It appears they added features that mostly for the commercial world. It would be nice to be able to eliminate functions that do not pertain to amateur radio.
If you complete the icon update, the sat menu will have a sat dish icon instead of the speaker icon. Same process as the firmware update except for the buttons held during power-on. There is a PDF with instructions in the firmware zip file.
@@w8cptCptDon I think they are updated with the CPS "satellite data writing" menu, but that's just a guess. If I had any one thing I'd like Anytone's manufacturer to make it is to provide better documentation.
@@w8cptCptDon I also noticed the Keps are not correct. Even with GPS Beacon set correctly the predictions appear to be several hours off. In other words, a current ISS pass will show in my listing for more than 2 hours in the future..... btw, most TLE listings are only 2-3 days worth usually and you would have to update your radio with new data every several days.
@@mitstax Yes you have to enable GPS and set it for line 1 "GPS" at the GPS mode and maybe something else that I forgot :.) It will only work on models that have GPS built in.
I can hardly believe that the Anytone can operate with satellites. The FM receiver is deaf compared to the Icom Yaesu Kennwod and even the cheapest Baofeng transceivers.
This is so cool! Thank you for posting this. Now all I have to do if find my programming cable ....

@@mitstax that's a new one...
@@w8cptCptDon in just updated the cps and radio. Went to satellite, location is fine l. Click satellite and get that error. Am I missing a setting?

Im sure it would work better if you have an outside antenna that is designed for Sats.
