I picked one of these up last spring. It must have not been real popular since you can still find new old stock out there, but I think it's a gem. It's my first Gibson, and I really only bought it because it was an outrageous price that I knew I could easily make my money back on, and probably a lot more if I held on to it for a little while. But in the end, I'm not selling it. It's become my #1 despite having been a Fender guy my whole life. In fact, I think a lot of Fender guys would really like the feel of this guitar.
I got that model last year and love it. It wouldn't stay in tune at first, but after I got it set-up it's been great. I also play mine through a Vox AC-15.
did you mention if it had the PCB? i just got a Tribute new 2021 the other day and it has the circuit board. The Standards didnt have the configurations though, tuners, and color(natural.) And 490 hand wired pick ups. I guess $1199 Tribute will pay off some way.
It has! The guitar market has really seen a spike. These can still be found for $900-$1,000 but the average price has gone up. The natural brown tend to be lower than the cherry. Still worth it in my opinion, but it's not too far off from how much you could snag an older SG Standard for.

I agree! It's definitely an underrated model that I think more players should try to get their hands on.
Beauty of an SG!
Thanks! I love it.

Been looking at these but, unfortunately, the price has really shot up in the past year. Bummer.
