- BONES, a darkly amusing procedural, centers on Dr. TEMPERANCE BRENNAN (Emily Deschanel), a highly skilled forensic anthropologist who works at the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington, D.C. and writes novels on the side, and her partnership with FBI Special Agent SEELEY BOOTH (David Boreanaz) of the FBI’s Homicide Investigations Unit. When the standard methods of identifying a body are useless, law enforcement calls on Brennan for her uncanny ability to read clues left behind in the victim’s bones. The combination of Booth’s people-smarts and Brennan’s scientific acumen makes them a formidable duo, both professionally and personally.

Sweets living with Brennan and Booth was the best moment for me. He shouldn't have been killed. John Francis Daley had just asked for 4 months of leave to direct a movie, but he was denied and instead they decided to kill him off. The show never recovered after it and the ratings started to drop. They had invested so much on Sweets background (his childhood abuse, his love life, etc.) that they could have left him alive and given him that 4 months break. So sad.
Ok I didn't know that and that totally sucks!! I cried like a baby when he died!
I guess part of his finishing the role in BoNES had been Daley´s other projects like SPIDERMAN scripts writing and other interests. But yes he had been great in the role
i'm with you n aware it huts him too , that sweets died just so the vacation movie could exist
I'm currently rewatching Bones through Disney+ and started with Sweets on the first episode.
He is such a good and supremely written character that carried the show and brought Booth together with Bones
The moment that trio broke up, the show died for me.
Aubrey is also a good character, but he never comes close to Sweets.
Sure, Daley wanted to focus on Spider-Man, but he could have at least been kept alive, focusing on his son and occasionally stepping in as an advisor and friend to Booth.
Knowing that this character was no more after all that was built around him broke the show too much for me.

Sweets was the glue that tied everything together. After his introduction, Booth had to rarely visit the lab as Sweets was the link between the lab and the FBI and he was the one who held the relationship of Bones and Booth together by his psychobabble. Also, show-makers had invested in his character so much (his childhood abuse, his love life, etc.) that they had every reason to keep him alive. After his death, the show never recovered.

His and Vincent's death killed me. Whenever I rewatch Vincent Nigel-Murray episode, I skip his last episode because, even though I already know what's going to happen, I can never prepare myself for his death. Also, I really like how both of these characters liked "Da Lime In Da Coconut" and how their friends sang this song at their funeral/wake (I don't know what to call it).
They killed off a few of the interns....which was sad but the most traumatic was when they killed off Dr. Sweets. He was so goooood and I certainly felt the pain that both Booth and Bones felt as he died in front of them and there was nothing they could do.
So I got my friend hooked on this show. She was not happy when vincent nigel Murray died but she was devastated by sweet's death. She cried after he died, and then stopped watching the show and never finished it
His death was a powerful moment it sucks but it had to be done to show just how dangerous that conspiracy was sweets was avenged
What made his death worse was that he looked at Booth asking for him to be proud of him.

I know they’re legally obligated to arrest the guy who did that but in my opinion he deserved a fucking medal

His death in the drama, just killed me. I absolutely LOVED him but sad that he died in the drama.
I cried when they finished him off, I cried in two episodes straight. Needed a short break before I could watch the second part of the conspiracy-solving...

I love his character! I loved him from his first episode and was devastated on his last. Incredible actor and addition to the team.
I just finished watching Freaks and Geeks where Johns like 14, so seeing him as an adult is so funny after being used to little him.
it was sad as sweets had become a integral character in series but in researching it he was writing and producing shows and wanted off. Not like Zack's character whose actor didn't but they dumped him off show and he was very interesting. sometimes actors want to do other things so they have to write them out. Wish they had done much more with Max's character as he was very interesting but how he was so heroic and had become such an integral part of her life was good.
It broke my heart in ways I can't explain .

How many years has sweets been in a show then doublet.
After he died I remember how much I hated Aubrey and that other therapist lady but after a break I rewatched the last couple seasons and Aubrey isn't that bad I actually relate to him a lot that therapist lady still gets on my nerves tho.
Aubrey is a Good Character, the death of sweets was hurts, but Aubrey is funny too. I think, haha.
He is one of my most favorite in the show and it feel so different after he left.
I actually stop watching for few years after they kill Vincent and when I decide to watch again I heard they kill Sweets so I put on a hold watching the show for long time.
I just start rewatching the show start from season 1 again.
Vincent's death still make me angry and even I know what gonna happen I still can't accept Sweet's death the most.
I wish they keep him alive.
Be in a comma or sabbatical somewhere but still alive and the actor can make few special guest appearances when needed or at least for final season instead of being killed 😭
I always have problem with how the writers getting rid of characters or actor no matter through death or something else like they did with the actor in 1st season that disappeared and get replaced by Cam without any mention later, Zack, Vincent, Sweet, Jared(they didn't even bother to inform the actor that his character dead at least invite him to show his face once) and Max. But well at least Max stay in the show as long as he could.
I wish someday all the casts of this show can do a reunion for anniversary such as 20th anniversary and reminiscent their time in this shows

In a way John Francis Daley - Sweets did his role here as young genius somewhat like David Krumholtz - Charly in NUB3RS; the same mix of juvenile energy and a bit of missing life experiecnce of a more matured person.
Just as an observation, I love both shows

*Spoiler..............So dumb that they killed him....should have just had him move somewhere. The writers kinda started losing their thunder after about the 6 or 7th season.
ShadowBandit39 I know right. I didn't watch bones for 2 years or so because I didn't want to see him die. I got even angrier about that as the actor asked for a 4 month break. They could have put him into a coma and then wake up or be off screen as he takes care of his son
He asked for 7 months off to go direct another movie/show.

They took my three favorite characters off the show; two by death, one in a psych ward. It made it harder to watch, unfortunately. I used to love this show.

I personally think they could’ve brought sully back once again just to kill him, I mean the characters cared about him but the audience didn’t (for me he’s just a fun extra)

I’m 64 years young.
Today I watched Sweets die leaving behind his pregnant wife. I realize he wanted to pursue other ventures other than paying on the TV show bones. But I wished you had somebody fall in love with his wife and marry her and to help take care of her child. I don’t know if the TV show bones is still going on word or maybe you all ended it for good I don’t know. But I do know that it really touched me to see him horribly ugly and dead. I have worked in a trauma hospital for a few good years. And I have seen and cleaned up and mopped up BLOOD 🩸. Lots of BLOOD 🩸 From one person the smell is the smell of death ☠️.
Watching sweets die really made me cry too. I love ❤️ the tv show BONES 🦴. Weather it is based off of a real person’s life or just made up. You people have helped to educate people who don’t really know what’s going on in this world 🌎.
