizard before anything else to avoid frustration. Akai, please do something about this in the next update

How do I play normal piano without it being weird? Currently after I record a piano track it sound a little weird, some notes are quicker, some notes are missed, even though I played correctly on the mpk 3, does it have to do with the tempo? I played with it but still got to good results as to what I was actually playing on the mpk compared to in the daw
You can't play keyboard and can't hit keys right. While you may think your playing is good, it's just a placebo. Ask other person to listen to your playing and he/she will tell you are way off. It's just simpler to sequence note by note, or use auto-quantize function, then humanize/shuffle/swing if you want to. Also you can use fixed velocity for piano patch (almost 100 % sure, used in video).

The expansion packs included with MPC Beats will be installed again. If you have purchased expansion packs, be sure to archive the installers for future use.
2:53 the 16 level TUNE function does NOT work like that? the physical MPC controller doesnt work on the pads and everyone online seems to say it cant? so how is this guy doing it? why isnt he showing steps? he didnt even show that you needed to change from VELOCITY to TUNE when explaining in the first place? this is BAD for your brand yo.
Just like landing a 747 for the first time. After setting the flaps at 25° simply pull back the blue lever to lower the landing gear. Except there is no blue lever.
Any help. My knobs don't seem to be assigned to anything such as quantise and time division. My Akai MPK 3 is set up and working, just no knob functions assigned?
Sooo, I'm completely new to all of this but what he isn't showing is A. What template he used and, more importantly, B. How/if he had to load the files for the Lo-fi Drum kit at the 48 second mark. On my screen the file browser is open on the right side, and I think by default it was open to c:\ProgramData\Akai\MPC\content. If yours is not open look for the harddrive button on the bottom right hand side (just left of the help button), or try pressing your f key. Once you have found the content folder drag the browser left to see the full folder names and select the one ending 'trapsouldandlofibeats'. That is where you will find the LoFi Kit LS with U Kit C drum kit. Double click it and then go to the program menu on the left side and it should be there just like in the video. Sorry if this isn't written very clearly. It would have been a lot simpler to show it in the video.
You are a legend. One thing to add, you have to have downloaded the 'Trap Soul & LoFi Beats' expansion from the InMusic Software centre, and it's the .xpm file you want
Well reading the comments, it looks like we're all in the same boat and can't use the software very effectively. It's kinda tough to use. I with they provided much more detailed tutorials. I really enjoy these videos, but they're not specific and pretty much no one can follow along without solving many problems on their own. Akai, you'll get sooo many more users if you can simply provide some detailed tutorials, specifically regarding solving many common technical issues and explaining the overall intended workflow design of the softeare. Thanks for what you have provided though! Mpc beats hasn't gotten me far, but it has opened the door at least.
So true, the software seems so powerful yet it is very unconventional. The first few pages of the manual helped me a lot to understand the concept behind sequences, tracks and programs. I can highly recommend to read these few pages, it helped me a lot to get going (I did not read the entire manual so far). I could actually follow this video, although a lot of steps are left out towards the end - after the piano, the other instruments are added in the same way, so this is left out i guess to avoid being repetitive. My only problem with this software so far is the undo function. I must learn not to touch it. It undoes like 20 or 30 steps and afterwards the redo button is greyed out. 10 Minutes of work are just lost. I need to figure this out, I don't know if it is a bug or just does not work as expected (as so many other things in this software).

@@MakaveliNThis this is brillint - NOT . it's impossible for me to get the pads or anything tied to it running (Did you get it running? it's explained NOWHERE) .. in the video it just works out of the box... if you do it yourself... nope... pads / keys nothing will do anything.

I can't even get to square one with this software. I can't figure out how to load the additional Air instruments that were included with my MPK Mini 3, when I start a project I have no field to control loop length, none of the control knobs do anything at all. It's beyond frustrating.
If I got this two years ago before getting a semi grip on my ADHD I never woulda God this thing setup lol for being the industry standard they really drop the ball on ease of entry especially considering most people getting this are beginners.. obviously it's been 10 months so I hope you got it all setup and love yours! I'm on day 2 got most of it setup and love it now. I just still can't get some of the knobs to register right but for now I'm having fun and making progress lol

I watched many of the tutorial videos at work today and felt inspired to come home and watch them again and follow along, but very little of what is presented in the video worked. How, for example, did he get to adding the piano instrument? I have managed to create some music on mpc beats, but these videos aren't that helpful especially when things don't work exactly as presenter is showing.
It's taken me about 3 hours to get through 7 minutes of their start up video. Every time I try to follow a step in the video something doesn't work and I have to spend forever trying to figure out how to fix it... Hence why I'm here haha. Anyway, glad I'm not the only one!

At 3:15 "lets go to track 2 and add a piano" then the video is edited everything changes. I've downloaded the LoFi program but there is no option to select a piano program (Inst-piano-oFi-upright). If anyone knows how to he added the piano part I would be grateful if you could share it. There is obviously a few things to do or it wouldn't have been edited out of the video.

You can clean skipping encoders or replace them easily.

how so you touch the pad with all the same velocity and same beat? I can't even touch with 2 beats with same velocity.

Go to Edit > then preferences > Then midi to find your controller

Press 'B' to reveal the media browser and all installed expansions will appear.

You select the sound you want to assign, then click the 3rd tab above them ('16 levels'), then switch the type to 'tune'

The expansion packs included with MPC Beats will be installed again. If you have purchased expansion packs, be sure to archive the installers for future use.
Any update on the mpc software would be appreciated. Can the looper be increased from 16 bars to 64?

Sooo, I'm completely new to all of this but what he isn't showing is A. What template he used and, more importantly, B. How/if he had to load the files for the Lo-fi Drum kit at the 48 second mark.
On my screen the file browser is open on the right side, and I think by default it was open to c:\ProgramData\Akai\MPC\content. If yours is not open look for the harddrive button on the bottom right hand side (just left of the help button), or try pressing your f key. Once you have found the content folder drag the browser left to see the full folder names and select the one ending 'trapsouldandlofibeats'. That is where you will find the LoFi Kit LS with U Kit C drum kit. Double click it and then go to the program menu on the left side and it should be there just like in the video.
Sorry if this isn't written very clearly. It would have been a lot simpler to show it in the video.
You are a legend. One thing to add, you have to have downloaded the 'Trap Soul & LoFi Beats' expansion from the InMusic Software centre, and it's the .xpm file you want

Well reading the comments, it looks like we're all in the same boat and can't use the software very effectively. It's kinda tough to use. I with they provided much more detailed tutorials. I really enjoy these videos, but they're not specific and pretty much no one can follow along without solving many problems on their own. Akai, you'll get sooo many more users if you can simply provide some detailed tutorials, specifically regarding solving many common technical issues and explaining the overall intended workflow design of the softeare. Thanks for what you have provided though! Mpc beats hasn't gotten me far, but it has opened the door at least.
So true, the software seems so powerful yet it is very unconventional. The first few pages of the manual helped me a lot to understand the concept behind sequences, tracks and programs. I can highly recommend to read these few pages, it helped me a lot to get going (I did not read the entire manual so far). I could actually follow this video, although a lot of steps are left out towards the end - after the piano, the other instruments are added in the same way, so this is left out i guess to avoid being repetitive. My only problem with this software so far is the undo function. I must learn not to touch it. It undoes like 20 or 30 steps and afterwards the redo button is greyed out. 10 Minutes of work are just lost. I need to figure this out, I don't know if it is a bug or just does not work as expected (as so many other things in this software).
Didn't even show us how you got to the template you're on. I have none of those options starting from an EMPTY PROJECT

I can't even get to square one with this software. I can't figure out how to load the additional Air instruments that were included with my MPK Mini 3, when I start a project I have no field to control loop length, none of the control knobs do anything at all. It's beyond frustrating.

If I got this two years ago before getting a semi grip on my ADHD I never woulda God this thing setup lol for being the industry standard they really drop the ball on ease of entry especially considering most people getting this are beginners.. obviously it's been 10 months so I hope you got it all setup and love yours! I'm on day 2 got most of it setup and love it now. I just still can't get some of the knobs to register right but for now I'm having fun and making progress lol

I found it! For the knobs, activate MIDI learn (Ctrl+Shift+L or down right), then click ENABLE (top right)

I watched many of the tutorial videos at work today and felt inspired to come home and watch them again and follow along, but very little of what is presented in the video worked. How, for example, did he get to adding the piano instrument? I have managed to create some music on mpc beats, but these videos aren't that helpful especially when things don't work exactly as presenter is showing.
Got to download the sound packs.
at 48 seconds when you have the drum kit you lose most of us. we don't have the drum kit

It's taken me about 3 hours to get through 7 minutes of their start up video. Every time I try to follow a step in the video something doesn't work and I have to spend forever trying to figure out how to fix it... Hence why I'm here haha. Anyway, glad I'm not the only one!

At 3:15 "lets go to track 2 and add a piano" then the video is edited everything changes. I've downloaded the LoFi program but there is no option to select a piano program (Inst-piano-oFi-upright).
If anyone knows how to he added the piano part I would be grateful if you could share it. There is obviously a few things to do or it wouldn't have been edited out of the video.
