In the mid 90s my dad had two cats that he called Jim and Liz, because one was angry and looked like it had a moustache, and the other was really arrogant and spent its entire life preening and parading around like god's gift.
Whilst the month is generally depressing (especially re Curly and Raquel), the Barlow wedding was actually really funny and sowed the seeds for the later years with Blanche and her famous wit. Such a shame those years ended far too soon, but good to see where they started.
Why doe everyone think Blanche was funny in those days? I found her to be a critical, acid tongue busy body. Not the least bit funny, just downright nasty
4:13:03 - Return of Dastardly Denise, which in my view was the episode that saved November 1996 from being a complete dreary and depressing washout. Denise was such a contrary character: she wanted a man, then she didn't want him; she wanted a hairdressers' shop, then she didn't want it; she wanted a child, then she didn't want him, but then decided she did, and caused no end of havoc in getting him back. Her turning up just as Ken and Deirdre were rekindling their relationship can almost be seen now as the cause of Deirdre getting involved with conman Jon Lindsay just six months later. Had Denise not caused mayhem for Ken, that may never have happened. Denise was contrary, cruel and selfish. Perhaps the only thing she really wanted in life was her sister's husband, and until she got him, she just caused havoc wherever she went and for anyone who came into contact with her.
