I think I liked the parts of the video showing the countryside near Berne the best. Interesting contrast between these massive modern machines and the little white barns and nearby homesteads like I grew up on.
I grew up in Ohio not too far from there . Filled bunk silo with small Alis Chalmers dozer. The man chopping used a two row chopper run by a Farmall M . he would be amazed to see this!!
In this video the corn is not harvested! The whole plant is harvested to produce silage from it. This is a concentrated feed for animals, mostly for dairy cows. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silage
I know each field is different but I think those folks have done that before! Not a lost or wasted move and not stopping to wait on the next truck. Good video.
Sorry...don't understand...Is this chopping corn stalks AFTER the CORN has been removed...or something else? No...obviously not raised on a farm. Just watched ANOTHER video on same subject. SO...the ENTIRE STALK including any CORN (cob) that's growing on it is chopped up. OK....got it?
Cory I only put the music in on the drone scenes. When the drone is flying you can not here the machinery anyway and trust me you would rather hear the tunes over the drone noise.
Allen. I don't have any personal experience with it. all I know is that they chop the entire plant and store it just as you saw in the video. One it is put in the pile they cover with a heavy duty tarp and just scoop it out as is and feed it to cattle in a feedlot. The crop is grown strictly for feed and has more nutrition than than bagged feed corn that is dried.
Since you feed that many cattle, would'nt it be wise to get like 5 or 6 large Harvestore Silos , i think they would pay for themselves in the end , yr obviously using a lot of fuel spreading it out, also the man hours etc.....

I had forgotten how dry and dusty those gravel roads in Allen and Adams county Indiana can be. I drove for an Amish crew from Berne many years ago.
Great video. The best parts of the vid is when you don't have that idiotic background racket playing. It was great to hear the machines working.
I love how the amish cart has a warning triangle on it hahaha. just like a tractor
A fair bit of reminiscing for me used to love chopping maize here in New Zealand great video!

Absolutely great video guys
Thanks for sharing this nice video.
Ohio is one of the places i will travel to and nice machines. It pays well to have big machines when it is big fields and it isn't cheap either
Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. Great land. Great state.
The color of that river is interesting. Topsoil and/or algae bloom from nitrogen run-off?
The banjo is a nice touch
Are the tractor trailers owned by the farm or are they owner operators working as contract haulers ?
Both.
It sometimes is owned by both but usually it is the contractors who owns the haulers
@@farmhandmike please tell me what kind of track 49:37 - 50:50
What gear does the truck run in to keep pace with the machine?
Chopping Corn Silage in Berne Indiana at Next Generation's Dairy
You can hear the sound of grass being crushed from the weight of the loaded truck.
At 47:08.
I tried to find this area on Google Earth. Google Earth actually captured them on camera about 1 mile north of Fryback Lake in 2019.
Is that a corn crop they are cutting ? I’ve never seen corn harvested like this?
It is not the grain that is harvested, but the green plant. This is then used to produce concentrated feed (silage) for animals.

Where is this farm?
cuts beautifully
more sound of the machinery instead of the same tunes over and over again would be better! great vids though watch about all of them
