Oh, really? I had a feeling it might be possible, but not implimented. More of why it kinda sucks that Nicalis talks about how it's a new ending for their version of the game, haha.
@@Nerdieo yeah it was never really considered a different 'ending' by the community, just a clever easter egg leading to slightly different dialogue leading to the last boss fights (the credit art was the same as the normal end). Only after the ports happened did people start talking about it as a different ending .
Cave Story+ on Switch definitely has some neat things that come with it that somewhat justifies its existence, whether it's the music selection in the Options menu, the return of the Jukebox feature from the WiiWare version, a graphical toggle between Cave Story Classic or Cave Story+, a CD of the Famitracker soundtrack and a full-color manual made as a reference to the NES era!
I originally played on the 3ds eShop original port as a kid and I played that to death it’s so good. I love how after beating the game, I got to play it all again with after learning about all the secret weapons and the best ending on the internet. I’ve started speedrunning it now would highly recommend
This game has such a special place in my heart. My dad and I used to take turns playing it when I was a kid. I’d play most of the main missions and he’d do the boss fights because they were too hard for me
For my money, the Switch version is the best way to play the game. Setting the graphics and music to original basically gives you a perfect version of the freeware version with 60fps and widescreen. Plus all the quality of life changes are also present, the biggest one being the cutscene skip option. I've seen all those conversations a million times, so being able to skip them vastly improves the pacing on repeat playthroughs. That single QOL feature is enough for me, but combine that with all the soundtrack options, plus the enhanced graphics option with changes made just for the Switch version like dynamic water and lighting, I really don't see why you'd want to play any other version instead. The only thing the OG freeware version has (besides being free) is the popular fan translation, but even that can only matter so much when doing a second playthrough since you already know how the story goes. I just wish they'd port these changes over to the PC version, but with Switch emulation being a thing, I can only be so mad.
KEEP IT! It's definitely a neat piece of Cave Story history, just not good in comparison to the others, IMO. If you enjoy it, dont let me ruin your fun!
@@Nerdieo I do admit its definitely inferor to any other version, however I can appreciate what they tried to do with the graphics, giving it an overhaul to a semi realistic look I do prefer the 3DS ost over any other version, as controversial as the sound is for that port
Just last week I downloaded the 3ds port off of hshop and played the game for the first time. Haven't finished the good ending yet but it's a great game! Might pick up the switch version at some point if I ever feel like replaying it so I can see exactly what was added/changed

3:56 actually there *are* quite a lot of notable differences between the pc and switch version, one being that the pc runs at 4:3 while the switch at widescreen, and the new water particles on switch which in my honest opinion looks horrendous and waaaay off, the "lightning" system which is just a semi-transparent white sprite, and of course the coop mode. But overall yes it pretty much adds quality of life improvements.

You're not wrong, but technically wrong. The game's physics are technically the same, however due to the game being at 60 FPS rather than the original 50, the gameplay is sped up about 20%. While the physics are the same on a technical level, it probably will feel a bit different. Again, they aren't different, but only technically.

Curly looks off because of her right eyelash. Took me about 10 seconds, but I think that’s it. I know it’s common in anime for brows and lashes to show through hair, but at that low of resolution, I think they (he) should have stuck closer to the original look and just let the hair cover the eye a bit. Took me longer to notice, but I’m also not super satisfied with the mouth. Might be the biggest change to how you feel when you see her. I mean it’s OK… but maybe a more neutral expression would be better given the heavy moods at certain points… (like remove the bottom two black squares, and perhaps use a lighter color… if you must include a mouth).
The 3D feature is very fun, haha. It is pretty neat to see rivers in Mimiga Village flow from the background to foreground and small stuff like that...but it doesn't redeem CS3D for me, haha. It is pretty neat, though!

This year it got ported to PS1
It's been ported to a lot of things, but these are only the official ports!
@@Nerdieo I thought it was official, some indie devs release their games officially in discontinued platforms like Retro City Rampage and Shakedown Hawai being both ported officially to the Wii in 2020, and along the Wii port they also ported Retro City to MS DOS of all places, also the Shantae devs releasing a new Shantae game to current platforms such as Switch, PS5 and PC, but to the GBA along them, or how about a not so indie game being McDonalds making an official game for the Gameboy Color for the Grimmace Birthday trend, there's many examples of that
@CrocoDylianVT I appreciate the devs for doing this, especially all their other works, including the Cave Story port of they managed it, but I simply describe "Official" via community definition. "Official" ports are any ports managed by Pixel himself or Nicalis, who "officially" own Cave Story. Sorry for any confusion!!
REALLY wish i spent my money on the switch version of CS+. i know it doesnt seem like it but theres a LOT of differences between the PC and switch ports. first off, you cant hold multiple puppies at once, or jellyfish juices. You can't play in widescreen (this is a feature i DESPERATELY WANT). There's no cool lighting. There's no jukebox. There's no Sand pit. Half the shit that's in CS+ for the switch inexplicably isn't in the Steam version.
I realized the differences after making the video, sadly, haha. All the new improvements really just felt so natural when playing the game, it's kinda crazy! I would highly recommend playing it any way possible, it's great.
Roblox does not count ☠️
Thank you lol
All possible because of NXEngine :)
SPOILER AT 1:59 WATCH OUT
