They played a lot of gigs together while roughing it on the road. ED will openly say Mike was his mentor, he learnt soooooo much from Mike and even pinched things from Mike. Mike is OK with that. They have remained unmovably close though their journeys have been very different. ED has 100% respect and trust for Mike. Seeing Passenger concert you see where ED gets a lot of his style and behaviour from. It like a big brother teaching a little brother - they are totally adorable together ED is bonkers about his mate passenger. We are lucky to have them to bless our ears and open our hearts. BIG LOVE.
+Anne Margaret O'connor yes, I actually know about their friendship, and no wonder Ed's lyrics sound soo familiar to Mikes, the style of lyrics the was of singing, they're all very similar, yet they do have their own differences as musicians. Its clear that Ed has learnt a lot from Mike, but the fact that Mike has songs like THIS and quite a few others (which I do think are like/better than lot of Ed's songs) but still doesn't get recognized as much or close is just sad, and kinda unfair. Sigh.
