Thanks a lot Nicolette. My mom and I bought the shares in 2010 for R10 000, they matured last year and we were given a portion of the shares' value in cash. The calculation you use is very confusing because R100 = R77000 but our R10 000 didn't even reach R500 000. We have reinvested in Zenzele Kabili and are excited by the listing but we are still confused because if we remember correctly our Zenzele shares should have been converted into ordinary SAB/InBev shares at maturity last year then you would decide whether to sell them or not.
@Siyabonga Kunene, I think Nicolite is sharing insightful information, the problem is she does not reference where she got her information thus making an impression that what is she saying is factual, yes the media has been saying that if you invested 100 in 2010 you would have gained 77000, which is like 770 X, i also read a similar article or paper it didn't mention how you would have gained so much money, what i know about these kinda investments is they are normally locked in for minimum of 5 years, some 10 years , so whether the statement is factual or not we cannot know since we do not know how they came to the calculation , for example do they include re-investment of dividend's or not , is dividend tax excluded or included , is capital gain tax included or excluded, does it include fees , normally these investment comes with high fees also, so I think you have better reflection of what is factual since you can calculate the real ROI from these investment, and maybe you can calculate share the real ROI with the rest of the people so we know what to expect , all I know is if you invested in AB in Bev in 2016 today you will be licking your loss
@@s0llytsotetsi463 thank you for this insightful information. I went through the original prospectus again and something caught my eye. There's a notional investment that SABMiller would contribute to the investment you made as an SAB Zenzele shareholder. It is said that at maturity, this portion would be paid back to SABMiller (now InBev). I believe tax comes into play as well as you also stated. I have my reservations about the articles citing a 770x gain. That means we should have got R7,7mln. Even after tax and other fees we should have at least had R3mln. But the scheme is very good, as of today SZK is sitting at R180 per share having been initially listed at R40 per share on the 28th
