I don't usually get emotional with documentaries but this one hit me. There are so many scenes were I just started crying. This is a beautiful movie. From the production to the music. Very powerful.
This documentary changed my life. David Pearce is a superstar, his relationship with Kevin is inspirational. When David said "I hate my disabuility too" , it opened my heart and mind. I had the good fortuner to know Kevin and interview him and Lucy Walker around the premier of The Crash Reel. Now I work with disabled adults.
Appreciate your health people. It's great to push your passions, always be brave but stay humble. And never forget the people who really stand beside you. Those are the qualities that set Keven apart and I hope the great qualities people continue to take from him as inspiration no matter how physical abilities.
And this was an amazing Documentary, I recommend everyone watch it. It's on HBO On Demand if you get that. Whether you are into Snowboarding or not you really should see it.
you have to take into consideration that Shaun made a choice to change and be that type of person. In his mind he thought he didnt have the raw talent to be #1 so he felt a need to who he is now. KP was a more natural rider.
I just remember feeling robbed, Kevin Pearce and Shaun White would have had so many epic X games and Winter Olympics duels, instead Shaun White just smashed everyone for years after Kevins injury....
I'm with you on that one. First time I saw the doc, I thought: "Oh my God, what a giant douche". But thinking about it afterwards, I'm sure they intentionally depicted him as such. And calling him "Mr. Shaun White" and writing "Makeup artist for Mr.Shaun White" in the credits, was probably the people behind the movie making fun of him, rather than Shaun himself demanding it to be like that. Or maybe it's all just a part of the harmless rivalry between the snowboarders. And Shaun actually finds it funny. It's hard to say.
TheJackiePaper Everything is factual though. Shaun was clearly a big part of Kevin's life pre accident, the competitive relationship they held clearly pushed Shaun into a more reclusive form of snowboarding. I don't think he can argue that and in that sense the film portrays an accurate representation of him and his behaviour whether you depict that as good or bad is for the audience to decide. He agreed to take part in the film and no doubt had a say in the final edit in regards to the parts he was featured in to whether it could be used. As for a make up artist, wouldn't you take the piss out of your mate if he demanded to use a make up artist?! I certainly would!!
+David Tynan the make up artist, etc has to be listed in credits. And there are rules about order of list! OK lol! So it's not a jab. I'd get damn make up lol
The onlyyyy reason they talk shit about Shaun White all he time in this movie is BECAUSE of Shaun... He treated the Frends crew poorly after Kevin starting winning comps.. They were all really good friends at one point... The Frends crew and a lot of other crews like Jake Blauvelt and his crew even Travic Rice or a lot of other guys are snowboarding, they are fairly laid back and friendly which IS what snowboarding is about where Shaun is very shut off to everyone and is a machine to the rest of the snowboarding world.. just why most people hate Shaun... Ill never take anything away from Shaun's riding and none of them ever did either... its just how he acts and treats everyone. Just my two cents.
As much as I agree with that, I didn't get the sense of shit talking in the movie. Yeah, Shaun is like 'playing chess on your computer and setting it to expert'. But I wouldn't blame it on Shaun. Kevin Pearce is my motivation these days (A fellow TBI survivor) and the crash was an accident. Who we should be blaming is the higher ups who sports industry who are supposed to be realize when the walls on the half pipe are unsafe.
+Wade Raynor I actually thought it was a fair portrayal, i liked shawn in the movie, he is not painted as a bad guy he is just the rival. He does comes out as a nice guy. He is more task oriented than any of the frends crew and for that reason he comes out as a bit of a dick, but i can see he is a good guy and a true pro.
Craving approval and being the best is a sad sold dream. Shaun's life is a waste, all that pressure of expectation, I don't see him enjoying many moments. He could suffer a similar fate to Kevin.
I don't think he was awful just solitary,. but a tad temperamental! But young man who was under a lot of pressure! I think normal when very competitive!

I completely agree, the ending scene especially got me..
Akselgen I teared up at the Sara Burke part. Just the way everything got tied together was excellent.
AnEpilepticsVlog I agree again, I think the music played a very big part in this movie, Lucy Walker is a genius.
Akselgen every song they put in this film was to deliberate for the setting. She is a genius.
AnEpilepticsVlog Happy to find a person that feels the same way about this movie, I have litteraly seen it 15-20 times.
I bawled like a baby when I saw this documentary and this end scene is just perfect.
Haven't watched for a while. I am still in love with this clip.

WHAT-A-MOVIE that was. Just awesome. Gives me chills when I watch it again and again. Lucy Walker is really amazing !
One of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen and the music makes it that much better.
My favorite documentary with my favorite ending soundtrack.
The best documentary i've ever seen!
Best documentary ever and a Perfect ending.
my second comment... beautiful movie. Saw myself in it with my mental health challenges. One day we'll be old... let's live the stories NOW!
this is the bestest movie ever. I could watch it over and over again.

great scene!
Have Shaun & Kevin kept in touch all of these years later? Their unique bond was captured so beautifully in the film.
They were rivalries and Shaun white was a sore loser
@@prodalexsaibot6402 Yes, the documentary kind of alludes to that.
I will ride to this song
Nice song!
Loved it
really well done movie.
yo i had Picture This back in the day. This part was always one of my favorite despite not being that into superpipe shit
imagine how good he would have been it was the first year at his peak era and he bettered shaun in most comps that year x hell be back
And his brother good to.
2019

susan colby I love red bull, much respect for them, but these limits showed they aren't safe with so many people over the years.

susan colby Pipes are fun, but they're getting crazier and crazier every year.
Does anyone know was this clip shot before or after Kevin's accident?
Lil' Bill obviously before ... they were kids
Before his accident. Not after
😳😭
This was shot before Kevin started smoking white .
