    Here's part 2 of this case mod: • Finishing the InWin 30...
    This mod took me quite a bit of time, and included some things I've never tried before. The PSU shroud backlit decal is one of the things, and I was able to power it by attaching the LED strip to a series of adapters and then to the PSU. The fan LEDs on the front are controlled by a physical controller instead of software, so I was able to make them red to match the theme without actually having a PC built inside yet. I do suggest buying these fans by the way, they're awesome. At the end you can see me struggling with the fan hole alignment, but it ended up being an easy fix. Figuring out how to fix mistakes is good experience so I'm alright with making one now and then.

    Fun fact PC Modding came about from guys modding there PC cases to fit radiators so they could better cool there hardware and get better performance as we're now it's more artistic and aesthetic reasons than performance. Cool Mod, you're getting better and better with each build.

    I have to say if you buy your RGB/RGBW LED kits separately and often from China they are way cheaper. We are talking 16.5 feet for like $5-$10. And the RGB/RGBW controller with remote is usually $2-$5. All depends if you want to just go RGB or RGBW. You can use 22AWG wire to chain the strips or its even easier to buy the 4 wire/5 wire RGB/RGBW bulk bundles.
    Buy some cheap Male Sata adapters like $1 and snip off the other connector whatever it is. Then solder the RGB into the 12V and Grnd cables. Useful just to get rid of using the Molex PSU cables.
    And once you make your own cables you can even fabricate a connector for the GPU fan power plug to get power to the LED's if you want to include some nice RGB magic on your custom black plates and dont feel like hiding cables. Its easier if you don't make a splitter but it voids warranties so worth the hassle.

    • @DIYTechTube
      @DIYTechTube  7 років тому

      +JimmysTheBestCop I definitely do need to learn how to do this stuff, everything here is useful. If you don't mind, is there a more detailed guide somewhere on the internet for the GPU power plug trick? Message me on Instagram or something so I can pick your brain a bit more :)

    • @JimmysTheBestCop
      @JimmysTheBestCop 7 років тому

      I haven't seen a guide of course I also haven't looked haha. BUt you can buy something like this
      www.moddiy.com/products/Mini-4%252dPin-GPU-%28Female%29-to-Mini-4%252dPin-GPU-%28Male%29-%7B47%7D-4%252dPin-Fan-%28Male%29-Cable-Splitter.html
      Then you can custom chop the cables to get it to the length you need. We've taken old male/female headers off of old worthless cards. Some gpus are 5 pins but moddiy has them as well. Not sure if they just sell the male/female headers
      I'm sure something can be rigged off of the 6/8 pin pcie connector and funneled through the card to the backplate. Now that I have never tried. But it perhaps is the easiest. pcei connectors are pretty cheap and easy to find. You would probably just need to slip in a 22awg wire to the 12v and grnd wires on the pcie plug.

    Excellent work! I seem very interested in the openings in the front for my IN WIN 301 that arrives today (good timing). Is it possible to do that without taking taking everything apart?? any tips on stencils and painting location? I wanted to mangapodge my PC case but the finish was terrible because my only options was to paint on newspaper on grass, bark or dirt in my backyard... can you please give me some educated tips on how I can spray like a pro...

    • @DIYTechTube
      @DIYTechTube  7 років тому

      Haha dude I'm definitely not a great painter. But, I guess my best tip would be to take it slow. Many light coats, let it dry for 24+ hours, clear coat it.

    • @Yami_Industries
      @Yami_Industries 7 років тому

      Dietec how long should I wait between coats? also I only have 3 different places to choose from because I don't want to over spray and hit something I don't want painted like tile, concrete walls, etc. so would panting on top of dirt with newspaper or plywood on top be good for painting? I don't want dust or dirt to get into my finish but, can't paint in a garage...

    • @DIYTechTube
      @DIYTechTube  7 років тому +1

      Recoat times are different depending on what paint you use. For the paint I use, I only wait like a minute or two between thin coats. I do like 3 or 4 thin coats and then a clear coat. I only wait a minute or two before I apply the clear coat as well. It doesn't matter what you spray on top of, you just have to sand the factory finish off then wipe all dust off with water. Wait a few minutes for it to dry first and make sure there's no wind blowing anything onto your paint job. I guess you'd just have to wait for a not windy day

    This is insane, I watched your painting videos randomly with the intention of painting a new 301 case, then google 301 mods and find this one. Sub'd man, this is some good stuff.

    You just smashed the whole idea of that case, really hurts to see you destroy art. Its became really ugly.

    this is so cool! im about to mod my first case and also cut out holes in the front for fans. can someone please tell me what the rubber strips he is putting on the holes at the 7:00 mark? This would make the cutouts look much better, thanks!

    Great mod, looks amazing! I have an Inwin 303 I wanted to mod similarly as well. especially the dual front 120mm fans. I like how yours turned out so I'll give mine a shot later this year.

    Over all I like it, but the area around the in win logo inside the case looks pretty bad. It could have just used some sanding to made it look better.

    Nice case ..almost went with one of these due to the lack of itx ryzen boards . InWin has upped its game and nice to see someone take the time to dress it up whilst everyone else is loading 8 different sw pkg to control a legion of led products then shoving in a AIO (now they lite up too)..
    Curious what you would do on Lian Li aluminium case like the PC-A05FNB or its silver sister PC-A05FNA .
    If you do get into some aluminum case modding ..their exist some nice 'hole punches' for aluminum that will make a clean cut with out distorting the case .. I don't know what they are called exactly

      +Jim Cash Hey nothing wrong with super flashy computers! But building the stuff yourself will always be cooler than buying prefab parts and throwing them together. I'm not too sure what I'd do with aluminum but I do prefer working on metal cases over plastic ones, perhaps one day I'll get my hands on one of those cases and see what happens. And I do need to learn about tools that make things easier, I'm getting pretty invested in modding now so anything that makes me more efficient is great. I will look into the hole punch tools

    Do you make any mod to mount the Power Supply?, because in the website of In-Win the max Power Supply size is 160mm and yours is 180mm.
