A little bit of 11-limit Blues

- Here I'm playing around with some blues stuff, using my Wicki-Hayden layout for 31 divisions of the octave on the Lumatone, but I've justly tuned all the notes that I'm using. There's a blues melody already hiding in the harmonic series at the 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th harmonics, and just flatward of the 11th harmonic on the spiral of fifths, you find a justly tuned 11/6 neutral seventh, and then below that, the 11/9 neutral third. So the purple notes (double flats along with the darker orange) are fifths of the 11th harmonic, the sevenths I'm playing out in the light blue area (sharps) are the 7th harmonic, and the major scale is also tuned justly with pure I, IV, and V major chords.

Very cool resonant vibe on the beehive!
loving the use of pedal here
great use of the harmonic series
I adore this setup.
So nice I love Just Intonation it's so beautiful I hope I can afford this keyboard someday!
While I just hope for a cheaper alternative. Must be possible to get something similar one day far below the 4k that this one is being sold for.
i will take me years to save up for it 😑
@@makcings4764 Same 😔
@@timoheinrich8763 If you want an isomorphic layout, consider the Linnstrument. Still pricy, but nowhere near as pricy.
I wish I could watch the film this is supposed to be in.
Cool piece!
Stellar
Pentoniq bluebs. Wow that piano tone really works. I need me some of that hexynth
The software synth I'm using is called Pianoteq (its NY Steinway D model with a custom tuning that started out as 31 equal divisions of the octave and then I slightly adjusted the tuning of each note that I wanted to use according to what I was using it for). The midi controller is a Lumatone.
dig it
I recognized the lumatone from Instagram.
Microtonality, or out of tune?
Microtonality. I started with 31 equal divisions of the octave and then justly tuned the intervals as I was using them according to what purpose those notes served. The reason it may seem out of tune is that this includes the 11th harmonic and the fifths below it, which are my 11/6 neutral seventh and 11/9 neutral third (some of the purple keys to the left), which despite having some degree of consonance to them, have a solid measure of bluesy dissonance as well, like wailing bent-string versions of their minor counterparts.
This sounds horrible? My ears are not sofisticated enough for this. I'll stick to normal tones 😅
Yeah same
yea lol
I get it, there's a special type of music taste that you have to gain in order to enjoy microtonal music because it's very different from the twelve tone system that modern music has developed.
I honestly think the issue is the timbre of the piano chosen. Idk about the tuning, but the timbre is so agressive
