What a fantastic series. Thanks for providing this.
It's so fascinating to consider where the "pattern-recognition" which is used in the phone number recognition example is "stored" in the human brain. You're trying to reproduce in a machine the skill which a human does so easily. But, in a brain, what is it? Where is it?

Such an impactful book , with many hidden gems for DS. Not a beginner book / course however - start their other book, get some hands on experience and come back periodically

Can you help me in something, please?
How should I study this book?
Should I memorize everything and anything?
This is the first time for me for studying like this book.

@@CSL-vj3lx no need to memorize anything, just read it and try to understand what's going on conceptually, and do the exercises.
      Hope it helps.
      Cheers

If the email has 'Un-Subscribe' it need not necessarily be spam. Automated tools will be used by IT Companies to share various requirements to the job seekers. Individual can unsubscribe if he/she doesn't like to receive emails. And spamming changing every day.

The course on the website is going to be removed in a couple of weeks - does anyone know if these videos will be staying on this channel? It's such a helpful resource and I'd hate to lose it as I only found the online course a couple of weeks ago, so haven't had time to complete all the sessions yet.

Feel free to download them with a download tool like youtube-dl.
`youtube-dl -x -f best `. You can add other flags for metadata and what not. Always archive to an optical media that will last longer than your average SSD/HDD.

I assume its this one: www.amazon.com/Introduction-Statistical-Learning-Applications-Statistics/dp/1461471370
They co-wrote two famous books, the one listed above and "The Elements of Statistical Learning"

Great! - are they using the term Statistical Learning as synonimous? or a statistical view point of machine learning? what do you think? (see this paper for further discussion: Statistical Modeling: The Two Cultures - Leo Breiman)

    • @711Myself

Enough for what? To get an overall idea of statistical learning? Yes. To master the content and get hands on experience? No (It's like saying you can learn how to swim by watching a video.)
