Hi Russ, really loved the vlog ❤ all the museums were fantastic especially Baxter Springs ❤ enjoyed seeing the Will Rogers Marker 👍 Hey Russ I was listening to your diesel idling on one of our stops, she sounds really good, purring like a kitten ‼️ Safe travels 👋from your friends in Mississippi ‼️
Drinking a hot cup of joe while watching this episode and trying to stay cool in a dark room on a rather hot/muggy day. No a.c. here. I've read that hot coffee actually cool you down. I'd have one anyway. Cool museums - wow. That would take me hours to go through. Enjoy the rain there. It's still hot out west. Safe travels! Cheers. 👍
A great day on the road despite the weather. Museums are always a good option on rainy days (or when it's hot, for that matter). That huge collection of "stuff" in Afton is fantastic! I've got my fingers crossed that we get to see the Blue Whale of Catoosa in the next video. Until then, happy trails!
Thanks for sharing. My mother's family moved to Baxter Springs when she was 3 months old and was raised there. The town was a stop for cattle drives back in the day and the coal mining was going strong. There is a giant electric mining shovel nearby that your van could easily drive into the shovel. The land still shows the markings from it's use leaving ponds for water in the area. There is a small free camping area in Baxter Springs along side the river, just before you get to the bridge leaving town going east. I do know that you were going to Oklahoma, but it was close by.
Cool video! I never knew that Will Rogers passed away in a plane crash. Wow! Interesting info. Greetings from soggy central Florida, getting ready to be soggier on Wednesday. Everyone stay safe.
Russ, those Fushia pink flowering bushes you saw in Vinita, OK are called Crepe Myrtles. We have loads of them here in Slapout, Alabama. Thought you might like to know. Sure do enjoy traveling with you from the comfort of my home. Stay safe...
Great video sir I used to sell tools to Pearl Brothers hardware in Joplin Missouri up til 2017...sad to see it all boarded up and out of business! Then on up to the true value store in Galena KS. Be safe friend!
Just before you get to Galena, there is a mountain from the leftover debris of the Joplin Tornado. Also, you should have continued south to Shumerhorn Park and Shoal Creek. There is the creek, a cave, springs, hiking trails, and a museum.
That sounds really cool to see & go to if one can!!! Oh the places I'd love to go; that's what I love about UA-cam - I can 'travel' vicariously through others.
Hi Russ, I've probably all your videos, straining to find ones I haven't seen. I do have one request, being a huge rail fan, could you try and show a bit more of the trains when you see them at crossings etc. Especially the engines if you can catch them. I'm always hoping that you will show a bit more of the trains when they are passing or by you.. This video had quite a few and I was hoping to see a bit more of them... LOVE YOUR VIDEOS from back in the day with Scoobs and the camper to today.. your just fantastic.. Thanks and please keep it going!!!!
Just had to share, just watched this video. You are in my home town of Baxter Springs Ks. It was cool watching this video. I like watching your videos of your travels and pretty cool you came thru my little town. 🙂. What month did you travel thru in the video?
I see all the old buildings in these small towns, then I think of all the people now gone who lived their lives in those buildings. If the walls could only talk.
It seems like your whole Route 66 trip has been gray and gloomy. And hot and humid. Is that typical for summer? The land is slightly changing as you travel west. I've never been anywhere near there as we are from the coastal Pacific Northwest. Thanks for being a good sport through all these long driving days. Not much time for e-biking and strolls outside. Maybe stick to the mountains of the west next summer.
Hey Russ, I've always wondered where you are from originally? You have no 'accent' to my ears, so from somewhere in the Midwest? Btw, I live in Galesburg IL (1/2 south of the Quad Cities & 1/2 hr NE of Peoria, right at the right angle turn of I74) & I grew up in SE Iowa & went to college in NE MO, so have really enjoyed this series!
Any day is a great day riding along with RVerTV, Russ, rain, or not,Yea 👍
Joplin always reminds me of the devastating F5 tornado. I'm glad to see this town recovered well and it's blossoming so pretty :3
That was a gem of a museum in Baxter Springs!

Rain is part of the adventure. Love rain!
This is interesting, I'm from Kansas, but never been that way. Thank you 😊.

I'd guess first part of Sept. as i haven't seen any rain systems come through the SW Mo area since then.
I see all the old buildings in these small towns, then I think of all the people now gone who lived their lives in those buildings. If the walls could only talk.
Howdy Russ! Hope all is well!
I wonder what rain looked like. I hadn’t seen any all summer herein Goodyear, AZ.

Russ you might want to watch the movie Car's it is heavily influenced by Route 66
You've not seen the animated move "Cars" have you? 😂
I distinctly get the impression that he hasn't lol, but we didn't all have kids or grandkids around as an excuse to watch it!
Still 112 in arizona take your time lol
