- Pin Trading and Eating with other Disney Pin Trading vloggers/friends! Such a fun day..but I came across some awkward situations with the CMs who are manning the pin boards 👀 There are other situations I’ve run into, especially recently..has anyone else experienced any?

Such a fun trip! And yes, it’s unfortunate but some cast members are keeping good pins. I was at a pin board and the girl in front of me put on a nice Eeyore pin. It was an interactive pin, believe the tail was a spinner. I was next and was going to grab that pin. The cast member tried to take it off without me seeing and she was speaking Spanish to another cast member who said “guárdelo”, which means to keep it. They didn’t know that I also speak/understand Spanish. So I acted like I didn’t hear them and said “I’ll take the Eeyore pin she just put down”. They had to give it to me and then muttered something like they were upset I asked for the pin they wanted to keep. I totally understand cast members wanting to collect pins, but it should be done when they are off duty.
I agree when they’re on the clock they shouldn’t be snagging pins! Really also wish they posted official rules near all the boards especially about leaving authentic pins

Yes! It's happening. It's coming to light by guests more and more now. Some cast members are totally taking off any/all legit "GOOD" pins that get placed on the board and (hiding/ or keeping them). It makes me so mad and also leaves nothing good to trade out on the boards.
Yes it’s very upsetting esp with boards being 99% fakes it’s already hard finding authentics. CMs need to wait until they’re off the clock
It's so upsetting to know cast members may be swiping the good pins from the board as there are already so many boo-boos on the boards 😔 Breaks my heart when guest trade authentic pins for fakes. The 100 pin was a good find. Keep up the great content 😊
Right it’s upsetting knowing that you trade authentics worth a good amount of money for a 99 cent fake pin..
When I worked at Disney World I would take a pin I liked, but I always put a “good” one in that pin’s place. It was usually just one I didn’t want/collect. That was when Disney World had cast member lanyards though and we had our own. I’d go to the parks and trade on my personal lanyard and then put the good pins on my work lanyard.
I am glad you showed the bad boards. Lately that is all I find and I see people find great pins. Then I feel like I am doing something wrong and keep asking how come I am not finding the great pins they do but seeing you find the the same as I do thanks for showing us what you found. Sorry for you
Thanks for watching! Yes I always debate showing footage of all the booboo pin boards but I want to show people the reality that most of the boards are pretty bad 😞
When I was a cast member, I would buy pins (from the shops) and sometimes trade mine with guests on the lanyard because we didn't have good selections. Normally I always got traded the same pins (starter pins from starter packs). In 2003 they didn't have really any fakes yet. We didn't have mystery pins either, so it was just regular pins, or starter pins from the packs or lanyard packs. But I would leave pins I bought in my pocket and trade out with pins guests switched on my lanyard so I would have different pins. the rule back then was you couldn't have two of the same two pins on your lanyard, so if a guest gave you one you already had, you had to talk to your supervisor and get a new pin, so that was another reason to have some extra pins in my pocket. A few times, I did keep a few pins guests put on my lanyard and traded with mine (real pins), but I didn't do it often. Also broken pins coudn't go back into rotation, so if a pin was damaged in some way, we would trade it out for another.
if the cast members are swiping the decent pins that's pretty worrying. It's hard enough as it is to find the good stuff!

When I was at Disney last week, I had at least 3 cast members take my pins off the board. I was very disheartened, because I wanted other traders to get good trades.
Oh no way! That’s so horrible 😞😞 I would if asked “oh why aren’t you leaving them on the board?” I’m curious what they’d say

Love your videos! If the cm’s are pocketing the pins and not trading back that’s stealing from Disney and grounds for being fired. This video and others that show cm’s being sketchy with pins should be shared to Disney for sure
Thanks for watching! Yea there’s so many other times where something sketchy happened but I wasn’t able to get it on video. Couple months ago a CM with pins specifically asked for certain pins to trade and I was like “um isn’t that my decision?”

About 2 weeks ago, a CM told me that she wouldn’t trade a pin on her lanyard - she said it upfront at the beginning as I was perusing the board (and hadn’t noticed her lanyard yet). I actually spoke to her for a while, and she later said that she was saving the pin for a specific child. But I was still surprised, because it seems to violate the generally accepted rules of pin trading at DLR and WDW. (Now, Disneyland Paris is completely a different beast - they’ll reject your pins for many reasons. But that’s stated upfront as a general policy throughout, so I think it’s OK.)
Honestly I wonder what would happen if Disneyland had the same rules as Disneyland paris..🤔 I wish they put the rules near the boards esp in regards to only trading real authentic pins.
As an update, I was at DLR yesterday, and this happened again! The guest in front of me traded a good pin, which I saw. I thought the CM was making that pin a mystery pin. I answered the trivia question - she was nice about it and gave me multiple chances to get the right answer - and then when she revealed the hidden pins in her satchel, the prior pin wasn’t included. I saw her, I believe, put the good pin in the drawer and when I asked for it, she said no. I was floored. I filed a complaint at guest services. It seems silly to be bent out of shape about a cheap piece of tin, but there’s something about a CM actually ruining the experience which seems like the antithesis of “Disney magic.”

Yeah, that was a bit sketchy with the Disney100 pin; glad you were able to snag it. To me, not all of the pins I saw appeared to be fakes and scrappers, but the ones that weren’t seemed to be fairly common and not really sought after.
That said, I traded some not-very-common pins onto the boards at DTD a couple weeks ago and they actually remained long enough that I spotted them in another PinTuber’s recent video! They moved from Downtown Disney onto Main Street! If they are still circulating the next time I visit DTD, that would be a gas!
Yes some boards had the popsicle pins that were real but I already have those. But that’s so cool to hear about your pin making it’s way around!😊 thanks for watching
I've seen cms take the good pins off the boards too. I like to think they put them back sporadically but idk 😬
I’ve seen too many scenarios not caught on camera where I’m like 🤔🤨🧐 but you’re right, benefit of the doubt 😂💖

I dont know if this is a old rule coming to light or a new rule all together but I heard trading a dated pin aka the epcot 2004 pin for example is breaching pin trading rules. One of the pin trading bloggers ( I forgot who) posted the "rules of pin trading" in one of their videos and one of the rules basically stated that name pins and dated pins are equivilanet and shall not be traded. Hopefully the CM was just checking to confirm if they can accept it and not swiping the boards for their own benefit. Plus dated pins are drastically different than personalized name pins from back in the day . I would've loved to have found that pin since my birth year is literally 2004. And it wouldn't make any sense since we see 2023 pins on the board 24/7
If the dates pins aren’t allowed not sure why they’d sell dated pins in the parks lol! I read the official rules here at this link and it doesn’t mention anything about dates. Super interesting though, thanks for sharing 😊

I was a cast member who did lots of pin trading back in 2003 and 2004, and I had dated pins I traded at the parks with guests. I never heard of that rule, but I worked at Magic Kingdom, maybe Epcot was different. I got my favorite pin off a trade from a guest which was 1999 (the year I had graduated high school). I was so excited. They knew I was going to keep it when they traded it on my lanyard, but I had extra pins in my pocket (we really didn't have fake pins back in 2003) so it was easier to trade. Maybe though, they can't have older dated pins on the boards anymore because they not updated to this time period. I would love to find that out.

There should be traders there every day 😊 although it also depends on the time. Usually there’s traders there around 10am-6p
