COVID-19: Hancock refuses to rule out second lockdown

- Health Secretary Matt Hancock has not ruled out a second national lockdown as the number of COVID-19 cases rises, telling Sky News: "We'll do what is necessary to keep people safe."
It has been reported that scientists advising the government have proposed a two-week national lockdown in October to try to tackle the rising number of coronavirus cases.
Mr Hancock would not be drawn on the timescale of any possible full lockdown and insisted it was the "last line of defence" against the disease.
The government has confirmed that the prime minister, Boris Johnson, met with England's chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty and Sir Patrick Vallance, the chief scientific adviser, on Wednesday night where they discussed the latest COVID-19 data.

Piss easy question to answer. Actually there is a fourth answer, which is I don’t know. Matt Hancock response is giving numbers of test that are being carried out. Complete and utter avoidance of the question. So yes politicians are skilled at never answering questions.

Yeah, it's not the death rate so much as the speed of transmission. And some "survivors" are in bad shape for the rest of their lives. Generally, the lockdown wouldn't be necessary if people would wear their masks and not group up and those people are the ones causing the lockdowns. Here in the US, people just won't cooperate. And then those same people complain about the lockdowns. This could have been stopped 6 months ago but we had holidays and so people went nuts and things go worse here. Our president is also a complete idiot and encourages people to congregate w/o masks. Stupid country when people act like idiots.

As a key worker, I got sick, got better, worked on through the pandemic whilst a great many people seemed to have one long party on the government. We need to protect the very vulnerable, everybody else, get back to work. And I was told by a NHS worker months ago that the hospitals are empty.

Job losses will happen, those in roles which the economy can continue without were in effect "on benefits", being employed because of prosperity without an actual need for them to have jobs. Now reality will set in. Those in jobs which can now be done by delivery drivers will lose them. Those we were being propped up by profits will no longer have jobs. Those who have not got technical skills will soon realise they are being pushed out of the working world. It's not a good thing, it's kinda sad. But it would have happened in the long term anyway. The UK wants to be prosperous in the new age, we would have had to support them in 15 years time when they lost their jobs anyway. At least now people have a chance to reskill themselves if they have the inclination.
I'm not saying it's good. But most of the people who will lose jobs, will lose them because they don't have a real skill, they're living off debt, and credit cards and can't actually afford to live here but can't face reality.
