I know what I’m saying and am in full awareness of the reach of my words when I say: This is probably one of the most beautiful and yet experimental and progressive pieces of sonic waves ever crafted. It is Ambient and chill out and at the same time it has a jazzy feeling . The usage of old technology is a blessing , this has so much more depth than everything else yello created when the went digital. One of the most beautiful moments is when the old ARP synths come in for some bars- the same Fusion and Prog used extensively. The playful samples, all very likely recorded on their own on Journeys in a time before huge accessible sound Banks are used like jazz solos while the big string pads and the rhythm do their lounge part( very likely all hand played - the usage of real drums due to lack of rhythm computers on the first two yello albums is so so cool and important !) ..
Thx for ur inside look Funny enough the first four albums are still ja fav ones. Maybe pocket universe might ge t that high, Bu t Thi s ja dorthin fo r je like Boris' Revenge in techno
Zebonaut, love everything you say. I understand that they plan a new album, I just wish Boris would venture back to these natural free flowing worlds with the pre-digital equipment. Everything nowadays sounds too smooth & clinical.
@@TheRealYTIAN Wow, we have the same taste.. exactly, from the later albums Pocket Universe is the only one i relly like as much as the first four. Yello is best where it was experimental, where Carlos was still involved, and where Boris is more prominet- and Pocket Universe is almost a Boris solo album. After Stella it became mostly the Dieter-jibbering-either-cool-statements-or-balladesque-stuff-over jazzy latino electro-formula. Sadly a bit tiresome. I wish they would dare to go uncommercial again.
First heard this on the Ralph Records double LP sampler. It was a wonderful pallet cleanser admidst the MX-80 Sound and Residents, this was my first Yellow song. Thanks for the upload!
T5Culture Yep, not always as chilled. Have their entire discography on vinyl as well as Klause Shultz, Jean Michel Jarre, etc. ( I'm old okay ) also like the more surreal side of the era Can, Gong, Amon Dull II.
As am I. Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Otarion, Klangwelt, Syndromeda and many others decorate my cd collection. I used to have a complete vinyl set of Tangerine Dream up to Le Park, but then switched to CD
Wow...really? Hm, could be.. but..nah. It sounds like "Stop" but not "calling". But while we´re at it: has anyone ever translated the first speech of the old man in the beginning?
My old pal Freery introduced me to Yello ; the best music I have ever heard , thanks mate RIP
This has been a salve for me since it was released. I have it in my playlist. Long Live Boris and Dieter.
Excellent song (one of Yello's best!) and a perfect video! I think it fits perfectly with the song's mood.

Completely agree. This song came to me when I got clean off heroin. I was like 2 days sober. It blew my mind. Still so beautiful and unique.

But while we´re at it: has anyone ever translated the first speech of the old man in the beginning?
