Very useful information here for any beginner bike packer. I think you’ll like the Tailfin rear setup. I used an Apidura back bag with an Exo rail on the mtb but it caught my rear wheel and made a small hole in the bag. Now using the Tailfin! Good luck in the Dales divide! To complete it in 2 days seems incredibly fast given the shite weather.🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🥶🥶🥶
Thank you, for the short while I got to use it the Tailfin was great. Unfortunately the event didn't go very well for me and I was ill. My short video will be out later in the week 😞
Good luck! Looking forward to seeing the trip report! Am off to a much shorter distance gravel ride on the Saturday, possibly both of us in very changeable weather - am hoping for the best!
@@themoodyteam I'm sure they'll speak to the company. You had to have a tracker, either a hired one or your own. The checkpoints were not stops as such on this one. Just points to pass through/enjoy. It's fairly low key event (it's just a small donation to charity to enter!) but a very well put together route.
Very informative video Tom.Hope the weather is kind to you but after 6 months of rain I guess you’re pretty used to it.Look forward to seeing how you get on.Have a great ride.
Love this video - great to see you're tackling another event so soon after Atlas! I assume there are lots of accomodation options on the route but because it's Easter they will be fully booked? In any event, hope you get a little sleep, if you need it.
I think there were still quite a few rooms available but sadly I only rode a short part of the event as I felt ill. Would like to give it another go somewhen, perhaps even just the route as it seemed nice (more so when dry...)
How are you getting there? (You mentioned getting the train home) There’s an issue with the track between Lancaster and Barrow-in-Furness. A sinkhole 🙄
We are driving up. It was a bit of tongue in cheek. I didn't event look at the train as I assumed they'd be some sort of engineering work over Easter and no doubt cost about a million pounds 😂
I think it tastes good. You have to keep it slightly warm and give it a few squeezes before you have it otherwise it's harder to get out the pack. I am a bit of a peanut butter addict!
@@CycleXplorer I just had 2 of each flavour delivered this morning from Holland and Barrett. Will give it a go and see what it’s like, nice and cheap as well, 2 for £2.25 👍
Don't worry I've got a 4 pack of hot cross buns in there. RoweDog inspiration. I'll restock the bun supply en route. Assuming Tesco express is better equipped than Moroccan mountain stores 😂

Thanks FV. I don't think it will be amazing but may be a case of it could be worse 😂
ALWAYS COOL TO SEE OTHER SETUPS
The gear is half the fun! Love geeking out looking at other people's stuff.
@@CycleXplorer Total agree almost finished my setup only took 15 years of trail and errors and lot of shake downs
And then something new will come out 😅

Thank you, yes the weather isn't looking amazing. Final kit selection today/tomorrow. Enjoy your gravel ride!
Good luck, you will now be underway and weather looks not completely awful!
Thanks Chris, it didn't really go to plan....
@@CycleXplorerlooking forward to an update. I found Dotwatcher very underwhelming again 😮
I think there were a fair few tracker issues, with some riders not appearing at all@@themoodyteam
@@CycleXplorerThe organisers defo need a discussion about the quality of tracking. Were trackers compulsory, as there were plenty of checkpoints?

Looks like you are ready. Have fun!
The bag and bike sort of it, a few bits of kit have been changed out since the video. Not sure the legs and head are but we'll soon find out!
Good luck Tom hope the weather improves.
Thank you

Thank you. Maybe used to riding indoors, could be a rather wild one!
The cambelbak vest is way good ive used mine for over 7 years now love it
Agree, I've had it a few years. Should have used it on the atlas mountain race but took the backpack instead which was very hot!

Good luck . How long do you think it will take you ? Xx
Mmmm not sure yet. Hopefully a couple of days, would be good to finish early on Sunday for some Easter eggs

That peanut butter stuff looks good and a lot of calories for the pack size. How is it to eat?

Nice! I had a pack and it was tasty and a bit different to just sugar@@huntos83
Did you enjoy the peanut butter?
@@CycleXplorer yes it’s great! Definitely going to carry a couple for the Southern Divide to try out properly
Nice 👌😎. Don’t forget a few Moroccan biscuits when you re stock, hopefully no wild dogs too hey 👊 #HotcrossBunseason
