People go on strike and when the deal is put forward, some don't bother to read it and they vote blind, and then start moaning. The cwu put the agreement forward but we don't have to accept it. Vote No
Been a Postie for 33 years and told our management last year that the rounds were too big and they didn't believe what i was trying to say, so i asked for a coach or someone to come out and time the job on foot.......needless to say I'm still waiting.
Why are you spending money on these ridiculous vanity projects asking the questions you already know the answers too? WHY don’t you start trying to do something about it?! This union is more interested in PR and ridiculous podcasts than it is making actual change on the floors of DO’s the length and breadth of the country. I’ve never known an employer that hates its employees as much as RM does. Treated like dirt why inept, manipulative managers get paid a large sum for shafting there workforce. Where targeting your workers is rewarded with bonuses. Why don’t you start challenging the employer on what is happening, instead of going round filming posties telling you how bad it is? That’s about as much use as a chocolate fire guard if you don’t do something about it, wouldn’t you agree?
totally agree with every word you said! " I’ve never known an employer that hates its employees as much as RM does. Treated like dirt, why inept, manipulative managers get paid a large sum for shafting their workforce." This is exactly what I feel, it's HATE towards us, and I am 100 percent sure, this is because we were courageous enough to strike.
An interesting vid . I took retirement at 61 after 38 yrs service solely because i could no longer do the job , i'm coming up 64 now and MY GOD i'm glad i went . How you poor front line troops cope is beyond me . When i joined in 84 it was a job for life , you started at either 4.30am and finished at 12.30 or started at 5.00 am and finished at 1pm . You were home for your young family ....like i was , collecting kids from school , spending time as a family .........what is it now ......DRUDGE....DRUDGE......BLOODY DRUDGE .
@@neilwilkinson7488 Back in the 90s our union reps warned us that the job would become a 9 to 5 one and that would be the beginning of the end .............how right they were .
Siso killed the business...... every change that had come via privatisation has been a disaster. We actually spend more time indoors than outdoors now. They keep trying to reinvent the wheel and wonder why nothing runs smoothly. We used trains before planes and could get the work out early.... bring back early starts and finishes, get rid of siso and if they want all these parcels done everyday, then make walks smaller, employ more staff and watch the offices get clear and bring back some semblance of quality to service.
The beauty of this job when i started in 98 was that you finished earlier and that meant decent family/ friends time. As full time working parents every bit of free time is precious and now we just get a sunday to spend together because we now work later. Deliveries keep getting bigger and add that less and less family time all for just a fraction above minimum wage. Yet when we turn up to work it is there. Tbf our manager has done his best to mitigate the change but sometimes it is still not enough. This job needs to be more than heading towards evri and amazon wannabes
Walks were made bigger and longer because of the supposedly drop in mail volumes but we didn't have the volume of packets to deal with at that time now my line manager seems to think that my high capacity trolley is a Tardis this is the worst Christmas I have ever seen mail is coming in later and later cos its getting caught up in the motorway traffic staff morale isn't very good just now nearly 35 years service and never felt so low and if the union ever want us to vote for strike action again then you can forget about it 2022 was a complete disaster
I work in an office on the edge of a town. Travelling in by car is the only option for 90 percent of the staff and since the arrival of the electric vans and installation of electric vans in the car park, there is nowhere for us to park at the office. People are getting to work early 30/40 minutes before their start time to get one of the few parking bays. It’s silly. I will no longer work past my time as the later finish times put me in school traffic and it’s a nightmare getting home. Today I had 3 trays of walk sort and 75 tracked, On a rural delivery and it’s not even Xmas pressure yet!
All the point in this video are so true and important. The job worked so much better when the walks were smaller .and I say that because back then we didn’t have the amount of sick also all the walks went out.they don’t now and that’s all down to the bad management we’ve had over the last ten plus years.
That is why they are managers because it is either that or leave. They have either been delivery staff and thought sod this its not possible or been told it is easier to be management. Easy option.
I don't want to watch videos telling us what every post person knows. All I see is us getting treated like dirt every single day and the Union let it happen. I've lost faith in CWU and we all know the Royal Mail don't care about delivery workers. The atmosphere in our DO is awful and I can only see it getting worse
“How in the hell could a person enjoy being awakened at 6:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?”
3.30min: apply for a duty structure using the Family Friendly policy; this is something that the office is not obliged to provide, but they can do and CWU can push it at local level. Same goes for those with children needing care/collection. As far as later arrival of mail, this is on Royal Mail to make it work (uphold USO, etc). Local reps in offices should keep detailed notes of failures (such as whole walks) and can be presented possibly at a later date.
Let's not forget CWU. You guys are the ones who recommend we agree to this. The network change is fucking shite.
People go on strike and when the deal is put forward, some don't bother to read it and they vote blind, and then start moaning.
The cwu put the agreement forward but we don't have to accept it.
Vote No
Work-life balance is non existent now, all I do is work and sleep.
Let’s just keep making jobs bigger and fuck are bodies up,I have been a postman for 21 years and it’s broken beyond repair
The walks are completely unachievable in many offices 😢
The network changes have been a disaster for the workforce

The walks are far too big. Make the walks smaller, make more walks and employ more staff.
If only some, organization perhaps? Could help this sort of idea get up off the floor? Wouldn't that be great.
Bang on, then quality improves , happy customers, company makes more money
We usually have about four and a half hours to do a six hour workload.

Staff turnover is crazy now... why would anyone want to work till 5pm or later , doing a hard physical job for just over minimum wage . ...

Never had work life balance. Can't go out Saturday night, too tired. Can't go out Sunday night, working Monday.

I work permanent nights hardly get any sleep only see my family Saturday and Sunday and I’m so tired it’s no quality time

Almost everyone in our office takes vans home .

Agreed. I can image sickness is gonna be a massive issue in the run up to Xmas. In our office they are still asking us to lapse and take extra!
Maybe Management should try it for a few weeks see what it's like . CWU reps have easy duties there the ones who wanted us to vote yes .
2 cheeks of the same arse!

Later starts and later finishes is the end for royalmail , businesses want there post and parcels in morning not llate afternoon.

Have you sold your hotel yet. Maybe you can disperse the money amongst your members who lost thousands of pounds striking only to not get sick pay...
