Sorry, I can't help with this as it sounds strange, wifi should not affect screen flicker!! Pls search mini iPad wifi flickering screen or contact your nearest apple store :)
Thanks for your help Joe, worked first time. Not entirely sure why it started to do this in the first place, but it had not been used for a couple of weeks. Perhaps it had discharged the battery to a certain level ?? The other symptom was that the screen would not automatically invert when the ipad was viewed vertically or horizontally. Nevertheless, you solution cured both problems!! Cheers :¬ )
