Hello, we brought bear mace and kept our food and garbage in a tree away from the campsite. Never saw any bear but admittedly it was nerve wracking closer to fall seeing the scat and other signs. I carry a six-foot sharpened spear but haven’t had to use it, thankfully 😅
@@hankzane I've actually never really been anywhere in Wisconsin except for someone's property in Black River Falls. My current want is to find some good places here for some proper camping tho
Crandon is the County seat of Forest County and has incredible National Forest in the area. I would suggest exploring the area around Robert’s Lake Rd. Forest road 2144. Himley Lake, rustic camping. Ludington Lake, less rustic. Richardson Lake, campground. As for tent camping and backpacking, it can be done pretty much anywhere in the government lands.
Hello, yes this location is dispersed/ primitive camping and there is no fee! The wilderness areas in the National Forest are all open for this type of hiking and lodging, we found them by just going on Google maps
If you're planning a trip to this area and have questions, or if you've been to this area and have tips, post them below
Interesting to see the wildfire smoke from two years ago. 2022 was better but this year has been insane
Will be headed up there in a couple short weeks. Can’t wait.
Have a great trip! Hope you enjoy
Beautiful! Felt like I was there with you? 🙂
Meant "with you!" lol
You were with us in spirit ma ☺️
What bear precautions did you take? I couldn't sleep in a hammock! I'm nervous sleeping in my truck bed!

Woah, you were way up there in the state. I’d like to check out the part of Chequamegon that’s by Crandon. Ever been to that part?
Not yet! Planning a trip for this weekend tho. Have you been there? do you recommend

While you went camping did you ever hear people target shooting with firearms?
