That UP was really moving
That's awesome to see in person and be able to flim it
UP must have trackage rights on this line.
Yes, they have trackage rights for around 6 trains per day. They've cut back of late and I think only their Global 4/City of Industry intermodals (Z-CIG4 and Z-G4CI) are scheduled daily now.
That train was booking …what’s the hurry?
It is a highest-priority intermodal train. On this busy transcontinental line they can go 70 mph.
@@PaulCashman hi Paul it is a shame that in the US they still insist in using wooden sleepers as at high speeds ( above 50 mph ) these become unstable and often just collapse, where as in other countries concrete sleepers are the norm plus continuous length rail and even here in Perth W Australia our metro EMUs often travel over 100 mph on this kind of system and our haulage trains ofter travel between 80-110mph all on concrete sleepers most of the train smashes in the continental US have been due to wooden sleepers being badly maintained and in most cases have just collapsed due stress
@@TicTacToe3511 the U.S. uses concete ties on its high-speed lines and many heavy-rail commuter lines. If the U.S. was the small size of a typical European country then it might make sense to replace wooden ties, but we have 140,000 miles of track in service. No other country even comes close.
Does the ZG4MQ come on this line as well or the ZMQG4!?
Not that I remember, at least not lately. UP used to run more dailies here, though.
@@Nipalalalala17726 hmm, I'm not sure. They may have rerouted them. Even pre-COVID they dropped non-intermodals from this route. AFAIK the only UP trains remaining on BNSF's southern transcon -- at least here -- are the Z-CIG4 and the matching Z-G4CI: City of Industry CA to/from Global 4 Yard in IL.
Trains do not race each other.
Why does everybody insist that they're racing?
To railfans, it's called a "race" when two trains are running parallel, and a "meet" when they approach from opposite directions.
.....
Not sounding horns for your fun.., they’re want you to get the F back..
Hmm, not likely in this case; the crews on the Marceline Subdivision were aware of the Rail Days gathering and almost always gave us a horn-salute that weekend, whether there were 2 people on the platform or 20+.
But thanks for your input.
What a cool train this one was to see. Down on the West end of the platform we all thought the manifest was going to continue up. Nope! Stopped him right before the crossing. Still one of the coolest moments of the weekend.
