However long Deion stays there. BYU and Colorado could evolve into a great rivalry too. BYU v the Arizona schools rekindled. BYU and Utah Vs TCU. I’m happy with our Utah AD for making this move. 👍🏻
As an Arizona Alum, Basketball carries the athletic department in Tucson. Unfortunately it was the Pac-12 who tanked the conference. They couldnt get the TV deals done that the schools wanted. I dont think the schools in the PAC-12 (sans USC and UCLA) wanted to leave - the conference presented a garbage Apple TV deal where they needed something like 30 million subscribers before the schools would get a similar deal as the Big-12. This is a world where the financials needed to run a modern athletic department are significant. BTW ASU is a garbage school with a garbage AD.
If the conferences get big enough then, de facto, you almost return to the smaller regional conference model with east and west divisions or pods or whatever. You play nearly all of your games against the schools that are closest to you. Consider this. Georgia has never traveled to play Texas a&m yet Texas a&m joined the sec in 2012.
No ones getting kicked out of MW. Obviously San Jose St, Nevada and Hawaii are a no vote. That means they couldn’t afford to lose any other team. I think teams would be nervous to start that precedent of kicking people out.
I don't know where that comes from. I haven't head anything but praise for the BIG12 from the ASU administration. Certainly they regretted the PAC12 demise, but they had nothing against the BIG12.
I believe the SEC motto will be "Lets lock down our home and let them fight over the rest" once the ACC falls. That's means bringing in: FSU & Miami Clemson GT (gotta have ATL our "conference capital") Tobacco Rd (UNC, Duke, NCst., Wake) I think these 4 will try to stay together. And maybe swap Mizzou for Louisville or Wake & Louisville will fight for the last spot..... That's 24 and right now, it looks like 24 is the max number for a conference.
ND, FSU, Clemson, UNC, and Maybe Miami are going to the B1G to maximize their revenue for sports AND academics. Plus they have the best TV deal that provides the best exposure.
tough on smaller sports at these schools, They should change the names of the conference's none of it makes sense it's not about where you live anymore!
From 1992 until 2012, the Big 10 dodged playing a conference championship game, while the SEC was. A HUGE advantage for years. The popularity contest called AP polls would never take that into account. SEC doesn't have to answer to anyone regarding how many conference games are played. Half of the sec teams play 1 or two out of conference teams every year that are either annual rivals or top 25. Example, Florida - Florida St, Georgia, Georgia tech, SC and Clemson
@@gambinolansky I'm sure they will eventually make the move to extra conference games. Dictated by expansion and extra network money. Who knows. However, who cares. All the other conferences were afraid to even talk about having their top teams play each other at the end of the season. Never heard any SEC people gripe and wine about others not having that championship game. Look at Florida in the 90s. Had to play a top 5 ooc game with the Seminoles, turn around and play a conference championship game.
@@gambinolansky Michigan is a prime example of cream puff scheduling for years. First 5 games of the season were home games against the likes of directional schools. Would play 8 conference games, no conference championship game and hide from playing any real teams by playing in the Rose bowl. You know the Rose bowl, that banned the SEC from participating in the 1940s because they were dominating too much. Research it. The powers from the west hated seeing Alabama beating their prized teams. Mainly Southern Cal.
What was the PAC doing the past decades? There were no good teams. Let’s see Ohio State or USC go to Starkville. SEC has played the game better than anyone and the rest of the leagues are butt hurt they can’t win a championship. SEC will play 8 games until they are paid to play more.
This is so odd by Arizona St and Utah. They are crowing like they are some big brand and have all this clout when they don’t. Both Athletic Dept’s don’t do much outside of football and ASU doesn’t even do that well. Over the last 20yrs, WVU would have likely beat ASU 15 out of 20 times annually in football and it would be worse in basketball. Utah basically only offers football as a legit sport from the University while WVU even plays a good brand of baseball. This just is another weird case of these likely liberal minded schools refusing to understand facts and we all know liberals do not like the truth or facts.
I think I heard that only about 8% of baseball programs turn a profit of over 5 million dollars. This is very concerning for all sports other than football. Travel costs and less rivalry games will hurt how much money sports like baseball and basketball will make. Remember when college used to be about academics and when these schools actually cared about ALL of their sports?
P5 playing cupcakes is critical for a lot of those small schools to survive. EMU is willing to drive the 7 miles to Michigan stadium to get beat down for 750k because that’ll help the athletic budget for the Olympic sports. Eliminating that is going to destroy a lot of athletic programs
I can’t believe that he would insult WVA after ASU solicited and then agreed to join the Big 12. He should apologize or immediately withdraw from the Big 12. ASU is not exactly an esteemed academic or athletic conference. He should be building up the Big 12 and not dissing any of the Big 12 universities.

If they're so upset about going to the Big XII then leave the conference and let Oregon State and Washington State get in. Problem solved.
UTAH IS NOT COMPLAINING
AZ should have let ASU go to the Mt. West and taken Oregon st. Instead of the crying ASU
AZ ST shoulda been left to wander into the MWC.. Oregon State would have been far more appreciative..
The big 12 will go to four team pods with texas pod and Midwestern pod playing either east or west that will cut down on travel expenses.
2023 is my last year of watching college football. I have no interest in watching Washington play in the Big 10. It just isn't right. Bring back the Pac-10 vs Big 10 in the Rose Bowl on January 1st.👍
Funny to say all that after getting bailed out. Shouldve said it before the vote
All the utes fans i know are EXCITED about the big 12, Tcu, Ok state, houston, Ucf, cincy... Awesome fan bases and schools, most Ute fans arent the Higher than Thou loud mouths on social media, theyre just the loudest
This is how rivalries begin...
Anderson and Crow don't want to be held accountable for not playing up the level of our new conference, and thus more likely to lose their jobs if they do not perform. they are FINE with mediocrity and being 3rd place in a DEAD conference and games that are never televised when most of the ASU fanbase can watch the team. I for one am GLAD that this move was made and these people will be exposed for who and what they are! Anderson will be the first to go! then Crow himself if he doesn't right the ship, bravo Oregon and Washington for making the move ending any Grant of Rights talk that Crow was leading. As an ASU alum that was gut wrenching to hear, I am glad the wheels are turning and we can finally see ASU become a great program.
Didnt they say top 15 at best? At least strive to be the best even if theyd never make it. So yeah, youre right.
Funny but you realize Mike Crow is a Iowa State alumnus and a vet of the old Big 8.
Crowe is a clown show.
Basketball for several schools is in the green, but I agree with your points.
What’s the beef with West Virgnia?
As a person who goes to ASU, many people here are excited for the move the big12. The only people that I’m aware that don’t like it are the ad and the president
Why can't the NCAA increase the football schedule to 13 games, so all power 5 members can have their desired seven home games? As for the Big Ten, since I don't expect any ACC GOR to end anytime soon, I want B1G presidents to invite both Cal and Stanford, whether Fox likes it or not. Any ACC members can join the league later.
Basketball Season starts before the Football season ends.
Why, Morgantown is awesome. I love that place.
Kentucky fan here , I have respect for west virginia, their fan base is brutal in fb and bb!!! That makes it even better!! Don't be scared Arizona state!!! If you're that scared...cancel you're sports...I always knew the pac-12 teams were soft overall
Michael Crowe has a purdy mouf.
Transfer Portal open to switch to Oregon State, Washington State, Cal, Stanford. Stay local, west coast.
I am a native Angeleno and as a kid leaned more towards UCLA. Since they announced their departure to the Big 10 I have lost interest in the school. I will support Mountain West schools like San Diego State, UNLV, New Mexico, Fresno State, and Hawaii. At least they know their geography.
Utah is prideful on its academics which I can understand, that’s research money for our cancer center. No negative comments have come from the school on joining the big 12. Please stop sharing twitter extremism, unfortunately every fan base has some bad fans but as a whole we are excited. We have an incredible fan base and are very welcoming to competition.
UTAH IS NOT COMPLAINING
I think it’s dumb that research money for the medical school is associated with a sports conference anyway
Utah classy about this. As a split BYU/UU fan. This is so exciting. The holy war remains for good. Where it should be. Utah and Colorado w Deion will take on a bigger life I promise. However long Deion stays there. BYU and Colorado could evolve into a great rivalry too. BYU v the Arizona schools rekindled. BYU and Utah Vs TCU. I’m happy with our Utah AD for making this move. 👍🏻
I got news for ASU with LA gone travel to OR and WA was farther than TX and OK.
MIAMI IS A SEC SCHOOL
The Big 10 is very interested in them as well; they are now an AAU university. Florida might not want them either.
I'm still get used to Nebraska being the Big 10+.
Is it too late to let Oregon. State in , instead of ASU. Oregon state actually wanted to come to Big12
Let's not burn them at the stake yet. It was just tasteless humor as I heard it. But be careful you don't get pushed off the boat.
Seems weird but you are the only one doing this story in-depth and consistently. Good job!
He's definitely not the only one doing this story in depth.
He is not doing this story in-depth.
The only one? He just repeats what others report. 😂
It’s extremely weird
The only one with red hair that's reporting it.
That comment is the PAC in a nutshell.....DELUSIONAL
No ones getting kicked out of MW. Obviously San Jose St, Nevada and Hawaii are a no vote. That means they couldn’t afford to lose any other team. I think teams would be nervous to start that precedent of kicking people out.
I don't know where that comes from. I haven't head anything but praise for the BIG12 from the ASU administration. Certainly they regretted the PAC12 demise, but they had nothing against the BIG12.
I believe the SEC motto will be "Lets lock down our home and let them fight over the rest" once the ACC falls.
That's means bringing in:
FSU & Miami
Clemson
GT (gotta have ATL our "conference capital")
Tobacco Rd (UNC, Duke, NCst., Wake) I think these 4 will try to stay together.
@@roris5882 ND definitely.
FSU, Clemson not a chance.
UNC & Miami possibly.....but I doubt it.
tough on smaller sports at these schools,
They should change the names of the conference's none of it makes sense it's not about where you live anymore!
Oh man!! Hopefully the first game ASU has is in Morgantown
I say make it night game in November in Morgantown. If you've ever been there during a big night game you know what I'm talking about.
😂😂 them boyz wouldn’t know what to do in that snow ❄️
The SEC could expand to 20 teams and still only schedule 8 conference games every year.
The B1G could expand to 30 teams, and still it will only be Ohio State winning a natty once every 15 years.
It could be that Yormark outmaneuvers the ACC and puts the Big 12 into the top 3rd conference.
This crappin on Utah stuff is just as ridiculous as the Jason Aldean fake controversy.
Arizona St? They have a football team?
Probably worse for football. The expenses associated are great her than the revenues generated.
I dont know I think football brings in a bolt load of money. They'll be fine.@@JK-vc7ie
ASU fan base is thrilled with the move to the BIG12…we are much less thrilled with Ray Anderson.
It took less time than I suspected for the new additions to start tearing down the Big12.
Sounds like ASU needs a new AD.
SEC has three, four cupcake games a year, not all just the top teams sec..
Time to fire any AD like the one at ASU!
Muh mental health! I got to do softball in Orlando! I have the vay-puhs!!!
Non revenue sports just need to branch out into their own conference.
ASU need to keep its mouth shut! They are mad that they cannot go to California and recruit anymore in Football(Their Bread and Butter).....
Umm....Whaaat? Doesn't make sense.
Is that why ASU football sucks?
@@tmurph247 Ummm....wasn't West Viginia's record last year not so good..? Ummm.......lol.....well....hmmm....
What a mess. Greed over $$$ is just blowing up everything. To heck with history, rivalries, geography, student athlete well-being, fans…all irrelevant. Just a complete disaster.
Miami was applying for AAU status for the Big Ten. They will get an invite and they will go. They're culture isn't any different from Ohio State so culture isn't an issue
