This is the original Swiss Armee knife every Soldier gets with his equipment.
I got my one in the early 70's and still have it. :-D
yes it is..this is awesome..thank you.
Felix Niederhauser
Which model of SAK is it?
@@filmtajm35 :Model 1970
Felix Niederhauser - You have what is called the Alox . I've had mine for about 40 years . All the best .
I had NO IDEA that there was an authentic version that was really a military-issue tool! I have only ever seen the gimmicky, Fathers'-Day-Gift-Style US-market versions!
Mind. Blown. 😮 I’m a 40 yr old country boy and always had a knife with that and never knew these tips!
Thanks
thank you..never late to learn something new.
Military men with EOD / explosives ordinance disposal from around the world have used this same knife . I've had what we call the Alox knife for over 40 years .
Great video and thanks Nikos .
yes, this make it more great.i was in the army also..thanks.
Old video I know, but I’m still going to comment even if it’s never seen. Thanks for sharing your work, it’s invaluable for learning bits and bobs, new ideas if you like, for a particular tool on a sac knife. Thanks again Dave
I think knowledge is important, I have created a newer video about the uses of the flat screwdriver, thank you. ua-cam.com/video/cd3T28x2TP0/v-deo.html
απίστευτη ευρηματικότητα, όπως πάντα Νίκο. Μπράβο, συνέχισε την καλή δουλειά!

A couple old tricks, a couple useful new ideas. Thank you for sharing. Good video.
thank you.
I went from carrying a Leatherman to a SAK a little over a year ago, and when you stop using a pliers based tool, you really start to get creative with this notch, among other tools on here. SAK makes you smarter!
always i was to sak carry..for this reason.
Walbrzych
So if you carry a leatherman you become less smart? 😂
@Neebell if you carry a leatherman you already did the thinking before purchase and you bought the right tool😂 dumb point anyways, why would you prefer a tool that makes you solve puzzles instead of just getting the job done
Wow thank you I just got my first Swiss army knife.
great!!which model??
I got the huntsman it comes with a saw it is so cool. It has 2 knives and it comes with a real can opener. I already opened up a can of tomatoes for my mom.
very nice.it was one of my first models..has nice balance between edc and outdoor uses.
MIQU MIQU just don't get addicted. These knives once you get one you never want to stop you just have to keep getting more and more it's terrible
Everybody should own ( at least ) one 😉
Nice the way you moved from the obvious to the unexpected uses. Well done.
+Random Button Pusher nice way to describe the trick my friend..
I bought a Victorinox Cybertool 41 just a few weeks ago . The only question that comes to my mind is ......why I didn’t buy one before ? Very useful in almost every technical situation .
i can untersand you question, never is late.is useful for any situation not only in technical.thanks.
I didn't know when. I just looked and now I know. Very useful information.👍👍👍
i glad that you liked,it is useful to know.thank you.
The final one - as emergency (but fixed) woodwork or sheet metal marking scribe blew my mind - who knew that?
you mean this with the pen marking??
Yes - the parallel pen marking/ scribing - for a straight line to cut strip of wood or metal. : )
its a nice extra idea.

Victorinox + imagination = succes... I have a fifteen-year-old Victorinox Huntsman... Hundreds of adventures in the city and in the woods... Greetings!
yes, with a little bit of imagination and a sak anything is possible.the huntsman was my edc from 1993 until 1996.it is the knife with the most sales for 2020 year.thank you.
This is my favorite Swiss army knife. The stamped aluminum is tough.
the most have this type of knife as favorite.also i like it.thank you.
I have an Alox Farmer. An amazing knife
Primera vez que me entero para que sirve esa muesca; uso navaja desde niño y hasta hoy lo se, voy a cumplir 60 imaginense, graciad por la info.
thank you
This is neat! Though the pliers (they are in the Swiss Champ, not sure if they are in your knife model) open fully to reveal some small wire cutters for small stripped wipes.
the victorinox style pliers has wire cutter not wire stripper.the wenger style pliers has wire stripper.
Thanks so much for sharing. I had no idea that the notch was there!...very useful video!!
thank you,i glad that i helped you.
I wish I’d have thought of that Super Glue lid use. I usually use the pliers in my Swiss Champ.
I can see some uses as a pen/pencil guide too. 👍🏻
the pliers is the normal use,but not have all the saks pliers,so just i show an extra idea just in case.thanks
I have a swiss knife..thanks for this video. I really dont know how to use that notch . 😊
thank you,i glad that i helped you.
when your knife is about 3-4 layers thick you're better off cutting the insulation from free hand rather than using the trick with both the knife and wire stripper because the space in between gets bigger.
yes this trick is only for 2 layers tool..otherwise use the first way in video, the classic wire-stripper..
1:50 breaking all the wires in the inside hahaha
which wires broken do you mean??
I just want to know the proper, intended way to strip wire with it. The trick with the large blade doesn't work on my explorer, as the large blade doesn't sit opposite the cap lifter on the explorer.
indeed, this method works for a knife of a certain thickness, but there is also the second obvious option of stripping wires that I present, using the blade(the small one is more handy) and then the notch, thanks.
Love your uses Videos👍✌️
thanks i will try to make more videos.
Didnt know it was good for anything besides being another feature for the box to sell.... cool tho
the main uses is wire-stripper and wire bender...

Your music gives so much peaceful vibes.im scared.

depending on your needs

that one of the many uses of this tool.thanks
Second and third oneswas very good.
thank you...
As always interesting videos. Greetings from Mexico
thanks.greetings from Greece
Me too Jaun. I need another SAK but wonder are there a bunch of counterfits down here and do you have to look super close? Just thought you might know. Saludos!
michael grosser Saludos amigo.
Where you from?
You can easily strip wire with just a knife blade. Roll the blade around the wire to cut the insulation and pull it off. You don't need a special tool to grab and pull off the insulation. It can be done in about ten seconds all together. If you strip wires often enough for ten seconds to be too slow, you are probably a professional with access to dedicated wire strippers. Also, on the drawing of lines, if you are that worried about straight and parallel lines go find a square. There is no reason to use a tool for a job and then have it look as crappy as this example did. Either you need straight lines bad enough to get the proper tool, or you don't. The other uses make sense.
your idea working fine but is a blade feature,in this video i show the notch features.thank you.
@@nikgyver7 ,
Yes, I apologize if I was too blunt. As far as the actual wire striping usefulness, that is more a complaint against the design than anything you did. I just got a Victorinox that also has that notch. I have never noticed before (this was after I saw your video) that these notches were completely flat and dull. The design is quite silly and useless. I guess it is good that you tried to find some ways to make it useful.
красавчик молодец. Super
thanks
Hi Nikos....cool video!Ciao.Sergio.
+lupodelpratomagno thanks man...have a nice day
What make is that and model?
this is the victorinox soldier alox, was the army knife from 60s to 2008.now you can find it as ''pioneer''with key ring
Had to drop an SAK in the knife box at an airport. Was sad for a while. Then found a website that sold the ones from other unfortunate folks. That was great.
this feeling is a mess, glad that you find one.which website is??thanks
i always used that notch as a pseudo hook for wire baskets
what for??
@@nikgyver7 carrying hot food on the campsite in the pot
@@sushaantsiingh9106 i understand, very nice.thanks
Caution, do not cut the insulation like it shows on aluminum wire. The resulting ring on the wire will eventually cause it to fail.
what gonna fail??
@@nikgyver7 I think what he's trying to say is that when cutting the insulation that way, the knife will cut a ring on the wire below. This ring would be a point of weakness where it can break.
Wait, are you trying to tell me that this little notch that I barely paid attention to all the time is actually there for a reason?
yes, always was there as a wire stripper-bender(the normal use).
Thanks a lot today i was wonderimg what was that for
great timening,i glad that you find it use ful.i have more videow about the tools and for uses.thank you.
The spanish notch, la mueca española
Didn't see a single thing I can't do better with a real multi-tool that has pliers (pull nails, bend wire, a whole lot more) and a real wire stripper with a sharp edge! Don't get me wrong; I like my Vics, but they are very limited and not strong. I carry a Tinker, a Micra and a medium to large multitool at all times - advantages to all. Besides that, I can strip wire with just a good knife blade - no need for that silly notch!
So inspiring. Thanks.
thanks
Thanks for not having a bunch of nasty moldy hair come out of that drain!!
Lol it was a clear example about, the reallity could be more nasty.thanks.
Провод потом в этои месте хорошо сломается.
Cool.
thanks
Я этой штукой, рыболовные крючки затягиваю.

thank you.
You are actually using the real Army knife that every Swiss solider gets.
yes.before 2008..

buh duh duh duh duh weeoooeeeoooeeoooeooeoo

The music was the best part!
The music screams NickGyver to me! It’s tradition now.
The wire stripper itself has a rough surface. You don't need to cut it with the blade first. Just get a wire small enough to fit the notch and bend and pull it. It will strip the wire by itself. No other tools needed. Most people don't know this but feel the notch with your nails, you'll see.
it works with some sizes of wire without to cut it,i was thought that it is right to show all the possible ways to strip it,thank you for your comment.
I never thought I would use that tool until now
With a little imagination anything is possible..
Didn't know that before. Thanks Nikos.

Muy interesante, cada día aprendemos ulguna cosa, gracias
thank you...
I just had to come back to say thank you for the video. Until I saw this I never even realized they had the notch, let alone what it could be for.
So I went to check out mine, which stays on my INCH bag, but gets used a lot. Anyway I was surprised to see one.
Once again thanks, you never know when it might come in handy.
true, all is useful if you think the way to use, thanks.
Thanks for your tricks, seriously Nikos.

+NIKOS DOULAS yes we can tanks for the video tips
+Rostislav Dimitrov thanks glad to help..
Rostislav Dimitrov true
Thanks! That's amazing! I had dozens of victorinox knives and never used that notch.
this was the reason to make the video.thanks
Amazing!! Who would know? I kind of ...kind of thought the notch had a function (use) but wasn't quite sure. Now I know!!! But don't you think Swiss Army Knives are like a toy? A knife is a tool, we all know that. And I do use my knife: The toothpick, the screwdriver on the bottle opener to tighten the knobs on my girlfriend"s closet doors, and the big blade to open boxes, etc. But I'd like to see the very first Swiss Army Knife. And did the Army From Switzerland really use these knives?
is more serious tool than it looks.quality,handy,solid.i was to the Greek army for 1.5years,my victorinox save me.it was so necessary for me.blade, flat screwdriver,as screwdriver and pry tool, saw, can opener, scissors, toothpick, pen was the most used tools.all the other mans ask for me my sak to used everyday.i hope to help you.thanks.
I recommend the SAK in combination with a large fixed blade knife. So you have one for the dirty tasks and one for food preparation and a scissor for your gf finger nails and even tweezers for her eyebrows...😉
So fixed knife for the men and SAK for the gentlemen
Why do people insist on ruining good videos with idiotic music?
in fact it's not stupid music it's just different from this music you like,it's impossible to find a kind of music that everyone likes separately from the millions who have watched the video, thank you
Caramba! Incrível. Tantas utilidades, eu não conhecia. Parabéns
thank you.
#3: pulling nails. Not with my knife, unless the nail was in my femur. (Maybe someone else's...)
why not my friend??
+NIKOS DOULAS To state the incredibly obvious: My knife is too useful to abuse the frame with high side leverage which would likely bend it beyond repair, my friend.
don't worry the victorinox tools is strong ua-cam.com/video/WGmEswTFSwI/v-deo.html
for small nail its ok ua-cam.com/video/6Yfi6vrUMmI/v-deo.html
Good to know.
Ja to miejsce podczlifowałem mini szlifierką na ostro i kable obieram bez problemu...
I had no idea there was even a notch on my knife. Thanks for pointing it out now I’m going to investigate those and try to find more
By the way the music was just great I liked it
thank you..this is the point to think Alternatively.
Thanks
Thank you.
I got my first swiss army knife before i was 5 (25 now) and i have used it for everything showed in the video. After some time i gave up on always trying to keep it in it's best shape, it is a tool and shall be used as one. Although i really abused this thing i had to buy like only 3 new ones in the last 20 years.
i use them from 1987..if you use them with the right way still like new for a life.check the victortinox warranty and the service..
I knew that’s how it worked!
thank you...
I never knew what that was for
always is there something to learn, the reason to make videos, thank you.
Thanks for your sharing!
thank you
Изоляцию так же можно просто ножом снять
I have carried a Swiss Army knife for many years. I have used every blade and attachment for one reason or another. It's like American Express, I never leave home without it.
Iwould like a video from the history if the swiss knives, will be interesting, thanks !!
i can send an email with the history of the soldier knife
That last one was a bit of a stretch.
all my ideas,is ideas that i had needed and used,i show it to you just in case, could be useful some day.thanks
На самом деле это углубление для достижения наилучшего баланса этой креветки. Люди могут много придумать для этого углубления функций, но на деле это всего лишь баланс

Fantastic video - some stuff I'd never thought of! I've just picked up the new Voctorinox Soldier ua-cam.com/video/EoUS9IvsBlY/v-deo.html
thanks...good choice,i like this series of knives
I was worried what you would pull out of the sink drain. What a remarkably clean and dry tissue! Thanks for keeping it clean😄
just an example what can do with this tool.thanks
Very good short to the point self explanatory video....good job. Very same model knife I've been carrying for years and years now. Outstanding useful knife. Two thumbs up on both the video and knife.
thank you.yes this knife is a ''must''
EN LA PRIMERA EXPOSICIÓN , TANTOS BRINCOS ESTANDO EL SUELO TAN PAREJO,
YO NO HARÍA ESO, SIMPLE Y SENCILLAMENTE LE JALO CON LOS DEDOS Y ASUNTO RESUELTO
i am sorry difficult to understand spanish.
Most of them have a tool between the knife and the bottle opener, so this is just tiktok levels of bullshit
Then you have to use the first one method that I shown, make i cut with the blade and next use the wire stripper, thanks ua-cam.com/video/zPz0E-E0gXU/v-deo.html
OK but no need for the shite 'music' if indeed you could call it that
sorry but the point is the trick, difficult to find one music style for thousand peoples thanks.
Too many steps to simply sheer a wire. I'll stick with my Channellocks. Ty.
i show all the ways..choose the shorter.
Por favor cambien la música haci nadie se intetesa por el producto!!!!!!
the point is the video, difficult to find a music to like it everybody.thanks.
Even more reasons why Victorinox knives are so great!
yes...with a little bit imagination amything is posible with these knives.
With a triangular file modify the Victorinox "U" to "V" like in Leatherman - see in Felix Immler video.
I don't like these modifications, I prefer the original shape of the knife. The notch works very well as a wire stripper, but I also don't want to lose the rest of the features of the notch, nor the warranty. Felix is great, thanks.
I've had my victorinox knife since 1975. Got two more since then, and still have all three.
great..they have a nice history behind
Nice trick sir love it ur video
thank you..i hope to join the tricks
