I had the same plan but I’ll use fibre cement sheet instead of aluminium and put some perlite cement between the wood and fibre cement for insulation. I see some people just use a steel door with no insulation. Doesn’t make sense after spending all the money on an insulated oven and then have a large uninsulated hole in the front.
Reminds me of woodwork at school back in the 70s the teacher would make all these straight and accurate cuts...then we'd try 😂
Have you had any issue with the wood burning due to heat transfer from pizza oven?
Simples, pratico e muito bonito. Parabéns e muito obrigado pela ideia. Marcos (Brasil)
So in addition to your pizza oven, now I have to be envious of your cool toys too?
School teachers aren't that well paid, but sometimes you can use school equipment

great video. was it plywood you used? and what thickness was the aluminium sheet please?
White oak
3 or 4mm aluminium
If only we had those tools at home
Great looking door but will the wood not char when the steal heats up? Love to see the long term effect. Thank you for sharing
Yep mine has charred a little but nothing major.
@Robert Beck sounds flawed!
Look up burnt timber, it preserves the wood. I'd actually preburn .
Well, I guess keep the cardboard mold so when the door burns, build a new one
Did you find that the aluminium stopped the oak burning?
It has blackened a bit but not major burning.
does the dome holds 500 C ?
Not sure as I’ve never used a thermometer
