Excellent. Reference to Pt. Ravi Shankar with the raga is important. The Swagatham at the inaugural ceremony of Asiad Games 1982 was composed by Panditji. Khamaj thaat as Nishad is komal. Madhyam is omitted. Mukundji has sung well.
Bhava of Janasammohini does not appear to be Anandadayak. To me it sounds that of longing. The Rishabh does this. Example are two songs. Koi sagar dil ko bahalata nahi and Haye re woh din kyo na aye.

The mood of this Raga has been described (at 5.16- 5.18) as "Anand- dayi" or "pleasant". We tend to ascribe mood to ragas, but I completely disagree with it. The mood depends entirely the way it is sung or played. In singing, the wordings too play an important part Let us take the example of "Haye re woh din kyun na aye" from film Anuradha, based on Janasammohini, and composed by Late Pandit Ravishankar, who was instrumental in popularising this Raga. I am sure that no one will call the mood in this song as "Pleasing". The wordings used and the tune definitely make it "Melancholic". There is a pathos in the song, as the singer yearns far the days bygone and the listener's cries his heart out for her in sympathy. In this program itself, several shades of the mood have been presented. I wonder why we still insist on ascribing a particular mood to every Raga?
Why the mood of the raag Jansanmohini is described as pleasing here is the very melancholic sensetion one receive, the pathos one experience on hearing the composition gives the listener the feeling of justifying the nature of the situation by the contribution of the artist and his team which arise the sense of completeness and fulness that is decided to be mentiioned.
THESE VIDEOS OUGHT TO BE ONE HOUR IN DURATION SO THAT ALL RELEVANT DETAILS ARE PROVIDED SUCH AS SWAR SANGATHEES, RAAG ANG,ILLUSTRATIVE NOTES AND SWAR VISTAARS WHICH WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL TO NEW STUDENTS. PROVIDING just the aroh, avaroh and pakads IS NOT ENOUGH-WE NEED THE VISTAARS TO BE DETAILED AND COMPREHENSIVE.

Vijay jee is excellent as usual. But what is the use of this white elephant called Dr. Nandita Date, she is there only to propagate Mlench bhasha Urdu even though her mother tongue is Marathi. She thinks she is doing something great.
