    when your knife is about 3-4 layers thick you're better off cutting the insulation from free hand rather than using the trick with both the knife and wire stripper because the space in between gets bigger.

      indeed, this method works for a knife of a certain thickness, but there is also the second obvious option of stripping wires that I present, using the blade(the small one is more handy) and then the notch, thanks.

    You can easily strip wire with just a knife blade. Roll the blade around the wire to cut the insulation and pull it off. You don't need a special tool to grab and pull off the insulation. It can be done in about ten seconds all together. If you strip wires often enough for ten seconds to be too slow, you are probably a professional with access to dedicated wire strippers. Also, on the drawing of lines, if you are that worried about straight and parallel lines go find a square. There is no reason to use a tool for a job and then have it look as crappy as this example did. Either you need straight lines bad enough to get the proper tool, or you don't. The other uses make sense.

      @@nikgyver7 ,
      Yes, I apologize if I was too blunt. As far as the actual wire striping usefulness, that is more a complaint against the design than anything you did. I just got a Victorinox that also has that notch. I have never noticed before (this was after I saw your video) that these notches were completely flat and dull. The design is quite silly and useless. I guess it is good that you tried to find some ways to make it useful.

    Didn't see a single thing I can't do better with a real multi-tool that has pliers (pull nails, bend wire, a whole lot more) and a real wire stripper with a sharp edge! Don't get me wrong; I like my Vics, but they are very limited and not strong. I carry a Tinker, a Micra and a medium to large multitool at all times - advantages to all. Besides that, I can strip wire with just a good knife blade - no need for that silly notch!

    The wire stripper itself has a rough surface. You don't need to cut it with the blade first. Just get a wire small enough to fit the notch and bend and pull it. It will strip the wire by itself. No other tools needed. Most people don't know this but feel the notch with your nails, you'll see.

    Херня! По принципу: у меня есть какая-то хрень и давайте ее применим для чего-нибудь. В реале только изоляцию снимать с толстых проводов и проволоку гнуть, для тоноких проводов подходит ложбинка у основания клинка- не нужно два инструмента использовать. Обожаю эти мультитулы, но не нужно себе усложнять жизнь открывая тюбик клея.

    Amazing!! Who would know? I kind of ...kind of thought the notch had a function (use) but wasn't quite sure. Now I know!!! But don't you think Swiss Army Knives are like a toy? A knife is a tool, we all know that. And I do use my knife: The toothpick, the screwdriver on the bottle opener to tighten the knobs on my girlfriend"s closet doors, and the big blade to open boxes, etc. But I'd like to see the very first Swiss Army Knife. And did the Army From Switzerland really use these knives?

      @nikgyver7  4 роки тому +4

      is more serious tool than it looks.quality,handy,solid.i was to the Greek army for 1.5years,my victorinox save me.it was so necessary for me.blade,flat screwdriver,as screwdriver and pry tool,saw,can opener,scissors,toothpick,pen was the most used tools.all the other mans ask for me my sak to used everyday.i hope to help you.thanks.

    • @7784000
      @7784000 2 роки тому

      I recommend the SAK in combination with a large fixed blade knife. So you have one for the dirty tasks and one for food preparation and a scissor for your gf finger nails and even tweezers for her eyebrows...😉
      So fixed knife for the men and SAK for the gentlemen

    I got my first swiss army knife before i was 5 (25 now) and i have used it for everything showed in the video. After some time i gave up on always trying to keep it in it's best shape, it is a tool and shall be used as one. Although i really abused this thing i had to buy like only 3 new ones in the last 20 years.

    With a triangular file modify the Victorinox "U" to "V" like in Leatherman - see in Felix Immler video.

    • @nikgyver7
      @nikgyver7  8 місяців тому

      I don't like these modifications, I prefer the original shape of the knife. The notch works very well as a wire stripper, but I also don't want to lose the rest of the features of the notch, nor the warranty. Felix is great, thanks.
