This is one of those songs you think about when you discover a Dean exploring The Mars Volta for the first time. You go... “Oh I can’t wait until they get to Goliath”. It’s a damned masterpiece of brutal agony and triumph. I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat it forever, this song is second to none in power and magnitude. We’ll be back tonight!
First song Ive heard from them. Ive watched the videoclip premier on MTV Brasil. The sound and "that masked guy screaming" stuck in my head for a while until I downloaded their discography when I learned Frusciante and Flea recorded for then. More than a decade later I proudly recognize they're the band of my life. I have the quote "hold your heavy burden" from this song tattooed on my arm.
This sounds like it could be King Crimson and Jimi Hendrix collaborating on a heavy progressive rock project with a very early Rush line-up looking at them from a door spring. .
Omg my fave song on the album and one of Mars Volta’s best songs oooo I love this so much 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Cedrics voice one this track most especially at the end 🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾👊🏾
Here is a link to the song that was essentially its demo, "Rapid Fire Tollbooth": ua-cam.com/video/TmaTitjDjUE/v-deo.html It is slower paced and jazzy compared to "Goliath".
One of the best songs from the album for sure. I love the background behind this album too. All the crazy stuff happening to them. They got cursed by a quija board and lost like 2 studios to theft and flood. That’s why there’s a reversed board inside the vinyl with a 7” that looks like the eye.

TMV has a really loyal fan base. I noticed that as soon as I started reactions. Not as intense as Tool's fan base, God bless 'em!
