      J.G. Conumdrum +1 this 100%. AWD, active lane assist and safety, adaptive cruise control, electric power sliding side doors, 10 speed transmission, auto start stop. Seems like you would have to be pretty hard headed to not wait! Patience is a virtue.

      Between all the manufacturers reviews and price point, this model is on top on my list. I realized that I would never get everything I want on any model that is available now, so I would have to compromise.
      Warranty length still a concern though

      Yes this is a good choice of a van, I would select the two beds side by side so this would work and has a decent cargo capacity.

    What an excellent review, Neil, well done! The analysis was spot on, and the video/ audio quality was very good, and the camera work was exactly right, we got to see everything. Could not be improved.
    The engine/measurement specs were much appreciated. Something that most people gloss over. Very helpful to see the comparison chart, esp comparing Transit 350 to the Eco Boost.
    What is the fascination with induction cooktops? Its nice that Coachmen gives you an option with a gas cooktop.
    Love the large fridge! Very few Class B RV makers put in a decent fridge. This is critical for those who like to cook ahead of time and have a good supply of food when traveling, already cooked. The compression fridge is way better than absorption fridge, as they cool better, are less finicky, and do not require the RV to be on level ground. On the downside, you need more battery power, but this is improving year by year.
    The entire power grid system is deficient however, and they have cut corners here. I agree with you on the shortage of battery power to run that large fridge, including very low solar setup.
    A second alternator would cost less than $200 retail. Would eliminate need for more solar panels.
    Solar panels Monocrystalline EFT Flex 100 watts runs $126 approx at retail.
    A 2000 Watt True Sine Inverter from Samlex (best brand) is $724 on Amazon at retail. Minus the cost of the factory version at 1000W would run you about $400 more.
    LiOn Batteries 100 Amp Hours are $350 from China, or $949 USA x 6 = $6000 max at retail.
    Totals are: $200 + $126 + $400 + $6000 = $6726.
    How in the heck does Coachmen come up with $22,000 for these upgrades?
    These are retail prices, not wholesale, so you can cut this in half at $4000 cost for Coachmen.
    Its not much extra labor to mount one solar panel to existing setup, and a few extra batteries, except for alternator at lets say $500 labor max.
    Their profit margins are $17,500? Are we dealing with Crooksmen or Coachmen?
    Good point about 3-point seat belts. Why cut corners on safety?
    I think they could have done a better job on the bed layout and had a decent garage underneath like all the DIY RV'ers do, and Euro RVs have. Raise bed, add storage underneath for bulk items. Make the small seats for passenger travel. Thanks for a great review!

      Mine will be used as a Daily Driver, so it will get regular exercise, even in Winter.
      As for camping, I'll just need to make sure the coach is always heated (when temps require it) as I'll have filled water tanks/plumbing then.

    My dings are the small black tank capacity, and the paltry 200 watts of available solar. They should look at offering a composting toilet, which would also allow for almost double the gray water capacity, (a knife valve between the two tanks). They also need to figure out how to get 400 watts of solar on the roof, along with a 3,000 watt inverter and a two burner induction cooktop. I agree with your pointing out the need for better lighting, positive locking drawer pulls, and a residential faucet. I really like the platform, the upgraded suspension, the 3.5 Eco Boost option, the available lithium package with the extra alternator, the compressor fridge, and that kick ass 12 volt AC.

    Regarding the interior height... I'm tall and typically don't fit in class B's with under 6'3" so i was surprised when i tested this coach. It actually has MORE interior head room, it felt like 6'6" (similar to what the paseo's is). It was very pleasant surprise. This has been my favorite class b we've looked at yet. As neil said, i just wish it had a longer warranty, but if you can't get it for a good price, 7 year extended warranty from the dealership should 'only' set you back about $3k with a $100 deductible. Great video Neil, thank you!

    Nice review Neil. They should consider expanding the bath room area , appears to have the room and if possible a small window. Agree with your assessment on build QLTY, however it should be noted they seem to be addressing this. Some units already have a much nicer sink, same as their sprinter model. Thanks again

    Hi Neil...love your no-nonsense & logical/practical approach to RV reviews. Hope my question isn't out of context: My wife & I have watched a plethora of videos trying to narrow the RV field and the pendulum has swung completely from left to right and back again; the luxury and livability of Class A & 5th Wheel to the drivability/maneuverability of Vans . It wasn't until we defined how and WHY we were going to vacation/travel into our "re-purposed" chapter of life that we were able to narrow the field to B+ or Class C equivalent. We have reviewed many of your B+ videos and from there have narrowed the type of floor plan that would work for us. Would you have a recommendation of a comparison of a slightly (and I mean only "slightly") larger than say the LTV series, but yet still maneuverable Class C? Maybe some of your following would have some advice.... thanks everyone...I know that research is key, but we're getting anxious (and also tired) to making a final decision.....retirement date is looming.

    Dove tail drawers, very nice looking interior, great ccc, good fresh tank size, nice open layout, powerful engine option, nice but too expensive Li option. All good stuff. But you are concerned about build quality? What specifically worried you? You did not mention anything specific regarding build quality, so it was quite a surprise to hear that at the end. If I were in the market for a nice B, at around 100k, this should be near the top.

I'm grateful that it's almost 4 season ready. and could be improved by tank heaters and water line insulation. But it's not in eco-diesel, and thin on garage space.

    Hi Neil, I just saw the Coachmen Beyond 22RB (rear bath) at the show in Pleasanton which looks stellar and outdoes the equivalent Winnebago model, IMO. The 'only' downside I could see is they've retained those pant-snagging handles on all the cabinetry; I suspect those would be easy to change out. I do hope you'll be able to create one of your excellent reviews for this model!

    I like the Ford chassis.i like cabinets. But I would prefer one or both options of seating chairs convert to bed left and right instead of strait back or leave it way it is and build larger bathroom. Another idea around 4season conversation of protect plumbing in winter is offer maybe offer woodburn or gas type stove for winter travel (small one give off lots of heat) or if that's not possible alleviate stove add more space for bathroom and seating area and if any extra space place a table instead of kitchen sink and stove. Overall I love this vehicle great eye level features and windows are doable.! Thank you for your time.

I wanted to ask if you had any plans to review custom van shops that build class B vans. I understand the ease of access to review the more well known companies. It'd be wonderful to get your perspective on companies like Outside Van, Glamper Van, Van Life Customs, etc. I'm finding prices comparable and wondering if more people would benefit from considering these options as well when getting into the RV lifestyle. Hey, as always great review - I love watching your reviews. I did not hear you talk about the heater on this one. Is it the Truma Combi like what used to be on the CrossFit? I really like the idea of having the electric heat option and being able to use the gas generator to drive the power so as to not need to be constantly looking for propane stations in the winter. There don't seem to be any Class B vans that have gasoline heaters. I know they make diesel heaters, but most vans are gas it seems. I'm looking for a "4 season" to the extent that the water lines and water tank are inside. I wonder if the lithium upgrade forces the water tank underneath - if that is the case there goes the 4 seasons unless it can be insulated and heated. Thoughts??

Love the ginormous bathroom and the very powerful eco boost! But we have decided to trade it in on a 2020 beyond 22c eb li3 ! Yep we bought at Tampa rv show and picking it up end of February. Not crazy about the small bathroom and no exhaust vent. Gonna miss the Paseo big time. But with the lithium and the 12 volt a/c I think we will deal with the small bath . Hopefully we have an awning that works and a bike rack we can use. 🤪. Our bike rack was pulling the door panels out a lil too much for me to be comfortable .

    Generator and campground with electric service will charge batteries. I would add more battery and solar because we rarely ever camp with plug ins . Love the fridge. Probably take a small butane stove instead of using the induction if generator use is not doable due to campground rules or too rude to the neighbors.

    The Crossfit is the top mass produced class B simply for the value that it offers. It's certainly not the highest in build quality, but you can't have it all at this price! And it offers a few features that are rare in the class B segment, things like a large lithium battery, compressor fridge, quality cabinetry, good insulation, etc. I really don't think it can be beat for the price. Even with the optional Li3 system and other expensive options, the price is very competitive. Considering the top end price point of around $115k, this is the best 'entry-level' class B available right now, in my opinion.

    Well presented. Odd to try and remember the summer before COVID-19. If only we had known what was coming. My guess is 2022 pricing is at least 30% higher and the supply is 40% less.

    Looks cool. I like the Galleria 24a better. The only thing I don't like about the Galleria is the bathroom size. That's why I like the travato 59gl floorplan but good review as always.

    Thank you for the revue. Glad to hear that the Ford Transit 350 chassis is still in the running. Except for the availability of service, the Transit 350 is an outstanding base for a class B.

    Your reviews area improving and more informing. I might be critical of the build value versus price. Freeze point is critical as the payments run 4 seasons or $1,500 monthly when it can't even be stored in a ready to go status.

    Hi Neil, For the 2020 PW Ascent, I’ve noticed that the dealers have not opted for solar panels. Can PW add them after I purchase the RV. I’d like to have PW responsible for any holes or mishaps. Any suggestions?

    You can easily add wireless overhead dimmable LED lights that can be controlled with a phone app or switch.

    I agree, the main draw of this class B is the Transit chassis. I don't want to deal with modern diesel. But I still can't think of a motorhome that I love unreservedly. They all seem somewhat questionable qualitywise. I expect more for something over 100k

    In the end everything comes down to cost....I liked it better when you reviewed this coach the first time when it was the crossfit. I think for the money this is an excellent coach. Here are the pros of this coach that you get, that way way more expensive coaches dont give you. The ecoboost engine gives you more power and torque than the MB and it is a gas engine not diesel.....the fact that its a Ford saves you thousands at the time of sale and everytime you service it for maintance or REPAIRS!!!!!.....A major Pro is the OCCC.....this is a deal breaker for most other coaches......The 22 ft length makes it asscessable to park anywhere including your driveway....try doing that with Eras, Airstreams, LTV, PW.....the cops and neighbors will be visiting you with complaints....the 12 volt AC is 20000 btu and most vans ac units are 11000 .....the insulation upgrade and the suspension upgrades make this coach superior to most coaches....that is if driving and cooling and warming the coach are important to you.....I understand that the bed comfort may not be the best....but that is an easy fix with toppers or sleeing bags....this is a couples coach....two people...it is very adequate...if the draws fixtures bother you then please pay 30,40,50 thousand more for a coach that uses stick framing in its cabinets....In the end this coach drives as good or better....can carry more.. keep cooler or warmer...and looks as good as way more expensive models........I agree that the one year warrenty is baffling.....but I look at it this way....the components are quality (Truma summo xantrex etc)..The cabinets are industry best...there are no slides....the construction and insulation are superior....the wiring is multiplex.....im sure something will go wrong...but it will also happen in 150-200 thousand dollar van.....thx

    Pretty nice layout. I agree that the cabinet handles can be problematic, esp maneuvering in such a tight space. I would prefer locking marine type closures; those cabinets could come open while traveling. My preference is to be able to open the back doors and exit. Love the induction cooktop option - wish other manufacturers would offer it. The bed doesn’t look comfy. I dont care for the shower in the front or the tiny shower.

    Oh those handles. This is not the only manufacturer using them to give the coach a modern look. I love modern, but those handles grab everything! Pants, pantloops, purse straps, dog collars, phone cords... the list is endless. There are other modern handles that don't stick out like that and I hope manufacturers move to those. Or, as you said, a flush positive locking mechanism even better for a Class B.
    This will not be my choice, but I'm more and more determined that I will go Ford, either Transit or E350/E450 depending on the kind of unit I get.

    • @Ultramobility
      @Ultramobility  5 років тому +2

      right? the handles! the handles! what was coachmen thinking??

    • @vicalzip
      @vicalzip 5 років тому +2

      @@Ultramobility I've looked at so many videos I can't remember who has what but there's at least one other coach manufacturer using them. Winnebago maybe?? It's funny, I just did a massive home remodel a couple of years ago and I first wanted those handles. It was my contractor who warned me, "no, you do not want those!" And a house is far more space than an RV.

    Great review Neil! I love everything about this coach until you get to the warranty. I just DO NOT understand such a weak warranty on a $100,000 dollar vehicle. They need to catch up with the other companies that have longer warranties. I would definitely get the lithium system as the lead acid system is just plain weak. I love the air conditioning unit that was on the unit you reviewed. One thing that did not get covered was the Multiplex wiring....I think it is by Firefly which seems to be a popular system. If they would just up their warranty I would give this coach a serious look.

    • @Ultramobility
      @Ultramobility  5 років тому +2

      thank you so much. yep i didn't mention that power plus package which upgrades the inverter to 2k and puts in multiplex wiring. they just really need to move to multiplex wiring as standard. not sure why they make it an optional package.

    • @Primogen1
      @Primogen1 5 років тому

      @@Ultramobility It is interesting as far as the choices a manufacturer will make option wise. Multiplex is an option? That's odd because it has such nice benefits over not having it.

    I love how on the cargo capacity list that shows the net cargo capacity the driver's weight is estimated at 160 ( I'm sure they are assuming a male driver while the average male weighs a bit more then 160 , lol) and then the passenger weight at 130 ( I'm sure they are assuming the passenger is a female and the average female weight is slightly above 130, lol). Think that chart could and should be reconfigured based on the realistic average weights , 😉
