    Meet Brunswick! I am beyond thrilled to be starting my next conversion, and feel very lucky to be able to be doing so in such a big van!! Brunswick is a 2018 Ram Promaster HIGH ROOF (!!!) 136" wheelbase. I have so many plans flying around my head about how I want to design this tiny home, but I am keeping one thing at the forefront through it all: comfort! I am going to be designing this build with comfort in mind for both Teller and myself, and that starts with keeping Tilly cool during these hot summer months. A big thank you to ZeroBreeze for sending me a Mark II to try out and incorporate into this build. It is going to play a HUGE role in keeping Teller safe and comfy in this van.

    Fans next to vents for a/c always help push the cold air further. I ve been doing that since I was in sticks and bricks.

    Hi! I have a zero breeze also. I just wanted to mention that the force and impact of the cooling air will decrease considerably once you start to reroute it with additional venting. Also if the output of air has to travel any significant distance, a huge portion of the air force is lost, and the cool air won’t reach your fur baby the same. I am currently trying to experiment with different ways to counter this. I hope what I was trying to say came out right. I wish you all the best with the new build and I really look forward to seeing your creativity in it.

      Just an idea from the HVAC world - use a fan along the route to boost the air flow. In this case, a 4" computer fan would be perfect - minimal power draw, easy to wire with a switch, and easy to find/replace.

    After seeing a windy rain storm rip some shingles off a neighbor's roof vent ( because the wind was forcing the rain to go SIDEWAYS instead of down, you might want to add a little "roof" or something to protect the outside vent holes somehow.

    Hi, those vent caps look fine. You just need to locate the unit higher than the holes so if any water does find it's way into the hoses, then it will just drain back out and not enter the machine. Make sure that you tape the connections so water can't escape into the inside of the van. Be careful to install the inlet and outlet directed away from each other to avoid a short circuit of the warm outflow into the cold air intake. It's a good idea to use hoses that are smooth on the inside so the air can flow better. Love the videos.

      @@milomeloy seconding, i have a similar AC (two hose model) and it wasn't a big deal. maybe make sure there's an insect-proof screen as well as the vent flaps? and have the exhaust come out as much higher than the intake as possible.
      really exciting to be able to watch the new van taking shape! have you considered an external awning to shelter the doors from rain? maybe even something simple like a tarp stretched between the top of the two back doors, idk

  • @DougOrDouglas
    @DougOrDouglas Рік тому +1

    make a hole at the bottom of the van to for the ac instead of the side, just use a water proof mesh to keep water from coming in like what they wrap around custom car intakes

    I admire the depth of intentionality that you have put into deciding your goal/priority for this new build, naming it accordingly as a tangible reminder (tangible = written in your wonder-filled journal), and then selecting a fitting van model to create this new comforting and comfortable home for the both of you. That look of pure joy on your face at the beginning of this video sparked a glow in my heart. Thanks for that!

    If you had made the A/C houses point down (as they run from the unit to the outside), then any water that did get in would have just run right back out again. You can also double-stack those vents to block train in two stages, as long as that doesn't impede air flow too much.

      Great observation as the warm air coming out might mix intervertanly with the cool intake,thus decreasing the efficiency of the unit.

    • @milomeloy
      @milomeloy  Рік тому +8

      I thought the same thing when I first received the unit! But after looking into it further, I kept seeing warnings about creating negative pressure inside. Here's what ZeroBreeze mentions on their FAQ about this topic:
      "The unit does not draw air from the outside to be used inside the space. It draws air from the outside to cool the condenser of the a/c system and then exhausts the same air back outside. The inside air is recirculated through the front evaporator side.
      If the intake hose is put inside, cooled air will be sucked in and wasted on cooling the condenser. As cooled air is constantly exhausted outside, it’ll create negative pressure and draw hot air into the air conditioned area."

    I have the 136” wheelbase and I love it. I have a portable AC for my bedroom, but that one you have looks like a game-changer! Personally, I run my intake and output hoses to the outside… that way there’s no air pressure “drag” on the machine. I look forward to seeing your results… happy travels!

  • @MyVanHaven
    @MyVanHaven Рік тому +1

    I don't know if you've already started drilling, but one suggestion I have for the A/C is to try and separate the exhaust and intake hoses as far from each other as possible. I've seen a lot of people talk about A/C units like this struggling to make any cool air when all the air it was sucking in was hot exhaust fumes cos it was right next to it which also makes the space smell. That could also be bad if that sucked in exhaust is being concentrated straight into Teller's tiny little bedroom inside the van. Could have bad results health wise for you both. Other than that, I'm looking forward to seeing your new design!
