The deeply saddening desecration of Tenby's magical and beautiful South Beach, with the commencement of construction of the incongruous, urban-style Water's Edge development. Planning permission for this "monstrosity", as people are calling it, was granted by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.
Appllication for this development was made by Powell Dobson (the architects) on behalf of Opco Construction Limited - of Cardiff. Opco are the developers, but are hiding behind the front companies: "Mandaco 538 Limited", and "Wanchai Developments".
The most tragic thing to happen to Tenby.
I stumbled upon this development in july 2014 wow its going to be fantastic when its finished ,and a real asset for tenby. . Well done planners for being brave enough to allow this futuristic development to go ahead .I just wish I could afford one of the apartments . oh there`s also .a lovely new car park ideal for disabled people needing access to the wonderful beach , and a lovely walk down from the esplanade. what`s not to like
@LloydyHill yeah it does look good.i have been coming to tenby for many years now since i was very small but i think u shud remember that tenby relies on us ppl to keep ur wages benifits shopping centres built!!with out us 50,000 turning up every year ud struggle to get an oxfam built mate.so remember what ur sayin if u like ur town the way it is.
I am just about to go there for a week.This has made me feel sick to my guts.Is this going to set the precedent for future exploitation of this wonderful town??

A high impact development in a sensitive and supposedly protected area. Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, as the planning authority, you have failed in your duties.
@trialsbiker42. Site was in dire need of redevelopment but these structures are unsympathetic and over imposing. A little more thought and consultation at the planning stage is what appears to be missing here.
This is the view that looks out over Caldey Island? Really sad to see this desecration of a beautiful place. Not only is it an ugly building but it's also a completely stupid idea to build a house that close to the sea. I wouldn't live there if you paid me.
Showing a film of 'work in progress' achieves nothing. ALL building sites are ugly and are an eyesore. The proposed building is NOT Tenby and would look more suited to the dockside developments in Cardiff. The National Park Authority has failed.
What an absolute travesty.. Who gave them the right to scar our beautiful coast with ugly flats? (an might i say dated looking before they are built) !!!

"Like" is the wrong term, I like the video but hate its content.
@crockett207 it will look good when it is completed, how can you say it needs more "consultation at the planning stage" where you clearly don't know anything about the development process? get a grip, you are making your judgement on a terribly biased video of an idiot local who has nothing better to do with their time than hassle professionals while they are doing their job.
phatfarmers Actually, I have considerable knowledge and experience of Planning and development processes. Your remark here, is nothing short of immature.
Gordon Bennet. This film is so rubbish. It's really boring like with yellow diggers and whale noises everything. No I won't be hiring this video out and that's for sure. I don't even recognise any of those actors. This is really beat budget stuff. The dialog is surely foreign too.
