    Most interesting fact not taught in school: in the 1990’s, soft tissue and blood cells were discovered in T-Rex bones in Montana. The discovery calls into question the idea that dinosaurs went extinct 63 million years ago.

    Captain Buzzkill here! I never understood the shark statistic. Yeah, they're not as vicious as people imagine. But the primary reason you're far less likely to be bitten by one than humans is because you're far more likely to encounter humans than you are sharks. No one spends most of their time underwater.

    Is that really a word, though? It's just a compounding of every chemical in it in order mashed together. By that definition I could make the new longest word in the world by just listing off all the proteins in order of a double helix off a fern, which has hundreds of thousands of proteins and each protein is 7ish letters long.
    Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is usually the record holder, being a Latin phrase for silica in the lungs.

    And slavery is still legal in the US. That's right! They don't teach that in school, but it is written in the 13th Amendment of the Constitution. To wit: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, //except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted// (emphasis mine), shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction". Which adds an interesting spin to the little fact that, while the demographics of race in the US is approximately 13% Black, the demographics of the Federal Prison System is 34% Black.

    Good for Bill Gates to allow everyone access to DaVinci's book. And the chemical name for Titin is just unnecessarilu excessive IMO. Just why?

    • @kensmith5694
      @kensmith5694 10 годин тому

      In organic chemistry, there are rules for making the names of chemicals. It is a system that works well for smallish molecules. It allows everyone to know what is being talked about. For complicated big stuff it doesn't serve the purpose.
