I love the rockbouncers as much as the next guy but every time I watch a video with Ultra4s I am baffled. They are just so perfectly geared and the suspension absorbs anything you throw at it. Amazing machines.
Shannon Campbell's ultra4 sounds AMAZING! The ultra4 buggys look like dirt bikes going over the whoops, the way they go up the hill. They don't even fall into the holes on the hill. GREAT JOB ON THE VIDEO ONCE AGAIN!!!!
MadRam11 I believe the more common it becomes on the race track the more the common person will try to immolate. In time parts will become more accessible and cheaper like Baja style suspensions. The Ford Raptor for example.
@@MadRam11 not necessarily, a recourceful builder could create a proper ifs and irs buggy for about 50k, now that car is definitely worth well over 100k
The Ultra 4s really kind of made the bouncers look bad. They were consistently better than them through the creek and banking into the creek bed to get up the hill, and then they even climbed better. I'm really impressed!
Wonder when the "bouncers" will get tired of bouncing and start tuning their suspensions? Less horse power, smaller tires and perfectly tuned suspension laid the smack down! That's awesome. Great vids as always!!
Another great video! I'm partial to the bouncers because I grew up in GA & TN but now that I live in AZ, the Ultras are the way to go. Plus they can easily be made street legal out here.
Seems like suspension is the trick if you have horsepower. Even tires that don't seem much more aggressive than a/t street tires work pretty well. Great job filming.
IFS is king for keeping tires in contact with the terrain. The travel of one tire does not affect the movement of the tire on the other side and is the reason why the buggies tend to stay more level and in control at high speed.
Also, Shannon Campbell is so good... He totally misses the turn but was still able to fly up the obstacle AND turn himself almost 90* at the same time.
Those independent front end buggies are awesome. They seem to perform way better than the solid axle. Is this something new? Why have I never seen them rock climbing before? Thanx for a supper vid.
My observation as well. It appears on this type of obstacle the long travel of the front IRS is keeping the front end from bouncing back off the incline of the rock allowing the real live axle to do its work. Or to put it more succinctly the front IRS is keeping the vehicle from losing it's forward momentum.
The Ultra 4's are built for high speed desert racing and rock crawling together in one sport. Check out king of the hammers. Shannon n the Monster energy car is an amazing combo. That car is a beast.
Some of the ultra 4 trucks seemed to take that climb so much easier. I'm not sure of the exact set up when it comes to the engine and everything for all the buggies across the board, but I know the ultra 4 ones all have sway bars and I'm sure the others do not.
Right away at the beginning you can see the problem the rock bouncers face. It seems that to retain their ability to "bounce" of you will, they give up suspension travel and ride over bumps. I'm sure in the right situation a bouncer might have an advantage, but being that it seems the ultra4 trucks win more I think the bounce may be more of a novelty...
Nope... buncha greenies.... Might bend a bumper on a tree!!! Funny thing, ohv's and people usually lose the battle. The tree, rock or obstacle has been there hundreds, maybe thousands of years and they probably will be there in another hundred or thousand years.... I guess to each their own. It takes a combination of both extremes to meet at a reasonable mid ground to both protect and sustain, and support industry. I'm going with the extreme moto!!! Cheers!!!
There really isn't any way to argue with the fact that the ultra fours gliding up the hill is after than someone that can't take there ducking foot out of it.
_"Nomen est omen."_ The name says it all: rock *bouncer.* The wheels should be tracking the ground to deliver the power of the engine to it and not bounce.
Tennessee, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Georgia, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, etc. They are everywhere. It’s just in the south and Arizona and stuff there is one in nearly every county
Chaz Michael I mean. Do you expect me to put links up about events in your area?? They are around you. It’s not my fault if you’re too damn dumb to know your own back yard
The ultra4 are build by pro team. Using the ifs and the right gearing also smaller tire 37 if not 40's to reduce weight the bouncer is the other way build for brute strength and pure power making it heavier but more powerfull

Agreed, several of them really have the suspension working good. Tim's new buggy seems to do well there though
yeah they just put a lot more time into tuning there suspension and other things.
there also smarter drivers
I think having IFS helps too. Would be interesting to see if some of the rock bouncers changed to IFS and what difference it would make

I just fell in love with whatever kind of racing this is. Driving with absolutely no reguard to your vehicle or any surrounding objects.
Dakota Ortiz if there’s one person that statement describes best it’s Shannon Campbell
This is the stuff I like to see!!! Awesome vid
What was the reason for round 2?
Thanks man, they combined both times to get the winner.
What an amazing demonstration of power, engineering, and driver talent!
Been told for years you can't do this kind of thing in an ifs rig. Love to see the progression of the sport and show ifs non believers
ardell smith These IFS rigs aren't your normal IFS, most of these IFS buggies cost well over 150k dollars

Ultra4's are really dialed in. Great video!
them ultras are no joke, but they all got balls of steel
m
The bouncers are really fun to watch but those IFS buggies just dominate!
Greg Hollon the bouncers won the event
I like Ultra 4 as much as the next guy. But a course like this one has rock bouncer written all over it. And the rock bouncers won.
8:18 good of bobby to let richie use screamin blue, love the sport and great video coverage of it keep it up man rock bouncing is going to the top
The Ultra 4s really kind of made the bouncers look bad. They were consistently better than them through the creek and banking into the creek bed to get up the hill, and then they even climbed better. I'm really impressed!
Love the ultras setup
Man those Ultra4s are sick
love the ones that turn an go who needs a rollback to find the line just gas it............... nice work as always!!!!!!!
Sweet video. Non stop action for sure. How you like that camera in low light? works pretty good huh?
Pretty happy with it, low light is pretty good for sure

Ultra 4's kicked butt. That IFS worked great for them, less bounce.
I would like to see a rematch, both classes have come a long way in technology.
I like the full event vids like this. Great work and keep it up
I expected Timmy to win this. Do you know what place he got here?
Dan Gamble Thanks glad you enjoyed it. I can't remember I think he came in like 4th or something maybe 5th
How long make you al video's (your video's are awesome)
Great vid man!
Amazing sport. Thanks for posting :-)
IFS FTW
What was the top rock bouncer time and fastest ultra4?
Those ultra4 cars are pretty wild!
Seems like suspension is the trick if you have horsepower. Even tires that don't seem much more aggressive than a/t street tires work pretty well. Great job filming.
Ultra 4 whats the difference ? Like them more than the rockcrawlers
what kind of lights does the first guy have? Those seem to light up pretty well
ULTRA 4 all the way...more suspension, less tire. Smart drivers also it might seem.
where is this i would like to come a see it live
Another AWESOME vid!

Hell yeah!!..
DAMN... ultra4 kickin butt..
Shannon Cambell was easily the most entertaining from my perspective. Fucking BEAST mode.
Also, Shannon Campbell is so good... He totally misses the turn but was still able to fly up the obstacle AND turn himself almost 90* at the same time.
Фт сам ылр.
Ultra 4: Better suspension.
Rock bouncer: A tube benders fantasy come true!
So .. Are the ultra 4 from the west coast and the bouncers from the east ??
yeah pretty much
Ultra 4 suspensions are unreal. Shannon's rig is legit.
those Ultra 4s trounced the rock bouncers.
+Trent Nelson yeah in this video they did, but the rock bouncers beat them on there home turf at the backdoor shootout at KOH
+MadRam11 where's that video?
+MadRam11 one fucking time and he beat him by less that a second.
long travel 4x4 ifs for the win!!
I am loving the hill climb and all the dirt flying thanks for the fun watching
At 06:52, its a ultra4, correct ? At 07:15 a rock bouncer, correct ?
Thanks. Luís.
+Luís Costa yes you are correct
are the ultra4's putting as much hp to the ground as the rock bouncers?
No. They usually just run LS motors. They still kill the rock bouncers to.
sweet! vid looked great for that lighting. much better than bamajam.
thanks, got a new camera that is a lot better for the nighttime stuff
MadRam11 who´s driving the ultra4 at 0:10? and were is there?. nice videos
you guys are NUCKING FUTS!!! hats off to all

It's not the sway bars so much as the tuning on the shocks.
How many of these guys can run or walk this course at a brisk pace on foot without signing a waiver ?
what you talking about?
I am seriously impressed with the IFS on those ultra4 rigs. I'm sure they a shitload of money into them though.
yeah crazy money, around 40k just for the ifs setup not counting the rest of the buggy
Holy $shit, get the F out of the way @ 6:13! I totally agree with rekjavicxxx, this is the stuff we all like to see!
And people laugh when I say I’m building an IFS & IRS setup. Those IFS showed out
Those Ultra4s make it look easy
The Ultra4 rigs make it look so easy.
gbean I agree, they are badass
Hhhhjjuiookkljhuuuuuuuu utiliza
What engine was in the first vehicle ?
ls7
MadRam11 Thanks. It sounds quite snappy compared to the others (y)
Emtildeath6666
Raul Apolonio Yeah what ?
surprised more bouncers aren't trying to do more ultra4 style suspensions
I think its coming soon, but for the big hills we climb a lot of guys like there current setups.
If the bouncer guys just got their suspension (valving) figured out, they might actually be contenders haha
6:54 like a bat outa hell! Holy shit

What's up with the first one?
Why is it so much faster and with a harder handling?
Sorry, I'm not into this kind of thing.
Ultra 4s stomping the competition

Great vid Madram11 see ya on Instagram

**faster
*Ducking
Cool video.
glad ya liked it
Ultra 4 baby!
Those rock bouncers need to dial in some rebound damping so they don't bounce so much
Super nice cars
awsome vid !!!
Ultra 4s can also go 120 mph on the lake bed at Johnson valley ultra 4..not messing around
_"Nomen est omen."_ The name says it all: rock *bouncer.* The wheels should be tracking the ground to deliver the power of the engine to it and not bounce.
That first one was cartoonishly fast!
7:27 Slowest roll i've ever seen.
Do you think the bouncers expected the Ultra4 cars to perform so much better, even on their own turf?
Ultra 4 = race car with race car drivers.
Rock bouncers = guys with way too much tubing and an obsession with tube benders
Shannon C has some rig that thing is nasty
Is 13:19 Shannon Campbell?
Bien Bien Bien
et pourquois pas en france ...
Great
Awesome!!!
im going to buy a fleet of these:)
One IFS and rest solid..... IFS noooooooooooo problem... and everyone else struggles
their is more than one IFS in this video
Rock bouncer can take much more beating, but is slower and WAY heavier...
impressive machines.
anyone know where a person in Ohio can go see stuff like this?
check out southerrockracing.com and prorockracing.com

Eu. Gosto muito é muito legal
Ultra 4 ever
J adoré avoir un ultra4 dans 8 quand je serai majeur ça serait trop cool mais je rêve trop
cool action
Nice!!!!!
like a monster does
Je super
But the rock bouncers are still pretty badass
Just not right seeing Richie in anything other then Plowboy
Like my Fiat Panda 4x4
Kingofhammers
When I win the lottery....
UL4 seems more powerful in doing anything.
