I would love to hear and see your reaction to ICS Vortex vocal singer from the band Arcturus. Considered by many the best clean voice in metal. Please check this out: Arcturus - Ad Absurdum
I think people tend to forget that at this specific venue, show whatever you want to call it, he was invited as a wildcard! He never sang in english before and this was I believe his first time which he had to learn in a week or so to perform it! Give him credit for that! His latest songs you can hear and see that his English is much much better!
@@BeckyNicholas yes , I can only imagine how much work was put in by Dimash to do what he did in that show! He was fabulous, brilliant and the best! Little problem with his pronunciation?? That was and should never be an issue to excellence of his vocal abilities!
@@alvaropeneda339 And add to that not only was he learning songs in all these languages with only 1 week prep time.... between Episodes 3 (Show must go on)& 4 (Autumn Strong - learning his first Mandarin song) he flew to Almaty, Kazakhstan and performed in the 2017 Winter Universaide Opening Ceremony and then flew back to China and during episode 4 had the meeting with Jackie Chan (recorded and televised) then between Episodes 6 & 7 he flew home to Astana to meet with and organize his previous classmates etc to go back to China with him to perform Daididau. Its no wonder with this schedule he lost his voice (plus all the travel etc). Amazing!!
Dimash has been advancing his English studies. I can't imagine where he found the time for it before the lockdown, but he did. He's still a beginner, but I think what he has picked up will help him with English songs. He isn't resting on his laurels. Hmm, a recent song in English comes to mind - the trailer video for 'The Creators: The Past," an unreleased Italian movie. Supposedly science fiction, but of course it's really a fantasy; there's no real connection to science. The song is called 'Endless Dimensions.' His English is definitely improved in this video. There are some pretty heavy studio-applied effects, but it's still Dimash singing his heart out. Good! I can't recall if you reviewed that one or not. His English isn't so good in 'Adagio,' but who cares? Not me. It's a beautiful, dramatic, energetic piece, and I will never tire of hearing it again. Cheers!
Me too! I will also never tired to hearing this song again and again... I feel this melody and his christal clear singing are coming from his whole soul... And this is more important for me than his accent...

One note about his English -- even at the point of Episode 3 of The Singer when he performed The Show Must Go On; his total English was the most basic Hello greetings and Thank You... since his season on the show, he has been studying both English and Mandarin while touring (until the virus stopped things)... He still has a major accent, but in more recent performances you can definitely tell how hard he's working towards better pronunciation 😉
Does he not attend English courses at school ? Certainly he does, but may be he was not a studious pupil. Edit : Of course, "not a studious pupil." is a joke.
@Fabienne Daguet you do realise that not all countries have English lessons. In Kazakhstan the 2 languages are Kazakh and Russian. I am sure you speak multiple lessons of course. He has his Masters and working on his Doctorate at 26 so I can safely say he is studious. Not everyone speaks English. He was scheduled to join a University in California to study exchange but Covid hit. Perhaps thinking and wording things in a nicer way could be an option. I have lived in 7 countries. You?
@@maykacha4987 : I was not critising Dimash. I wondered if English' Dimash was really so basic at that time. I meant 2 hours per week during 3 years, for exemple. A lot of French attend English courses during some years and are unable to speak. And me I can read English and I am writing these few sentences without a dictionnary, but I am still unable to understand a video in English without subtitles (I'am over 50).
@@fabiennedaguet9796 its not a question of being studious. Dimash was a diligent student from childhood to date scoring the highest on his masters. English is not taught in schools in many parts of the world and when he was growing up its like French is in my country - only offered as private lessons outside of the school curricular.
@@fabiennedaguet9796 You obviously have no idea about the system of teaching foreign languages in post-Soviet countries. English is optional. For example, I studied German at school and institute. But since there is no practice, at the present time I cannot say even one phrase in German. In post-Soviet countries, the language of interethnic communication is Russian, not English.
At this point in his career, Dimash was singing English using only Phonetics. Yes, he could have waited until he was better. But then History would have played out differently and he might not even be known outside Kazakhstan. Glad he did it exactly the way he did.
@@maggiereneemusic Sure.......... I just received about 20 messages from you to other people. And one from you. I'm sorry but you misconstrued my posts and I would appreciate it if you would please not send out any messages to me again. Good luck to you. I DID enjoy your reactions.
Exactly! It's like one should put themselves out there just waiting to be discovered but on the otherhand if you wait for your skills to mature you are also taking a risk so basically as I would see it as a mere game of russian roulette or taking risks that's what life's basically about isn't it?😳😉😍
@@emilebakersfield3587 I can "easily" say YES in Dimash's case. Because he was "discovered" on this show. I'm not one to tempt fate. I am just thankful that we have a Dimash to enjoy.
Head shaking was due to exhaustion -- he was making almost daily plane travels to keep previously scheduled engagements. Also, to watch something in 2020 that was recorded is 2017 and comment about his English seems less than charitable. He had never spoken or sung in English before. I think he needs to be commended that he could learn the song phonetically in so short a period of time.
You're right, Frederick Girl. For that competition they brought their own music for the 1st week. Then for the next 12 weeks they were given music to choose from on Monday. They had to learn it and produce an arrangement for band and singers to use the following Saturday night. During that 12 week period Dimash managed to learn five english songs including a duet tribute to Michael Jackson, a "boy band" english medley and 2 chinese songs. He is a perfectionist and worked incessantly to produce the best possible sounds he could in the short time he had to work with translators and learn the lyrics phonetically. Maggie, I'm not faulting your assessment of his performance. Unless you've delved into the fan, news and personal videos here on youtube and watched all the "I Am a Singer" videos there isn't any way for you to know how this came about and how hard he had to work to satisfy the audience and himself. So I caution your fans not to judge too harshly. By the way, the people they kept flashing to were his other competitors backstage watching him perform. One interesting note - after each show the 7 singers and their "music partners" did an internal vote to rank each singer's performance. For this song, "Adagio", Dimash was ranked #1 by his peers.
It's not less than charitable. She is reacting to this song, not a song in the future - I'm sure when she hears more of those she will be impressed with his improvement. She even said that she herself has to study and work hard to learn other languages. So it's not like armchair Larry who can barely even speak their native language commenting on it.
We, the Dears, just love his Dinglish (Dimash+English). I am just tired seeing people commenting on his English pronunciation, when he only have 1 week to prepare. But i really don't care, music is transcendental, and i love everything from Dimash ❤️ 🇰🇿🇵🇭❤️
Yep. I agree. It is difficult to sing in a foreign language. That's why we all work so hard at it, including Dimash. Thank you for your comment. Did you like my other 6 reactions to Dimash?
WOW....!...What have I been missing?...Where have I been?...Under a rock....lol...and the "Blue Heart" was a nice touch after watching you watch Dimash...love ya and stay safe...
We love him for his unparalleled voice and sublime artistry!!! Of course it is your prerogative to want him sing like a British or American singer. For me his accent is part of his artistic entity. Would you ask from a country singer to sound posh? Hugs from Greece
Sending Hugs to Greece. Yep. I agree. It is difficult to sing in a foreign language. That's why we all work so hard at it, including Dimash. Thank you for your comment. Did you like my other 6 reactions to Dimash?
Maggie Reneé I loved every reaction you did. There is a difference between the mispronunciation and the accent . One never lose the accent, it pops up unexpectedly, no matter how many years you speak the foreign language on a daily basis. Dimash, having perfect pitch, could learn to produce the lyrics in any language even the “th” (θ) or “the “(δ), which aren’t in the Russian and Kazakh. I suppose that his first goal was to show his vocal capability to the world, than continue better himself in every domain. He is perfect to me , even with his mispronunciations. I apologize for taking much of your time! Stay safe! See in the next reaction, of course!
Omg I thought he did wonderfully.... seriously good. I enjoyed his accent showing through. I understood every word. More importantly he communicated the emotions flawlessly.
You know sometimes one feels sad when one hears something phenomenal? It is a strange yet powerful oxymoronic phenomenon.Dimash has this way sometimes of making us feel blue, but, like I said, in an oxymoronically powerful enigmatic way. It literally colors our hearts in shades of 💙.
Dimash didn't speak English in this competition, He had a week to learn the lyrics phonetically. So that was make it, for me at least, more impressive. Nice reaction.
I’ve been on a journey with Dimash´s English. I went through a short phase early on when it bothered me. Now it doesn’t at all. I just don’t focus on it and consider it part of his charm. And it is in any case much improved. Same in French with SOS incidentally.
So glad! Thanks for your comment. Yep. I agree. It is difficult to sing in a foreign language. That's why we all work so hard at it, including Dimash. Thank you for your comment. Did you like my other 6 reactions to Dimash?
Thanks so much Maggie!💙 Dimash always shows us his heart, but by the end of this one, I was half-expecting to see it just lying there out on the stage, still beating - I mean, this man gives this his ALL! He really is an incredible artist, and I just love him (and his cute/sexy Dinglish!) to bits...!😊 So please everyone, don't forget to show Dimash your support by subscribing to his official YT channel, if you haven't already - the fact it's yet to reach even a million subscribers, is almost criminal!😱 Thanks again Maggie, sending much love to you and my fellow Dears from across the globe - ❤❤WE ARE ONE!!❤❤ and I love you all!👋🤗
Maggie Reneé yes, you kind of forgot to check the date of the video before talking about his English, hope you know now that video is older than 3 years. He has short conversations with his dears in the concerts now. So, it’s not about learning one song language (diction), like maybe it’s what you are learning to do, he talks, he loves to share with his dears. Let me know when you reach that point in your career. You say don’t come after me, but you mentioned it twice. What’s the need. Don’t you think his audience haven’t noticed? He’s worried and working on it. For me, I love him enough to ignore that, because he’s just too awesome to give importance to something that eventually he will correct. But cultivating his art goes first for him and he dedicates his time to what is more important to him, I’m glad with all his choices.
@@maggiereneemusic I don t think that God likes to be called Gosh and not to take him serious in so many ways and that I think is far more important than an english pronunciation... To bad that you don t seriously study about Nikola Tesla and at least some important ortodox saints maybe beggining with Saint Lavrentie of Cernigov...
just a fyi: I have heard that he does now have a coach teaching him English pronunciation. In fairness- he was in a Chinese competition....learning Chinese was more a priority at this time in his life
💙 What a treat to see your reaction and commentary on this Dimash performance. I likened this to Laura's version because of the heart and soul she gives us while singing. I must admit, when I heard Dimash sing this three years ago it destroyed me! I was shaking, clenching my jaw, tears down my cheeks and almost falling out of my chair. This man is just a gift from God! Stay well!
Dimash is born in Kazakh, grow up there, so I don't mind his accent, He will be better in the future I am sure , I love him what so ever, his perform always capture me in anyway, he is my best list must watch everyday, thanks.

You gotta remember, at this stage, he was still learning English. So I have always given him a pass on the early stuff. His diction now is a 1000 times better. He's still learning, and that's what is important. He's still putting in the effort to learn. Awesome reaction as always!! 😁😁
Just a suggestion....when you do a reaction to Dimash’s singing, try to ignore his pronunciation of English. When he was 24 he said, “ two years ago I could say Hi my name is Dimash”. He was 22 at the time of this contest. They showed a video of Dimash being coached on his Chinese pronunciation for a song he sang in the competition. He didn’t speak any Chinese or English at that time. Dimash won this round in the competition. For most people his beautiful singing outweighs some mispronunciation in his English. Check out “Hello” on Singer. He did a guest performance the year after he participated in the Singer contest. You’ll see quite a bit of improvement in his English pronunciation.
Thanks for your suggestion. I was reacting to what I heard in this video only. That's why it's called a live reaction. I am glad Dimash was able to do sing in so many different languages in a short time. However, I had hoped that my honesty in what I was hearing in this particular video would be appreciated and understood. What kind of a reactor would I be if I said everything is wonderful all the time?? No one is perfect, but like Dimash we all strive to do the best we can by putting in many years of language diction study, at least in the classical world.
I get the I'm from the classical world and please respect my honest opinion but Dimash is Global, appealing to all listeners. Plus he's an ambassador of his culture, he's a positive and moral character, he's disciplined, he shows respect and politeness. People need to respect this guy IMO. Any serious vocalist will tell you the obvious about his talent. Apparently he's missing some "element"and "connection " in this performance. Good luck finding those things. Will be interested to hear his own take though. Good luck with your future reviews.
Try reacting/reviewing different music genres and songs that are big elsewhere. It might make for a more dynamic review with your contrasting training/background. Good luck and keep posting, your positivity an personality shines through.
@@maggiereneemusic I don't think what is sought by the Dears, in response to Dimash is honesty that places itself above our regard for him. It is not rational but then, is any creature such as Dimash even POSSIBLE? No, and yet there he is, for many of us the miracle of our lifetimes. It's not really that you shouldn't criticize, but perhaps in future there is someone else more deserving of it. It is, I repeat, not POSSIBLE that he should even exist. We do not want to trifle with the magic that brought such a creature to earth. If we are not rational about him, then reason be fogged. When was love rational, and what benefit came of it?
@@maggiereneemusic Be aware that this is a Dimash highlight. Especially for opera singers. No high notes. Dimash stays in operatic baritone register the whole song. But still there is so much to discover. One hint: Focus your ears on vibrato...
Dimash never hesitates at hard work, and those who work with him will attest to the fact that he is eager for it; he can never get enough of it. Every single day he trains for 3 hours plus all the rest of what he has to do--and does it so cheerfully and without complaint.
About English language he improved so much after 2017! I lllove your Dimash reactions! I'd like to see very much from you the reaction of : SAMALTAU from Tokyo Jazz Festival. Don't miss it! He is grown higher and higher!!!! And you see his Charisma from a static position.....so incredible! I wait.....with faith
He speaks Dinglish 🤣 Dimash English. It's funny in his China interviews he starts with Chinese then when his vocab runs out he switches to English then when that runs out it's back to Kazakh with an interpreter 😝
and many of us like the accent anyway, so who cares? , it is very unique for Dimash and cute. I hope he will not loose it completely, cheers from Vienna
I agree with you in his diction, but if we listen to his grandmother's interview she said that he was having a hard time studying and learning Chinese while preparing for the show. being all stressed out, learning songs for a week, traveling, true he had all that training, but the way I see it he was 23 so this show was his first job after college, you probably don't know now but you make all those mistakes and ten years after you will go why did I do that, why did I allow those people to get over me, why did I make those career choices, same here, this was his first job after training, he was finding himself, not so bad, he did a great job. Three years later he still working, still a couple of years to get real life experience to face what is really after school.
eve ruby I would say in school he rarely did English music. His pronunciation in Italian is quite good, he also did at the time also pronounce French pretty well. So I am guessing they stayed more with European, Russian and Kazach classical pieces. Just a guess. So, my guess is popular music was his only real exposure to English. But, I do agree he needs to and is working on it. His English has come a long way from the singer.

@@maykacha4987 No you missed my point, I didn't mean he learned English, I meant it as a life experience. Not that he learned the language. It was sort of a metaphor.

I get so tired of people talking about his accent. I think that is part of his charm. I listen to him two or three hours every day. At this point, he didn't know English at all. A lot of singers have accents. The Italians, Spanish, and French. It's not like he is singing one type of song like opera. He has many fans that don't mind his accent.
@@kriknut1 I agree with both of you! That is why I also commented on the same issue! Many and I mean many professional voice teachers that I have listened to reacting to Dimash have said the exact same thing we have just mentioned! It is not the pronunciation that really matters given to the fact that he had a week to learn english, it's the amazing voice, character, technique that this incredible young man has! No one in this world better !
Thank you, you were nicer than I would have been...it always upsets me greatly when people refer to his accent...My come back is that I want them to go to Kazakhstan and in one week learn and arrange a song..get up on stage and perform it...in front of 500 Kazakh people...Wishing them good luck with that....
@@alvaropeneda339 and there are voice teachers/reactor who mentioned this, with way more accent, than Dimash s. I don't care, though English isn't my mother tongue, I can tell there are so many other singers, having an accent. But most of the reactors don't give a thought on, how long did he had time to learn a new song in a different language? And let's not talk about the arrangements 😉 and other performances in between.
I am with you. I honestly love his accent. I had no difficulty understanding him at all when he spoke mostly in English in New York and I think it is great that he sings in so many languages. I too get sick of people pointing out that a person who is not a native English speaker has of all things an accent!
Hey Maggie! Quick thing about the English thing. I truly get what you're saying about it because I had the same thoughts during the performance actually. I would also mention that, he was learning English really for the second time here on the show. The Singer went on for over 3 months... he was learning something back to back for weeks. I don't question Dimashes work ethic at all so I could only imagine how hard it was doing it all. Also to mention, 2 weeks later he was so sick he had to get steroids in his neck for one of his performances. That may have been him on the down-turn of getting sick. I've also heard others mention that the head shake may be due to him being so resonant... and not due to strain. You can also see it on Opera 2 if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for all you do though!!
@@maggiereneemusic I like all your videos and reactions including this one. I'm a Maggie fan but still a Dimash superfan. I still love other artists though like Pentatonix 👍
Maggie...I also noticed the shaking/tension thing, even in the opening lines. I've watched a lot of Dimash, and I've never seen that before or after this performance. I'm curious about that and the possibility that he was nervous. I know that in spite of his personal humility, he is enormously self-assured about performing. I know that he idolized Lara Fabian, and I've wondered if that possibly caused him to be nervous. You are the only person I've seen who noticed it. I know you are highly trained and experienced in vocal music, and I admire and enjoy your insightful reaction.

3 years ago and he had to give it his all. He needed the extra points for the competition. This was his 2 nd English song. You need to hear his Hello that he did a year later. Know Vocalise is very interesting.
Maggie Reneé I love your Dimash reactions. I’m sorry that some people gave you a hard time on your comments. Dimash is very humble and kind and would never approve of any negative comments. He held a live stream on IG and was so happy when someone said his English is getting better. He had the biggest smile. Some dears are very protective of him since he was disrespected on the American show. The World’s Best. If you get a chance watch that in private. Keep up the good work. Thank you 😊
Maggie, maybe one rainy day this fall sit back and watch a whole concert. Back, way back in my church singing days, it was a quite thrill to be up before the congregation. Now I imagine what it must feel like to see waves of emotion, ripples of swooning as he dimashifies entire stadiums of fervent fans and followers. The crowd shots almost remind me of church revivals where people are all caught up and fall out.
Hi welcome back to Dimash! Yes, Dimash can travel to all of his registers and all of his different voices smoothly which makes him very special, one of a kind. His English and Mandarin at 22 was phonetically but now is better in terms of diction, however the thing about him is he is music itself, language is secondary, so it doesn’t really matter when one enjoys his singing.
Thank you for your warm welcome. If you see any NEW videos being Premiered through Christmas by this or any other wonderful artist, would you please let me know so I can do LIVE reactions for my B-E-A-U-TIFUL family?
💙 Love your reaction and especially the honest critique. I would like to recommend that you react to one of the Kazakh songs Dimash performs, just to see the difference in his performance when the language is his own. Daididau, Samaltau or the most recent, Qairan Elim.
Thank you, Maggie, Dear, for your sweet reaction!💙 I missed your crazy reviews so much! You always comment on technical details, vocal nuances and ... honestly show what you feel at the moment. Maggie, this is my second post. I love your enthusiasm and appreciation for Dimash. Your intro always seems to show an expression of joyousness. I think that the reason you (and others) get push-back when commenting on Dimash's accent is that it happens invariably when a reactor is watching something that is now years old. Those of us who follow Dimash, know that over these last several years he has gone from singing different languages phonetically to actually studying the languages. Anyone trying to learn a new language in a different alphabet can find it daunting. So I think even the slightest criticism can be taken for a need for us Dears to jump to his defense. It's amazing to think that there are so many of us out there who act like momma bears around their cub!! Anyway, I have seen all of your Dimash reactions and hope you will continue them. Peace.

Hi Maggie remember that in 2017 Dimash's priority was China, thus, English pronounciation was not his priority, because he was almost unknown abroad of Kazhastan. Afterwards he has improved his French and English and Italian fluency.
you know what's fun? you know the song so I can see you kind of anticipating where Dimash might go, then when he doesn't because he's beyond where he should be, your expressions are Priceless because you understand how far beyond he actually goes. the beauty of Dimash is his randomness, his range allows him to do things most singers cannot and his instincts to do these things are what draws you in. Each change is like tasting a new treat for the first time. this is why you are fun to watch when you watch Dimash. you savor the changes instead of just noticing them.
@@maggiereneemusic ive seen a few of them, havent seen all 6 yet, but i assure you i will. the young man is amazing! have you seen anything yet of his little friend Daneliya Tuleshova? she's just turned 14 and sings pop music, for a young child she is quite gifted. the Kazakhstani people have a lot to be proud of musically these days. anyway, i very much enjoy your commentary and will be frequenting a lot of your video's , just a tease since you like us to "listen to the end" i'll finish with a question do you still live in NYC? (relax , not stalking, i live in Virginia)
Regarding his pronunciation. In 2017 when he sang this, he could basically only say My name is Dimash in English. Yes, that was an area of big improvement. And yes he improved DRAMATICALLY in just 3 years.
Thanks for this reaction Maggie! Dimash was 22 here (Singer 2017). Another vocal coach (TSS) also commented on the head shaking that although its considered bad technique, in D's case, it's the sheer power of his voice resonating in the skull which apparently also happens on Opera2. He also throws back his neck a lot in belt mode. But Di defies convention. His english has improved somewhat; at this time in China he knew only a few words 'Hello my name is Dimash, nice to meet you', he's been learning since on top of his committed studies. Dimash knows more than anyone that his english is bad but he puts himself out there regardless. It takes courage and confidence to make those choices as you well know. Imagine if singers only sang in their mother tongues or in a dominant language like english only....how bland our world would be! D sings songs in 12 languages, the other day I watched him sing in Farsi or Arabic, very different experience of him singing with melismas throughout the song. Whoever in the Deardom gets the chance to help him with his english pronunciation would be doing a service to mankind🤗 thanks again for a lovely reaction to Dimash dear Maggie🧡💛🧡💛🧡.

Thanks for reacting to Dimash again! Always loved watching your reactions to him. I won't talk about his grasp of English back then since everyone had already told you already. It was also quite distracting for me as well when I first heard his English performances back in 2017, so I understood what you were trying to say. Hi!
Hi, Maggie! Always enjoy your reactions. I would very much like to see your reaction to the song Samaltau performed by Dimash at the jazz festival in Tokyo.. Believe me, this is an incredible performance of a Kazakh folk song about a simple Kazakh guy who was taken as a soldier in the tsarist army to fight in the great war in 1916 . I would very much like to hear your opinion as a professional about the performance of this song by Dimash.
@@maggiereneemusic Yes, I liked them very much. Especially "Love like a dream", where you remembered your parents ' tape with Alla Pugacheva's recordings.

@@maggiereneemusic I did enjoy them. It's wonderful to hear your observations. It carries gravity when a trained singer chimes in and expands an incomprehensible performance. I didn't go to Juliard but I did have training from a retired voice coach from the met in my little southern town
I've been waiting for this reaction. Thanks 💙. BUT, you should know that he didn't speak English at the time and I would like to see you or anyone else learn this song in a language you don't know in just ONE week. Besides. English is one of the most difficult language to sing, if it is not your first language (or second).
Did he have to sing this song? I assume he chose it, because he knew it. Learning a song in a foreign language in a week is a challenge for anyone, and probably best avoided. As viewers, we don't always have the back story, and it shouldn't be expected that we do or care. That's just a fact of life for any professional performer, they don't provide a list of excuses every time they sing.
Okay, Maggie Renee....I can bear to listen to accented Dimash, in fact, I love his accent, at whatever stage he has reached in learning English. What I cannot bear with equanimity is any slightest, minuscule, most infinitesimal criticism of Dimash, his singing, his pronunciation or enunciation or any fault with his style in clothing or his manner of doing this or doing that, his vocal choices or lifestyle or physical appearance, the shape of his nose or any other feature, or his mannerisms or the way he treats others,, or what he eats or how he looks when sleeping (in that utterly angelic way he has) or how he breathes or gives his "mwa" adorable kisses to thousands of people at a time....To make myself plain to you, there is something in a Dear that rises up howling in rage and an urgent"Don't say it! Don't say it" reaction to any criticism of that angel, that darling, that miracle of a singer and general performer, that exquisite 6'3" length of sweet-natured perfection that is Dimash. May he never learn the English language, to anyone else's satisfaction, should it so please him....He may chop it to smithereens and it will be as fluent as his beloved Kazakh or the Italian of "Ogni Pietra." He can do no wrong. Some there may be who find a flaw, but I--and most of the many millions of Dears in the world--will feel at least some objection to it being considered necessary to mention such a thing. I realize that you feel it is your job, as a reactor, to say such things. As a Dear, it is equally my job to protest. And now, I believe I have done so. I shall not have an occasion, again, to trouble you with the agitation I feel at having heard him so maligned.
i would say cut him a break... Dimash can sing in like 12 different languages, plus this performance is a few years old so he's certainly gotten better by now but not perfect by any means, but again.. 12 different languages... i can't even imagine how much it takes to learn and retain all that
I think for this competition when they choose a song to sing for the next round, they only have a week to prepare. That's not only the lyrics, but how the musical arrangement will be. At this point in his life, he didn't know any English aside from a few words like hello, thank you. So to learn an entire song's lyrics in a foreign language in only a week is pretty impressive.
Oh, he's amazing. And he does so much more. He's ever better now. I'd recommend starting with SOS and Sinful Passion, if you want to hear more from him.
Thanks for your great reaction! This performance was 3 1/2 years ago, his English is much better now, try Your Love at the Kremlin concert (a song written for Dimash by Igor Krutoy) which is more recent! Another epic performance from Dimash is Daybreak (at Bastau concert) it’s absolutely brilliant!
I just remind myself that this is from 2017 on a competition show for which he had to learn a new song each week. His English has improved a lot since then but his accent still sneaks through a bit. I don't care though. Listening to him is a gift whether I understand what he's saying or not. As he primarily sings in other languages I don't understand it's not a huge stretch for me.
@@maggiereneemusic I've watched all of your Dimash reactions multiple times! I absolutely love them! My favorite is Ogni Pietra. I've lost count of how many times I've watched that one. When I first started watching Dimash perform I struggled with his English. After a while I just turned it off and enjoyed the music for what it was. I find it much easier to tune the accent out than I would if he was pitchy lol. That's my hot spot. It literally makes my ears hurt and I start twitching. It's one of the reasons I love him so much. He never makes me twitch. He sang Hello (by Lionel Ritchie) on the show the year after he was on it. His English had improved a lot just over that time. Plus he has a belting section in that one that literally makes my brain explode! I only speak English so I have no idea how his pronunciation is in any of the other languages he sings in but I do appreciate the effort he's put in over the years on improving his English. Love you bunches!
Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, it is the result of more than twenty years of preparation and gives a genetic marvel because his parents are two glories of the singing of Kazakhstan since he is 5 years old he is singing to "publicly or professional "he plays more than ten instruments and sings in more than ten languages, his vocal range is very wide reaching a D8 live at the Gakku concert, an unforgettable day, he is not an imitator how" Marcelito "Dimash has his own style and he is the creator of the Popera, he also writes, composes and arranges music, at his young age he does not stop growing and improving day by day to perfection, he is very famous in Asia and now he is becoming known in Europe and America, Tenor , against Tenor, Baritone, Soprano, Mezasoprano all at the same time is how to listen to 5 singers at the same time, he has a very pleasant and humble personality which makes him easy to follow, he always travels with his family and friends giving good examples of education and proper conduct, saludos From Venezuela

He looks real tired their. Look around his eyes. The Right words don't matter too me. I just love to hear him sing. He can sing the phonebook and it would beautiful.
The night before this performance, his choice of song had not been as popular as usual, and on the night when he did "Adagio" he had to sing for his life, just to stay in the running. And he did. No amount of articulate English could have substituted for the passion and incredible talent he displayed on this night. And he won first place!
Gracias por volver a Dimash!!!!!!!!!!thanks for coming back to Dimash !! He is working hard to perfect his English and Mandarin Chinese. This recording is from 2017 !!!!!!!!
Thank you for your lovely comment and I am glad you understood my reaction! I appreciate your support!! 😀💖 Did you like my other 6 video reactions to Dimash?
This was back in 2017 during The Singer competition in China and he barely spoke any English at all. So any song he sung in English he learned phonetically. He's been really working on it these last 3 years. The episode right before this was "Uptown Funk " which while he got everyone joining in and having fun it wasn't technical or needing any skill and was his lowest placement (6th). He wasn't pleased with his performance of it. So the next week he did Adegio and put every cell and ounce of energy he had into it (and very well felt some pressure - from himself to get his placement back up) and yes took 1st place!!! 💙🤗💙🤗💙🤗💙🤗💙
You do know that he was only 22 and from Kazakhstan and how could he learn better before this performance? He had no time to learn better before this performance. He is fluent in his language and Russia. He is not nervous he had won numerous awards before he was even a teenager and many afterwards. I thought he did a wonderful job and so did the audience. He has perfect pitch and has since he was 5 years old. No one can sing better than him. He is the absolutely best singer in the world! He can do nothing wrong as far as I am concerned and like I said he was not at all nervous.
Thank you for your comment, but I think you misunderstood my reaction. Here is a comment that may clarify my reaction for you from one of my fans: Maggie Renee is a R E A C T O R! That means , Ladies and Gentlemen, she has not previously listened to or investigated the piece. She gets the idea of listening of a particular piece from her subscribers. So many point out the background and circumstance of Dimash but Maggie doesn't have that luxury if she is to be honest about being a reactor. You indicate she should have known what Dimash was going through. Put yourselves in Maggie's shoes. Report what you hear honestly or not. You have to admit, she is certainly passionate about what she hears. ❣
Hi Maggie, thank you for posting this. Just wanted to say that Dimash can now pronounce English much better, this was three years ago. There are a number of later versions on YT. Dont mind who you rext to next, its always entertaining to watch. Love John xx 💙
I don't understand why some of his fans attack anyone who has something even slightly critical to say. I knew when she said something about his English that the comments would come for her. Give it a rest, people. She never said he was bad or that she didn't enjoy it.
I think the issue for most people is that she assumed he didn't prepare enough without knowing anything about the circumstances. And they provide context. As for the toxic fans, they're probably like that as people, otherwise they wouldn't attack strangers on UA-cam. And they're inevitable on the Internet. Not justifying them at all, but it's not that unexpected.
No. She said he "should have put in more effort". That is not criticizing the performance. It's criticizing the person behind the performance. SHE should have put in more effort to not be so judgemental. Especially since it is obvious that she herself can not tolerate any criticism directed at her. I find it very hypocritical to attack people for giving their "honest" opinion about someone who uses giving her "honest" opinion as a shield from negative comments. This whole episode has turned from our enjoying Dimash , into stroking someones fragile ego. There are hundreds of other ways to enjoy Dimash's talent, without all the "oh poor me" crap.
You are so deeply emotionally involved and connected with your comments that it must be taking a lot of energy! Your training in opera is showing in your expressions which are colourful and touching! How sweet art thee !! Dimash is indeed giving all he has got
He improved his english a lot. And for defending him... In confront of many famous opera singers he sounds like a native Italian. 😀❤️❤️❤️🙌 The pronunciation of mostly English speaking people is super awful for us. 😆 The kazakh language and Italian language seems to be friendly with each other. 😂😂 Thank you for reacting to Dimash. 😁
Not only that, as a native Russian speaker, the Russian pronunciation of foreign Opera singers is, excuse me for the word, horrible. Only a native speaker can understand if a pronunciation is good. Learning is not enough, pronunciation is the most difficult part to imitate correctly for languages that are phonetically very different from each other unless you have a very strong natural talent for it.
@@Chabtung thanks for saying that. Please say it more on reaction vids that mention his english bc i think many western reactors are stuck in a time warp and maybe subconsciously think english is superior to other languages. Its frustrating. But i really think the more we point out facts like this, it can help reactors rethink their approach.
@@shrekswife2164 Sure thing! Of course it doesn't mean that he shouldn't strive to improve as much as possible the pronunciation in the songs he performs, but it is very hard and he might never have perfect pronunciation. So? Lara's Russian doesn't sound better than his English.

Great reaction as always! I knew you’d take a little heat for mentioning his English diction lol. I think he did well considering he was learning new words in between performances in a talent show that didn’t allow a lot of time between performances. He also had perfectly placed emotions which shows he understood what he was singing.
Thanks for your comment. I don't mind the heat when it's appropriate. I am just surprised by some 'Dears' who are criticizing my honesty. I was simply reacting to what I heard in this video only. That's why it's called a live reaction. I am glad Dimash was able to do sing in so many different languages in a short time. However, I had hoped that my honesty in what I was hearing in this particular video, without doing research ahead of time to 'fake' a reaction, would be appreciated and understood. What kind of a reactor would I be if I said everything is wonderful all the time?? No one is perfect, but like Dimash we all strive to do the best we can by putting in many years of language diction study, at least in the classical world. I appreciate your support.
👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so much for coming back to Dimash! Great commentary on his singing skills! Regarding his English diction now: while it is true that in classical singing we are expected to learn the correct pronunciation of all the relevant languages, few opera singers sound fluent in languages foreign to them. Italian and German are actually the easiest ones because of their vowels. But I have yet to hear an English or American opera singer sing Carmen’s Habanera without a heavy accent. I understand them because I know the lyrics; otherwise they would be incomprehensible despite doing a great job on consonants. English is difficult, speaking from the point of view of a non-native speaker. English was then my fourth language. The problem comes from all the diphthongs as well as the fact that most vowels and vowel combinations can be pronounced many ways. Even when you think you’ve mastered it, the dreadful English language rears its ugly head to mock you because of all the accents, dialects and regional inflections. I speak English now quite fluently and actually teach it, but occasionally something slips out of my mouth that makes my kids roll over in laughter. So, in my eyes (or rather, my ears), Dimash did a great job here in Adagio. Not criticizing you...💕💕💕🌷🌷🌷, just saying.

@@maggiereneemusic Of course I know all your reactions to Dimash. What I like about your reactions is that while you are actually making technical comments, you have an emotional approach to the whole song. Although my ideal are reactions combining substantive and technical elements, showing the text in combination with the composition and the resulting implications for specific vocal solutions. Dimash seems to me the perfect "target" for such reactions. There is one Italian reactor that runs them this way (or actually ran them, because she dealt with it during the long quarantine in June). In Dimash, I was struck by (but also elevated) his intellect (yes, yes), his ability to invent all these stories and tell them through the choice of vocal means of expression. An absolute masterpiece in mathematical proof (in line with his mathematical approach to music - as I found in one of his interviews). For me, Dimash is an absolute "prototype" of this approach to music. At the same time there is something incredibly "primal" in that - in ancient times, music was taught as a part of mathematics. I found your reactions as a result of studying the recordings of the extremely informative master classes offered by The Juilliard School on UA-cam (which I reached indirectly through the channel of one of the opera singers, a great countertenor who participated in them in 2015/16) and my fascination Dimash. I am glad to visit you this way.
You should have done your homework and you would know that Dimash never learnt any English until this competition. You should also understand that English is not a phonetic language, where as your character/symbol based languages are. This rules out certain prefixes and suffixes, which are very hard for them to learn. Most English teachers do not even care to hone this skill, so call out his English teacher. Trust me, you could learn many foreign languages, and somebody is going to call you out for errors. Where I admire him, is that he tried. I know British people with Degrees that can't even pass a silly TEFL course, and clearly English is their primary language. Unfortunately China recruits them as lazy as they are to teach English. It is not just British people but others from various countries. Having taught English in China, I have first hand experience with the bad habits that are taught, and it really is difficult to unteach.
Thanks for your comment and I agree that singing in a foreign language is not easy as I have first hand experience with that. I hope you liked the other 6 video reactions on Dimash?

I think you stress the accent he has too much. I studied languages and speaking a half dozen of them... heard much worse singing in a non native language. it doesn't take his mastery away, nor the listening experience for all of us who don't care of his accent.
I'm a utterly compelled fan of Dimash. No other singer has put as much together as well as he does, at least in the various genres I've listened to day in and day out for 50+ years. I've many other favorites, but this singer is on another level over them all. However, contrary to a number of other repliers, I think his pronunciation is fair game. Yes, he's improved it a lot since 2017, but it's still a noticeable issue in more recent English releases such as Your Love and Across Endless Dimensions. His singing is so stupendous (and still getting better!) that it hardly matters; one is simply swept away with the emotional immediacy being projected, to the point where lyrics seem secondary. Indeed, picking just on pronunciation is almost a tribute to how good everything else is. but as you say, at the highest levels the standard even in pronunciation is very high, and it would be better if listeners could understand the words without having to find them written out.
Thank you for your lovely comment and I am glad you understood my reaction! I appreciate your support and yes, I agree that it takes a lot of guts and is difficult to sing in a foreign language.

@@petapetroula What does perfect pitch have to do with pronunciation?
Omg I thought he did wonderfully.... seriously good. I enjoyed his accent showing through. I understood every word. More importantly he communicated the emotions flawlessly.

Perfect English diction is not important for us non-English spoken people to enjoy Dimash’s incredible voice and unbelievable cuteness. 😁

Good to know. Thanks for the info! 😀

Next maybe Lara Fabian, Aida Garifullina and Dimash singing together in " Ti amo cosi"?

@@maggiereneemusic Be aware that this is a Dimash highlight. Especially for opera singers. No high notes. Dimash stays in operatic baritone register the whole song. But still there is so much to discover. One hint: Focus your ears on vibrato...
Dimash never hesitates at hard work, and those who work with him will attest to the fact that he is eager for it; he can never get enough of it. Every single day he trains for 3 hours plus all the rest of what he has to do--and does it so cheerfully and without complaint.

@@alvaropeneda339 and there are voice teachers/reactor who mentioned this, with way more accent, than Dimash s. I don't care, though English isn't my mother tongue, I can tell there are so many other singers, having an accent.

Peace.

you know what's fun? you know the song so I can see you kind of anticipating where Dimash might go, then when he doesn't because he's beyond where he should be, your expressions are Priceless because you understand how far beyond he actually goes. the beauty of Dimash is his randomness, his range allows him to do things most singers cannot and his instincts to do these things are what draws you in.

Yes, singing in a foreign language is difficult. Thank you for your lovely comment and for watching my video until the end. I appreciate it. 😁💖💙

Thanks for the info! .😀

Wonderful! Thank you for your lovely comment, info, and for watching my video until the end. I appreciate it. 😁💖💙
Here is a comment that may clarify my reaction for you from one of my fans:
Maggie Renee is a R E A C T O R!
Thank you for your lovely comment and for watching my video until the end. I appreciate it. 😁💖💙
I don't understand why some of his fans attack anyone who has something even slightly critical to say. I knew when she said something about his English that the comments would come for her. Give it a rest, people. She never said he was bad or that she didn't enjoy it.
Thank you for your lovely comment. I am glad you understood my reaction and I appreciate your support! 😀💖
You keep repeating his English When I am listening to music I don’t need to understand the language. ALIEN FEDERATION

Lol!😍

Once again Maggie, it was so good to hear your intelligent, insightful comments! Love from Scotland!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your lovely comment! 😍

Masterpiece vocal the voice from heaven really nothing compare nothinggggggg!!!!
😀

That's why we all work so hard at it, including Dimash. I had hoped that my honesty would be appreciated. What kind of a reactor would I be if I said everything is wonderful all the time??
