Fenriz is by far the most knowledgeable musician and personality in the Norwegian music scene by far. His fun 'clowny' demeanor and thinking, combined with the fact that he seemingly seems to have lived the life the way he wanted to, and got to make the art he wanted to, makes him a very cool individual! The world is losing people I'd like to drink with, Fenriz sill here banging it out! RIP LEMMY!!

I love how he had to take a break and the interviewer was like yeah we can wrap it up and fenris said or did something nonchalantly and interviewer said oh do you want me to get you a beer and fenriz said if you insist! 🤣 He is a true viking force you into asking him if he wants some brew

I think by this point people just ask about Darkthrone live gigs to hear Fenriz' ridiculous answers

I have this little theory that Fenriz , being the bright guy he´s ever been , is actually building expectations higher and higher and higher each and every year ... according to my " theory " it will not be longer before Darkthrone announces some " Aristocratic retirement " huge festival dates .

@@saraivatoledo1842 they've lost millions by not doing live gigs since the early 90s. It wouldnt be very bright. He legitimately just isn't into it and makes enough from royalties and merch to live comfortably

Actually the story in the beginning, first of all it’s pronounced KNIVEN, like EVEN, but with a K-sound first, then an N-sound, that’s kind of funny why do you English-speaking people even have that K there if you’re not gonna say it, hahaha, but anyway, Dan, the owner of Revolver, another bar in Oslo, caught a guy tagging the wall of a shop he owned and upon confronting him he was stabbed with a knife (that’s “kniv” in Norwegian, Kniven is “The Knife”), and his artery was cut and he almost died, and the police later caught the guy, and he had to pay Dan something like 20.000 $ (not completely sure about the amount), and Dan thought he could use those money to make something positive out of the whole incident, so he decided to open a metal bar and name it Kniven, since the money actually came from that knife incident. I’m kind of surprised that Fenriz doesn’t say this here, as it is pretty well known, and Fenriz was hired as “musical advisor” as well as DJ from the very beginning. Anyway, that’s the best metal bar in Oslo for sure, it’s moved to a different location now (in the same building as Revolver). To describe the music policy Fenriz came up with the slogan “From Seeds To Sarcofago”. I was actually the first person to DJ there, before Fenriz even, hahaha. Kind of sad that he stopped DJing, but I think he was tired of people not paying attention to the music and only being interested in talking loudly over it. Sindre from Obliteration used to be bar manager. OJ from Aura Noir used to work in the bar. Still the best metal hangout in Oslo in 2021. People like Czral and Vicotnik DJ there regularly.

fenriz didn't fuck up Black Metal, varg did when he killed Euronymous. how is it supposed to evolve when the man who created it & his vision for what it was supposed to b was killed & replaced with whatever Black Metal is now. the music that comes from the genre is good sounding but the feel that Euronymous was talking about & creating doesn't fully seem to b there ne more.

What else could it have been? Early second wave hit the nail on the head so to speak....now we have kids in their grandparents farm house doing noise performance art and doom metal with gutteral hog vocals sounds like a 50 yr old swine rapping into a mic...the bands who do black metal right now out of the hundreds promoted every day are hit and miss when it comes to the ones that felt legit back in the day, those people were all in all just talented musicians for just picking up an instrument and coming up with a good sound with no prior involvement in music at best was a magical little bubble in "history"

They were young when they decided to never tour. It was a sort of a juvenile elitist attitude, as other BM bands were getting commercial and BM music was changing. DT and other early BM bands claim the same argument against Death Metal's transformation [as some kind of character weakness of such bands], but the argument holds no ground. Now, they almost cannot back out of the anti-tour stance, since it would make them seem [to critics] almost more "false," "not true" to their cause than if they just toured from the start. If they toured through the years, none of this would be an issue.

Shows how little you know. Fenriz and Ted both dont like to travel, dont like the pressure and business of playing live, and want to keep the magic of music alive by not playing stuff 100000x live. This info is easily available.
Read before you shout random stuff

I don't need the info. I bought Blaze when it came out at 19. All info, on youtube videos or wherever you get your social media info, is way after the fact. Everything, that came out then, were zines. Then current info to what I wrote above, not 30 years later info. DT explained it all 30 years ago. They had no problem being young and juvenile. It's not a fault, don't defend them. Tell me, what is a zine anyway, who wrote them, how did you get them, what kind of paper were they written on, was it hand or typewriter? How did anyone get one? How much or were they free? When did they start? Which genre of metal did they begin with? I think your sentiments are good, but you are way behind it all. Decades. it's not an issue.
