I love this pattern!!! Its fun to crochet. I made 2 last year. Now, I'm making more to put in the handmade journals I'm making. I think they will be perfect to embellish the journals. I'm using cotton thead #10 on these new ones. They look great!!! TFS

i love your design. I"m having trouble understanding the border instructions. Where do we start and end "*ch 2, sl st to next shell * around the cross: at what part do we " Ch 2, skip 2 stitches; 1sc in each st around" thank you so much and again your work is lovely and even inspirational.
Hi Brenda, I'm sorry I missed your comment. When the second arm of the cross is completed, you continue with *chain 2, slip stitch in the next shell* around the cross till the last shell next to the circle then you do chain 2, skip 2 stitches, 1 single crochet in each stitch around the circle. This was a beautiful pattern and very easy to follow, my only confusion is how can this be a book mark? I used a size 3 hook with weight 4 yarn and followed the pattern exactly and it came out 1 ft long and 10 in wide 😅
😅😅😅 I need to work on how to crochet a big book for this long bookmark, Charly. I used Caron Simply Soft medium size 4 acrylic yarn in this tutorial. It's a much thinner size 4 yarn compare to other brand. Please give it another try with Caron Simply Soft or thinner yarn size like 2 or 3 if you wish to have a small bookmark. Hope it works for you. When you slipstitch into the shells what part are you slipstitching into? in between the 3ch and double crochet? or somewhere else? This is my third attempt making one. I'm trying to make them for my friends for christmas. thank you.
