man I've had a 5 pin mic I lost the cable for I have wanted to get to work again for about 6 years now, so glad I ran across your vid, I can't wait to try this! and so glad I never threw it out for lack of a better idea, Sweet!!
Hi i want to wire a 5 pin xlr cable to a 3 pin xlr socket. Should I only wire the 3 pins the same as your video and then just put electrical tape on the 4th and 5th wires? Thanks.
I have a similar project, but a little difference from yours. I want to use a dual shielded twisted pair cable to mount on a 5 pins XLR connector. And the other side is to separate them with two units of 3 pins XLR connectors for two condense microphones. But I couldn't find a good cable. What I want to have is the two twisted wires with shielded and two bundles shielded wires are enclosed inside a plastic tube. Simply speaking, one cable with two individual shielded twisted pairs. If anyone finds it, please let me know. It will be great if this cannot be found on ebay. Thanks
Hi, would you happen you know what happens if you connect both the hot and cold pins from both the left and right channels from the 5 pin end, to the pins on a single 3 pin connector? Would that supply the mic with like two times phantom power and blow it up? I want to find out how to make a cable like this: pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/product-EC05X3F5M/ where it connects one 3 pin XLR mic to both the left and right channels of the 5 pin input and supply the mic with phantom power. And not blow it up of course! Thanks in advance for your answer!

This is more for lighting. SOme lights use 3pin XLR/DMX and some lights use 5pin Middi/DMX
Awesome video! Horrible music...
