That position close to the batter is common in Test cricket. Its to try and catch balls that hit the edge of the bat and fall near the batter, usually when facing spin bowling.

Terms in cricket.
Bat - batsman holding the bat
Ball - Bowler bowling the hard ball. Its so hard you can brain damage so batsmen some time wear a helmet and protective gear including groin protection.
Stumps - the 3 poles and 2 bails (the thing behind the batsman)
Wicket Keeper - man right behind the stumps in catching position
Pads and helmet - pads worn on legs and gloves on hand to protect legs and shin and finger and helmet for the head.
Bowling speed - 3 styles 1st spin which slow ball 80 kms per hr with fast finger movement to make ball turn sharply 2nd medium pace 100 kms per hr slightly faster ball with mix of spin and speed arm finger movement to get movement 3rd fast bowling speeds of 120 to 150 kms per hr thats roughly 90-100miles per hr.
Fielding - fielders stopping runs or catching the ball.
Boundary ropes - the outer circle the boundary of the game within which you play.
Scoring - 2 batsman run between the stumps to score 1,2,3 runs hitting ball on the ground to clear the boundary to score direct 4 runs or hit powerfully in air to clear boundary with no touching the ground thats a direct 6 runs.
Out (or a wicket) - bowler always aims to the stumps to get direct hit thats a out or he bowls outside in such a way that the fielder he has placed as per his bowling technique or the batsmans style he usually plays to get him caught by the fielder and therefore out.
LBW - batman can get out if he tries to stop the ball from hitting the stumps with his leg pads instead of protecting with his bat.
Wide ball - ball dropping outside the range of the batter when bowler is afraid batsman is scoring too much runs but you get a penalty of 1 run and if the ball is not caught by the wicket keeper and it reaches boundary after leaving bowlers hands its 4 wide runs.
Crease lines - lines on ground which limits bowlers and a lines you have to cross when running to score runs and he needs to bowl again.
No ball - when crosses the crease line when he throws the ball he gets 1 run penalty and he needs to bowl again.
Over - 1 over is 6 balls thrown by a bowler cleanly
Innings - 1 innings can be 20 overs for a T20 match 50 overs for a 1 day match and 50 over x 5 days for a test match.
11 players in each team each player has to bat 2 at a time or filed bowl catch 11 at a time 1 bowler and 1 wicket keeper included.
Usually each team has 5 specialist bowlers and 6 specialist batsman but they can do both then you are called an all rounder.
Americans are known to have brawn while asians, british and aussies and new zealand south africans are known for their brains plus brawn.
Well said mate! As much as us cricketing nations all hate each other we are one big family. It maybe the second biggest sport in the world after Soccer but it's only the Commonwealth & former Commonwealth nations,( that are still known as Commonwealth nation even after becoming republics like the Saffa's & India for eg that still compete at the Commonwealth Games)that play the sport. The Commonwealth is a Family in itself, something we are apart of that the majority of the world aren't & cricket is the game that unifies us. I'm an Aussie, i love the Windie's & Pakistan but hate the Poms & India & know the cricketing world hates us Aussie's but as much as we all argue, debate, fight & hate each other we are one big family & i really think that's what set's cricket apart from every other sport. There's no other sport like cricket with the same closeness, hatred & love at the same time

Because the T20 Cricket World cup is happening in 2024 and the USA is one of the hosts along with Caribbean Island (West Indies Cricket). So you would be able to support the US cricket team in international cricket as early as June 2024!
@6:59 ... Sometimes the bowling team plays with aggressive plan. Standing so close to the wicket creates more chances of catch out especially when the bowling team has already created pressure by taking early wickets. Also the bowler has to bowl at a certain length and line according to the fielders placed in the field.

When it comes to running between the wickets it's normally the batsman on strikes call to run but the non striker often & can over rule the batsman on strike as they are the ones actually watching where the ball is coz the batsman on strike is still in stance mode after hitting the ball so the non striker has the best view if there's a run available or not. In cricket there's a saying when it comes to run outs & that's, "Yes, No, Sorry"! The sorry is when they've run their partner out & u wanna keep out in the middle batting as long as u can so u don't wanna come face to face with the batsman you've run out in the sheds 😂.
Also our cricket umpire are all neutral, so if it's Australia v England we don't get Aussie or Pommy umpires. Also our umpire are pretty much spot on, they have the third umpire or DRS to go to for a decision but our umpires also have a lot of humour & get along with all players from every nation. The crowd also love the umps & there's a few umps that actually steal the show & even in serious international matches will have fun to entertain the crowd, umpire Billy Bowden from New Zealand was a brilliant character on field & fans over the world loved his umpiring & the things he'd do to liven the game up

Oh yeah absolutely! We actually talked about that in a stream recently 😂 the constant hitting in rugby may be worse overall but I don’t think anyone would prefer getting smacked by a rock being thrown at 90+mph than being tackled
