All the mudlarkers featured in your blogs are so generous & of kind disposition ..Always parting their finds as gifts for you when they see your excitement...Loved the barrel ring ..Also noticed how you clutched onto it with all your might lie a child refusing to part with their favorite toy..🤗
I worked for Esso for 40 years we had those plates in the canteen when I first started and cutlery with stolen from Esso printed on them. The Esso tanker ships also carried them, they used to own small bunker barges so may have been dropped from them. Lovely interesting videos, thanks.
Yay. My 40 years of metal detecting knowledge is going to pay off for once. I only know this because I have found 2. The round metal artefact in the piece of wood is a brass barrel bung. Basically the bung has an external tapered thread that would of screwed the bung into a barrel ( tapered thread to make it air/liquid tight ) then a cork or tap would be located into the middle hole for extracting the contents. You have the brass bung plus part of the round wood barrel. 😊.
Grateful for the opportunity to be able to let you know that the respect you give to prayer chaplets is a good sign of your beautiful heart. Nice video. Thanks. Blessings
Hello Nichola. I really enjoyed your video. It's really good to get out of your comfort zone and discover new places. Thank you for letting us see your collection.
I have lived my life with that( you only live once),and I have the scars to prove it, I wouldn't chance a thing, as a little boy my dad told me son try every thing at least once and if you enjoyed it do it again, enough about me, another one of your adventures that I have enjoyed Nicole, thank you
I discovered your channel about a week ago, and I've been addicted ever since! As of this moment I am watching this video, and I just finished watching all your videos. So now I can say for the first time in my life I've binge watched something! I find you videos fascinating and can not stop watching them!
Im obsessed with all of you mudlarkers!! I have been watching all of the mudlarkers during quarantine!! Absolutely relaxing and calming! Thank you so much. ♡ from the US
4.15am on a Tuesday morning. I would never hsve imagined I would find myself wandering around by the Thames in the company of a VC "recipient" and a beautiful woman! Thank you for starting my day so well miss. Blessings and peace
Forgot to add that I think the piece of wood with the large ring with Nicholson bromley on it is a barrel plank because it has typical oak checkers in it features seen in oak and the metal ring is possibly the bung retainer or tap hole that a publican would hammer his pouring tap in it whether it was a beer barrel or hard liquor receptical is hard to say.......bye the way did I already tell you “ you CAN sing girl” and I mean in tune....good ear Nicola 😊😊😊
Hello Again Nicola. Some nice finds again .The LCS Bottle stopper is an early milk bottle stopper from the London Co op Society, The are known as " Swing stoppers " .. Happy Hunting ..Terry
Hi Nicola I love your channel, I am addicted to your mudlarking, in Canada we call it beachcombing. The little ryhmn if you find a penny pick it up and all day you'll have good luck has a second line, if you give it to a friend then your luck will never end.Hope your luck never ends.
Absolutely Tobias. I had a great time. Thank you for taking me along the Putney foreshore! And for giving me the Esso plate and little clock face! :) And I loved hearing about your wonderful find of the VC. Magical x
Those Esso plates would take 'pride of place' on a wall in my bedsit... Also, your stepdad is so lucky to have such a lovely stepdaughter... Love to you and yours. XX
Just found your show Nicola.I absolutely love it!your editing, ethics in presentation, and information are refreshing. You also have a very pleasing voice that I could listen to indefinitely.
Jerry's right Nicola -people today aren't as -clean- as past generations who tossed things in the Thames, lots of broken glass and who knows what else. I always worried about your bare hands doing that stuff. I vote for gloves too.
Wonderful finds the metal in the Wood is from a very old beer barrel it's a brass stopper the middle bit hole would have had a wood stopper I found one recently in a middle of a pasture field il send you a photo of it thanks again for a great video
There was i wetting my whistle when I saw you pick up what looked like a vulcanite bottle stopper with the word Lucozade stamped on it which owing to a rotten new year cold I was drinking at that very moment, It was good to see you step out of your little corner of London and test the larks elsewhere, I liked those Esso plates very much indeed it’s unusual for you to find fully intact ceramics and I’m sure it made a nice change for you, I’d have been pleased as punch with them myself and didn’t they clean up well?, As always a delightful video Nicola which I enjoyed very much, And before I go I have to say I like your new studio it’s very light and airy isn’t it?, And i loved the porthole in the door that’s a great little touch, Your step father has done a good job there, I like the shelf full of stuffed toys it’s always sad to see a lost toy of that kind but they all look at home together there, Till next time Happy Larks Nicola.
Thank you for that lovely video. I can't get over finding a Victoria Cross, amazing! What a lucky man! Thank you again and may you have many Great finds !
I kept looking for London Bridge; as a child we sang and played London Bridge is falling down falling down; of course I would hope to see it some day and hopefully it lasts forever; all the best Nicola; love your new digs
I keep seeing your seascapes on your wall, I also have the one on the left in the white frame. My father gave it to my grandparents as a thank you gift in the early 60s.
Any day on the river bank is a good day but it's better when a friend comes along! Glad I got to hang out with you guys! I always enjoy your finds but love to hear what you tell us about them! As always I'm just a little jealous over here in Tennessee take care!
I have to say, living in US, I can't remember the last time I went mudlarking with a guy named Tobias in Putney and finding a skittle. I'm impressed, though, you were able to use the word "resplendent" in a sentence. Kudos. Now - if you'll excuse me, I've got some porthole peeking to do.....
Thanks for the studio tour Nicola! It was really cool to see all you've amassed from the Thames through your hobby. Those Esso plates are super dope btw!
Another good video Nicola. Glad you had company on your mud larking. Also glad to see you wearing gloves. It’s a must in our hobby.. looking forward to the next video. Stay safe.👍😀
Oh how I'd love to rummage in your studio! looking around there's loads of your finds that you've shared with us on here. Thank you for giving them a home and a new purpose ❤️
So interesting to see how different the parts of the river are and the finds. I used to drive around all these places in my job but never had the time to investigate. Finding a VC has to be mind blowing as they are just so rare.So glad it's in a museum where future generations can see it and hopefully learn of the sacrifices. Another wonderful video and what nice people all the mudlarkers are!
This video was honey to my veins as I had the pleasure to do my very first mudlarking on that foreshore with Tobias. Maybe next year I have the pleasure to meet you on the foreshore Nicola! Your wooden barrel piece was a wonderful find. The Hammersmith bridge is gorgeous. Have a wonderful day!
Nicola, as always great video. I love watching you videos, I have learned so much from you. Tyvm for your curiosity and at times investigative skills.skills, you are a kind lady...take care my friend
Nice vid Nicola! Here's a tip; .303 cartridges from WW2 are stamped with a roman 7 (VII) on the bottom. (Mk7). Allways enjoy to watch your video's! Good luck and happy hunting!
I liked the lucazade bottle stopper the drink was invented at a chemist's in the haymarket at Newcastle upon Tyne they had a factory at longbenton where the glass bottles where filled, labelled then wrapped with orange cellophane another good video
8.43 - you've already got a chest-piece! :-) - the plastic bra, (I'll probably get banned by Nicky for that!) Esso plates, if I recall correctly (I was 10) the forecourts had a promotion a bit like Green Shield stamps - as you bought fuel, you collected stamps, and they could be traded for pieces of crockery.
Hi Nicola, I can't help but notice what a positive sounding person you are. You treat every find with the same enthusiasm. You even sounded slightly pleased with the false teeth find!😁😁😁The thing you called an " alley gog "? ..we had them as kids and we called them Snobs.
Great finds again Nicola! Beautiful views as well. Nice work on the studio. Love the way it's arranged with so many finds. I guess you could call it the Woman Cave! LOL!
Very enjoyable. Showed this to one of my three daughters. All are grown. Her response: "Okay, this is now on my bucket list." So beware. If a young woman from Texas every visits London and gives you a call, it might be her. :-)
Have just found your channel and am binging!!! Thank you so much for your videos. I love your artwork and in particular your fish... They are exquisite! Have an awesome weekend... and keep the videos coming... Please!
Nice studio and collection of finds, I liked the shadow box with partial doll face, creepy in the best way lol Those plates are a sweet find and in amazing condition. Thanks for sharing what you found out about the brass barrel bung and the heroic and tragic story you discovered.
All the mudlarkers featured in your blogs are so generous & of kind disposition ..Always parting their finds as gifts for you when they see your excitement...Loved the barrel ring ..Also noticed how you clutched onto it with all your might lie a child refusing to part with their favorite toy..🤗
You've had such a lovely peaceful afternoon. It's such a joy to see gentle peaceful people

That's great. Thank you very much
myview1875 cool 😎 I wanna get out detecting this year again 👍✊🏼
I kid you not. I know nothing of metal detecting but I immediately thought barrel bung when I saw it. That or a bearing.
I agree it's a metal bunge of a wooden barrel
I concur, that is part of a barrel with the bung for a tap. At first I thought it might have been a section of a broken airplane propeller
What a breath of fresh air you are.
The boys are always so kind to you,Nicola. It’s nice to see ❤️
Grateful for the opportunity to be able to let you know that the respect you give to prayer chaplets is a good sign of your beautiful heart. Nice video. Thanks. Blessings
