Been preaching about the need to fire Scott. So many players that have been and are unmotivated by Scott and is seen by the bone head decisions he’s made. Let Manny Acta take over, he’s been a manager before and might help get these guys motivated. Time for Scott to walk the plank.
I still don't understand this criticism and I really don't like Servais at all. Yes Garver has been awful and dealing with the personal stuff but that doesn't outweigh how horrible Raley has been against lefties. A .790 vs .490 OPS is an absolute no brainer, go to Garver every time. Again that is not a .100 difference in OPS but .300.
Also damning to Servais is Cal's comments after the game that they haven't been as focused and motivated this series after the PHilliees series. That's on your manager.
And of course Scott disagreed with them the next day when asked about it, I"m sorry between guys like Raleigh, Gilbert, Kirby leaving or Scott, easy choice. Dude has had 9 years along with Jerry, Pete Carroll was "let go" despite only missing playoffs once or twice, the players I'm sure are tired of seeing the same song and dance from these turds.
Contracts are up after this year. Jerry & Scott perhaps better show some desire to win more than 54%…just sayin. In what other business can you succeed 54% of the time and keep your job? Hot seats
I moved to Northern CA for work from 2002-2010. Watched all of the Mariners and Seahawks I could but I also ended up watching a lot of 9'ers and Gaints and went to a handful of Giants and A's games. I became a bit of a 9'er fan in that I paid attention to them weekly but Seattle was still my #1. And the 9'ers kinda sucked then. Erickson, Nolan and Singletary coaching but it's what was available. Granted, I never bought any gear 🤣
Last 40 games Houston- 25-15 LA - 21-19 Oakland- 20-20 Texas- 19-21 Seattle- 15-25 If this were the beginning of the season, Servais would be fired with the pitching and hitters (career avg.) this team has. This season is over without a change at the top. I hope they prove me wrong
I agree with a manager change but who are you going to bring in, and what about Jerry Depoto's comments last year about the 54% ? I think Jerry wants to win but his boss has a different opinion on what wining is . But back to Scott, who's out there that you could bring in that can improve the teams performance, baseball is in a period where there are no great managers , there are no Lasorda's, no Davey Johnson's, Jim leyland or Sparky Anderson's and certainly no Dick Williams, or Walter Alston's. Something has to change otherwise Cal Raleigh and others will move on so they can win , my guess is Cal will end up in Los Angeles or New York possibly Boston his agent is Scott Boras.
You can't put in your closer who has battled an injury all season every close game. It's not that shocking that a manager doesn't use a closer DOWN by one run. You need him fresh when you are ahead. THAT IS WHAT MOST MANAGERS DO!!!!!! It's not THAT unusual. Munoz is already overused. Save him for saves or tie games. You can't be putting in your closer every game you are down by one run. This team is ALWAYS in these type of games. You will burn him out. Mike Blowers the next day agreed with me. Blowers was a MLB player and knows more than we do. No reason to blame this on Servais.
"Ride the 1 or 2 hot guys"... that's the issue all year. Each player on the roster has had a hot few weeks here and there but not consistently and not enough at the same time. Dylan Moore was great in May. Polanco has been good July/August. Cal has been the most consistent producer, which is kind of sad considering he is hitting .220 but it's been timely hitting and won us some game. Rojas started off super hot. Raley has had a few series here and there where he has mashed it. Even Hannigar had a few promising weeks but they just can't keep it consistent and keep it together. The only one who has really had no streak of any kind at all is Garver. In August, they have just been horrible in general. .201 team average... pathetic.
