I couldn’t make it past Vol2 of death Note. I just couldn’t keep reading with Light being so up himself. He starts out right murdering innocent people so fast. I really wish the book was more plotted around Shinigami’s! They were so interesting but we got so little of them and just Lights ego vomit everywhere 😂
I dropped all these too!! I dropped Death Note because of the spoiler you mentioned. It just wasn’t the same after that event. I ended up unhauling I Am a Hero because I didn’t like ANY of the characters. I didn’t understand their motives. I did read the whole series. I wanted to root for someone to make it but I just didn’t care for any of them. I dropped Doubt for the same reasons!! Also: I don’t know why UA-cam keeps unsubbing me from your channel! Unless it’s my kids! 😂 So if you see me unsubbing/resubbing, I don’t know what’s happening! I love your videos! 🫶🏼✨💖
I’m so happy when I find out I’m not alone when I drop series!! But, I’ve been especially surprised how many ppl also got spoiled and couldn’t get through Death Note! It’s weird bc I’ve been spoiled about other deaths before and it hasn’t made me drop the series, but this one just made me completely lose interest in it after that! Right?! Like I didn’t remember enough about the other characters to say that, but I had this vague memory that getting annoyed me in that series haha Oh good yeah I felt like I was being especially hard on Doubt but I haven’t had anyone actually really enjoy it so feeling justified 🤣 Oh no! Death Note is one of a number of really popular Shonen that I never got around to reading or watching for whatever reason. Now I feel like I have to pick it up just so I can find out what is in that spoiler section that could possibly have ruined an otherwise excellent series for myself!🤣
I've never been a fan of the Saw series either. It's part of a whole subgenre of horror that relies almost exclusively on shock value to try and elicit an emotion. They lean way too far into a kind of masochistic schadenfreude of sorts. I mean, sure there's usually some sort of deeper message related to appreciating life and what not, but more often than not it feels like that's just an afterthought tacked on to justify the violence and torture. The main selling point is seeing others suffering, and that's just not something I have any interest in whatsoever. I'm glad that you warned me off from those last series of titles. After reading Alice in Borderland, I've been far more open to the survival genre. I had previously thought that the whole genre fell entirely within the borders of what I just mentioned, but Alice in Borderland wasn't really like that at all. Sure there was plenty of violence, and definitely some disturbing sections, but those never really felt like the focus to me, whereas it sounds like it absolutely is in these titles.
Yeah, I totally agree! Alice in Borderland is so much more than the survival game aspect of it, and is the kind that makes for a worthwhile read, and I’d recommend! Though of course I do admit I have a few that are simply guilty pleasures in the survival type genre 🤭🤣

Not something I'm dropping, but psychological horror that I just wanted to talk about. I have FINALLY purchased Blood on the Tracks and started it. This shi is crazy and I thought I had a sheltered childhood lol
I’ve also heard that (from the cousin who spoiled it lol 🤣) also a reason I’m not so eager to finish it, but I still hope to someday! I hope they do another reprint of it sadly you just never know with Dark Horse…haha I mean I didn’t think Doubt was terrible just like all those series feel the same. So for me if you read one you’ve basically read them all, but like I said if you like Saw or stories similar you might be of a different mind! Oooh I always see posts on Blood on the Track but idk if I’d be into it…Definitely sounds like a lot from everyone who has read it though!

Personal opinion but I’m kind of like, maybe just find a hobby that doesn’t involve using something that was invented to kill? You keep mentioning The Walking Cat and you make me wanna read it so badly! I was always curious about Doubt and those manga by the same author since I thought it would be up my alley but I have never checked them out. I’m much more of a fan of battle royale stories than gore for the sake of core too though! Not a fan of Saw since it always felt like it was just torture for people who liked that stuff. 😅 To end this giant comment, your outfit is iconic again! I had a spoiler for Pandora Hearts when I found out my favourite character dies and also a huge spoiler for Deadman wonderland so with the latter series I took forever to get around to reading it.
I do want to read it eventually! Maybe I’ll force someone to buddy read it with me to hold me accountable to get past that point 🤣 Ugh oh no that’s awful two really great series with some gut wrenching deaths I’m sorry you got spoiled just kinda ruins those impactful moment…I kept seeing spoilers online for Demon Slayer so I had to read it all online before it came out 😭

Yeah Pandora Hearts was devastating but I read it all online as it released so it didn't bother me too much. Deadman Wonderland put me off for ages though because it was such a huge spoiler, I think that's the only one where I was like I'm not going to read it now until years later. Haven't read I am a hero because I don't like Zombies. I have read all of the doubt series and I know exactly what you mean. I enjoyed Doubt for what it was but the others were so repetitive and Dead Company was the worst so far. They just need to stop and try something else.
